This book, while not great, was an enjoyable retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Although this time, the Beast is a dragon. The story is well told from the perspective of the heroine, Rhianne, who dreams of being an artist. Although, sadly for her, that dream quickly appears shattered when is is decided she shall marry the Lord of the lands. An interesting blend the known story with some new twists. Most of the book was predicable but the author shows her own ideas and thought in various ways as you read along. My biggest complaint is that I couldn't connect with the characters. I love the Beauty and the Beast stories and this is the first one that, when finished, I still could not draw up emotion for the characters much. That really did take away from the story some. Don't get me wrong. They were alright, I just felt disconnected somewhat. Still, a beautiful world awaits with an enthralling tale! The writing is well done, the world set up nicely. The story is both familiar and unique at the same time. I am glad I out this book and hope others enjoy it too.

Interesting version of fairy tale

I usually don't care for books that re-tell a familiar story or fairy tale, but this book was good. Well written and it held my attention all the way through. I'd say this book was suitable for teens through adults. Fairy tale with emphasis on magic and romance.

This was an interesting read. At times, I wished for more answers, despite the transparency of the plot. The main character was left in the dark too long. Overall, I thought the writing was very well done. My criticism, though, would be the spelling of character names and months were awkward. At the beginning of the book, these created names and words came almost too frequently, almost abusively. And there was a made-up word, "baldly," which worked the way "boldly" should... Websters insisted the word doesn't exist. That bugged me. All that said, once I was through the first chapter, I was truly engaged with the story.

I absolutely loved this version of beauty and the beast. It's not the typical tale of the Disney version twisted to a different view point. It is well written and the main female character is very well written....she reminds me of a heroine from the 1600's. Strong, as independent as women of that age were allowed to be, with a strong sense of who she is. I enjoyed all 190 pages.

I spent an entire day reading this book and became very invested in it. It was well written, moreso than I had honestly expected, but felt far too quickly wrapped up in the end. As I saw I was running out of pages I began to get nervous, and sure enough the ending was short and sweet with not much to satisfy me. Still, definitely worth a read.

I actually really liked it. Well written. And i like when we get to follow along with sex scenes.rather than books just hinting at it.

Well written and interesting to read. I felt like the last few chapters were a bit rushed and the story could have been drawn out longer. Still, worth the read!

Interesting version of the Beauty and the Beast story. Knew how it would end, but enjoyed the journey. Dragged in a couple of places, but good. Recommend.

A sweet retelling of Beauty and the Beast with a few twists and turns. A little too one-sided in that, the reader only hears from Rhianne who spends most of her time in her room. Subordinate characters are not developed and the relationship between the Dragon and Rhianne isn't brought to fulfillment until the last 5 pages. A summer read, but a bit of a let down.

Not a bad read. A little predicatble. But a fun light story.

A good read. There was a bit too much writing and not enough meat. But then again i am a prolific reader so I tend to skip forward as needed. Having said that, I can also say the writing is very good nonetheless. Dale M. Baranoski
