"Ember" was something different in that even though it was a cute love story, the way the story was put together was simply classic. I found this fairy tale to be very detailed with a real twist of the real Cinderella fairy tale, an enjoyable good read. Not only will you find lots of magic but also hot sex. I also found many funny sections in "Ember." This is definitely not a book for the young ones! "Ember" was a good read and if you are into a hot fairytale, this one is for you!

Within the first few pages adult situations were introduced that had me sitting back and going.. "Wow...already?"
Don't get me wrong, I have read books that are way more adult then that, it was just so blunt and fast that it caught me off guard. The whole book seemed fast paced in fact.
It had all the great qualities of turning into one of those different versions of a fairy tale that is almost as good as the first but I wish there had been more detail and more time. It seemed like there was very little emotion placed behind the characters, they didn't jump off of the page at me, instead they remained words that were easily forgotten.
I did like the spin they put on the classic Cinderella story. Instead of Cinderella being a meek, petite, blonde haired sweetie. She isn't the stick thin model every girl wants to be, no Ember, her counter part, was a fiery red headed, witch with a taste for vengeance. As was proof of the hex doll she kept to continuously torture a man until he later hung himself to escape her torments. She isn't the picture perfect type of beauty, in fact she has a missing pinky and a club foot.
The step family are not hated and cruel to Ember, but instead a trio of beloved whores, one of which happens to be a werewolf.
I really liked that for once, even Prince Charming was different as well, suffering from a curse placed upon him when he was a babe, anyone who sets eyes on him automatically loves and adores him. You would think this curse would be more a gift right? Not so in the case of Prince Charming who gets respect for nothing, who hates it because everyone does everything he commands without blinking an eye.
In the end, the book could have been a lot better. It isn't one I would re-read or recommend as I have read better versions of Cinderella, I am still hoping they will decide to elaborate on the idea they ingeniously created.
