Overview

For summers Miranda Albright has watched—aghast, yet shamefully titillated—as her wicked neighbor Ethan Hamon, the notorious Earl of Rothschild, "entertained" a succession of lovers on the grounds of his estate. Now that her father has passed on, leaving behind a mountain of debt, Miranda must do the unthinkable. For Ethan has promised to sponsor her younger sisters, financially and socially, at a scandalously dear price: Miranda must offer herself to him completely for three full months, with no remorse and no restraints.

Ninety days and nights of unbridled sensuality await her in the arms of a rogue who views her submission as no more than a grand erotic game. But neither Miranda nor Ethan realize that fire blazes behind her innocent blush. And once her passion is unleashed by his lips and his touch, it is the student who will school the teacher in the ways of forbidden pleasure . . . and love.

Chapter One

Three years later
1817

"Mama," Miranda Albright said with a sigh as she watched her mother hold up yet another silken gown to her younger sister Penelope. "Honestly, you should not have purchased these things without speaking to me first!"

Dorthea Albright turned her rotund form on her eldest daughter with a harsh frown. "This is my home, Miranda! I do not ask my children for permission for anything I do."

Miranda shut her eyes and counted to ten in her head very slowly. The hesitation wasn't nearly enough to keep her anger and frustration in check. Still, she somehow managed to maintain a calm tone when she replied.

"But, Mama, the cost of all these things!" she said through tightly gritted teeth as she motioned to the pile of fabric and hats and . . . were those jewels stacked on the settee? "I have been managing the finances for six months and I know better what can fit into our budget and what cannot."

Her mother snorted as her eyes rolled heavenward. "You know better. Ha! You know how to keep us in rags."

Miranda gripped fists at her sides. "If you insist upon living beyond our means, at the very least speak to me so I can prepare for the additional cost. And perhaps togetherwe can find ways to be more frugal. Our debts—"

Her mother held up a hand and waved off Miranda's words. "You would be better served by finding a rich husband to solve our financial problems than to spend all your time fussing over ledgers! When your father was alive, he managed to give us all we wanted and needed and more! Why should that change simply because he has left this world?"

Her mother sniffled, and despite Miranda's frustration, she felt a pang of empathy for the feelings etched across Dorthea's lined face. Whatever her father's faults, their family all loved and missed him terribly.

Penelope shot Miranda a brief, understanding look before she placed a hand on their mother's arm. "Mama, you know Miranda is only looking out for us all. And I do not need three green gowns. Perhaps if we return two of them—"

"Green suits your eyes the best," her mother interrupted. "They make it less obvious that they are too close together." Miranda flinched. Good Lord, their mother had no tact. She'd spent a lifetime being picked apart. She could hardly stand to see that well-intentioned venom being turned on her sister.

"Penelope's eyes are perfectly spaced!"

Her mother glared at her. "She will need all the gowns when her Season begins. I won't have anyone saying my daughters are poorly dressed! That is the final word on the matter."

Dorthea gathered up the gowns and grasped Penelope's hand, shooting Miranda a glare before she swept out of the room with all the pomp and circumstance of a queen.

Miranda let out a moan as the parlor door shut behind them. If her mother was queen, it was over a shabby kingdom, indeed. Their father may have given them all they "wanted, needed, and more," but it had been at the expense of their financial stability. His gambling, coupled with a lifetime of poor investments and lavish living, had reduced their coffers to almost nothing. The upkeep of the house alone was putting them at the edge of ruin.

To make matters worse, as the third son of a not particularly wealthy Marquis, her father had no land to make up for their losses. All he had were bad habits, debts, and kind smiles.

"God rest his soul," Miranda murmured as she looked at the line of ciphers a second time. Nothing had changed. She rested her head against the desk edge with a sigh.

What the hell were they going to do?

"Miranda?" came a voice from the settee beside the window.

Miranda jolted up straight in surprise. Her middle sister, Beatrice, was staring at her, arms folded. She'd almost forgotten the girl was in the room. A rare occurrence, since the spoilt child rarely allowed herself to be anything but the center of attention.

"What is it, Beatrice?" Miranda asked on another sigh.

"You cannot deny us Seasons!" Beatrice declared, her slippered foot beginning to tap beneath the hem of her extravagant morning gown. "Just because you are determined to be a spinster doesn't mean the rest of us should be forced to follow in your footsteps."

Miranda flinched. "I can hardly be considered a spinster at twenty, Beatrice. And your Season will not happen for at least another year, so I wouldn't concern yourself yet."

"Ha!" Beatrice moved toward her in three long steps. "How can I not concern myself? You are already denying Penelope gowns! If you get your way, I will neither be fashionable nor desirable by the time I step into Society!"

Miranda opened her mouth to speak, but Beatrice extended a finger into her face and waggled it.

"And a spinster is made by her actions, not her age," Beatrice snapped. "You could have married a dozen wealthy men—"

"It was hardly a dozen," Miranda muttered.

Her sister continued, unhindered by the interruption, "—and saved us from this trial in the first place, but you refused. You don't want to be happy!" Beatrice's lip began to quiver and her blue eyes filled with tears. "And you refuse to let any of the rest of us be happy, either!"

Miranda sighed as her sister gathered up her skirts and flew from the room, slamming the door behind her with a jarring bang. If Beatrice didn't do the very same thing every other day, Miranda might have been moved, but today she was too tired to play her sister's childish games.

She stared at the financial figures again. God, by the time Bea came out, they might not have enough money for food, let alone gowns.

The door clicked and it took everything in Miranda not to set her head back on the desk and sob. She couldn't take one more tantrum. She simply could not.

    Wow...!!!

When I read the reviews that this book was good when it came to reading EROTIC stories, I thought, "yeah right." It's usually just a bunch of named body parts doing named bodily things. But I was wrong. Jess is amazing at story telling, conversation and detail. I loved this book from page 1, all the way to the end. And I adore her for wanting to give us happy endings all time. That's my kind of author. And Mrs. Michaels doesn't mess around when it comes to seducing and playing around with the opposite sex, and the emotions that grow throughout. Bravo Jess!!! I want all 4 of these stories, and look forward to everything else you have to write for us!

Lord Rothschild is strong, wealthy, powerful and terrified of the emotion called, love - where Miranda Albright has sworn to never search for, or find, that similar emotion. Put two peas in a pod together, though, and watch the chemistry ignite as they both fight against what they have sworn to never feel...and fail.

Just Finished All 4 Books In Series and Very Much Enjoyed

I finished all 4 books in this series and recommend all of them. In fact, Ms. Michaels has at least one more book to write--the youngest sister's (Winifred) love affair mentioned in 'Nothing Denied'. Actually, she could write three or four more books featuring the various characters we meet in all these books like Jeremy's brother in 'Something Reckless' and Cassandra's (whom we see in one part of this book) male and female friends in 'Taboo'. I will warn you Ms. Michaels is not afraid of and quite descriptive in her love scene. Very erotic, passionate but always true to her characters. She ensures there is love and trust in all her books because that's what defines a true romance novel.

    Everything Sensual!

From front to back cover, Jess Michaels has written another masterfully written historical erotic romance that titillates and enthralls when a handsome nobleman lures a beautiful innocent woman into his bed for nights of sinful pleasure. What is the beautiful and innocent Miss Miranda Albright to do when her father passes on, leaving her and her younger sisters in a mountain of debt? Miranda may be innocent, but she is also intelligent, and so she works up a plan to sacrifice herself for her sisters. She is aware of and has watched the handsome rogue of a neighbor Ethan Hamon, the Earl of Rothschild, entertain lady after lady at his country estate. When she boldly turns up on Ethan¿s doorstep to offer herself to his pleasures in return for his help in sponsoring her sister¿s seasons, he is shocked at the bold and beautiful innocent¿s offer of her virginity. Miranda believes it will be for one night, but Ethan boldly asks for three months. She is shocked, but has no choice to agree, and as she learns to enjoy what Ethan offers she begins to realize her plan is not as simple as it first seemed, as the handsome and passionate Ethan is not only hard to resist, but addictive, and Miranda finds herself looking forward to their time together, eagerly looking forward to each liaison. A true notorious rogue, Ethan looks forward to the opportunity of molding and teaching Miranda in the arts of sensual pleasure, but as the months and nights of pleasure near the end, Ethan never suspects that he will be the one to learn much more from Miranda that forbidden pleasure can easily turn to love. Will Ethan be able to just walk away from Miranda as he has with other ladies in the past, especially when ¿Everything Forbidden¿ becomes everything he needs for passion, love and happiness in his life forever? The erotic scenes and the story are beautifully written, drawing the reader in, making this story hard to put down. Jess Michaels has the talent to not have the erotica overwhelm the storyline, which is indeed a pleasure!

    The Title Says It All!

If you like more then just erotica this book is for you. It actually has a descent story line however you know what will happen at the end. This writer is not afraid to use real descriptive words compared to other writers in this genre. I also enjoyed the main characters very much. Would read it again and plan to purchase other books by this author.

    Hot and Romantic

I became a fan of Jess Michaels writing as Jenna Peterson and thought she was awesome. This is my first experience with erotica and I was a little skeptical about going on a sexcapade for sex's sake. Loved it! Excellent story, well-developed characters and strategically placed, relevant and explicit sex. All-in-all a great book!

This is a refreshing erotic Regency romance

In 1814 Miranda Albright searches for her mom¿s runaway dog Oslo. Instead she sees her family¿s neighbor the Earl of Rothchild Ethan Hamen without a shirt and licking a female ¿down there¿. She becomes tingly.--------------- Three years later, Miranda¿s dad died leaving her, her three younger sisters and her mom in massive debt. Miranda struggles to pay the bills, but only her sister Penelope understands the problem. Their spoiled mom and sister Beatrice think Miranda is a miser who does not want to have a good time. Their other sister Winfred is too young to understand their plight. Miranda feels guilty that she rejected wealthy suitors during her recent season but Penelope points out, she had no idea how broke the family was..---------------- Penelope is their only hope if she finds a wealthy match. However, for her to have a season they will need money. Miranda offers a deal to her ¿sex tutor¿ Ethan She explains they are destitute, her father¿s family rejects them and her mother¿s family has no money. Her father¿s friends have called in their debts, but are willing to forgo them if she gives herself over to them. Ethan is willing to finance her sisters¿ seasons for every month that Miranda has sex with him, he will fund a sibling. She is to come to him once a week. They seal the deal with a kiss, but end up making love. As they fall in love, both will be hurt by their illicit affair, but not as much Penelope.------------- This is a refreshing erotic Regency romance starring a courageous heroine sacrificing herself by doing what she feels she must for her sisters especially her best friend sibling Penelope. Whereas Ethan is an interesting rake, Miranda¿s mom and Beatrice are spoiled and unlikable. Still sub-genre fans will enjoy this heated historical.--------------- Harriet Klausner

    LOVED IT!

This was a very steamy romance. It pushed some comfort boundries but wasn't in bad taste. The characters were great and the happy ending was delightful. If you are un the mood for something a bit MORE than your average historical romance this is a great read!

    A good read, but. . . .

The writing is well done, it'll have you interested within the first chapter or so. But the ending feels like you ran into a brick wall. Besides that, it's pretty good.

    Great story

I thought it might be a little too far out there-I like the erotica but not all the BDSM that is sometimes pops up-but it wasn't that at all. Super story, super hot sex scenes, likeable characters-which sometimes the rogue is too much a jerk to be very likeable but Ethan was great. Definately going to read the rest of her books.
