Unusual Ending

Aurelia, crown princess of Tyralt, is on an expedition to meet her people. Her life is in danger and has always been in danger since her sister attempted to take her life a few months back. But she doesn't want to remember that, she refuses to believe that Melony is determined to kill her. Aurelia thinks that Robert, her expedition guide, is overprotective. He always seeks to put her safety first, even if it means risking his life. The duo faces many challenges during the expedition. Their hearts are not only at stake from the danger that lurks behind every corner, but also from each other. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Exile. The plot and story line was straightforward. Although I did wished for more twists and turns in the story, I like the way Anne Osterlund keeps the reader guessing about the end of the story. The end of the book is not the way you wished it to be; it is not a happily ever after ending (a hint to a sequel?). I find that a good thing because it is refreshing to read a book which for once, does not have the happily ever after ending. I've read quite a few books in the Young Adult Fantasy genre and Exile is definitely one of the best. The fact that it has clean language is a plus!

Highly Recommended - you must check it out!! ANOTHER SEQUEL REQUIRED!

Aurelia and Robert are back! Princess Aurelia travels the Kingdom of Tyralt to meet people and to get away from her murderous ambitious stepsister and her father the monarch who could not care which royal daughter lived or died as long as one of them remained his heir. Her friend Robert, who loves Aurelia, and select guards join her on her trek. Danger, suspense, mystery, history, and romance are present in this action-packed sequel to Aurelia. The only thing I want from this book is to have another book because Exile ended with a way for another to follow. So read this book, because you'll love it and you won't be able to put it down until you finished it!

Highly recommended - full of adventure

Now that Aurelia is exiled from her kingdom with Robert as her guide she plans to go on an expedition of Tyralt. She is free from being crown princess only because her own sister was trying to kill her but she can't seem to escape her still. All Aurelia wants to do is meet the people of Tyralt and connect with them but she is constantly being hunted and her life is always in danger!

What a thrilling adventure!! I could not get enough of Aurelia and Robert! Right from the first chapter you are drawn in to the adventure that awaits them and the trials they encounter! Aurelia has her very own tour guide that she just can't help but to think about way too much even though he seems to be doing his best to ignore her!

I had no idea what to expect with Exile, all I knew I wanted was to hear more about Aurelia and her compassion for the people of Tyralt and to see what developed with Robert. Oh I was not disappointed at all! There were lots of moments where Anne just paints a very vivid picture of what I would expect for Aurelia and her encounters with her people. The scenes were all very realistic and there is so much mystery and suspense that unravels throughout the story that you have a hard time putting the book down!

The characters are truly lovable! Aurelia is passionate about everything which I love about her! She loves her people and she believes they need to be heard, she is passionate about her expedition and her beliefs! She speaks her mind and she grows up a lot on this adventure! Robert also is a great character; he is so protective of Aurelia and such a heartwarming man! He struggles with guilt about what happened with Chris yet I love the way he deals with all of this, including his feelings about Aurelia! Anne can write such emotionally connected characters that you really feel like you know them and are rooting for them to succeed!

There was nothing I dislike about Exile! The writing is wonderful, the story is unique; full of adventure, romance and mystery, and the characters are relatable! I recommend this for YA readers of any age!

The second book in a series is usually a difficult book for me to get through. It's generally not as exciting because you already know the main characters and what their dilemma is, thus some of the adventure and suspense is taken out of it. However, Anne Osterlund did a very good job with her second book in the Aurelia series, Exile. Although you pick up about a week from where the first book left off, you do not find yourself lacking for adventure. One of the tings I liked most about Exile was that it wasn't just about the adventure of having Aurelia's steps continually dogged by her murderous sister, but it was also about the emotional trauma that she was trying to hard to deal with. This book doesn't let up on Aurelia for very long before flinging her headlong into another frying pan or fire. Yet through it all Aurelia manages to become her own person. In the first book my impression was just a strong female character, but the second book has made her more than just some strong-willed, stubborn victim. Exile allowed me to see the vulnerabilities in her character, the flaws, and the turmoil she's in. I loved the romance between her and Robert. It wasn't overplayed, but it was there as an undercurrent guiding various actions and prompting both characters to do things that they might not have done otherwise. I look forward to the third book and seeing what becomes of Aurelia and Robert and their adventures into the Outer Realm.

I LOVED this book!!!! Osterlund did an amazing job shaping the characters and the plot. I actually loved this book more than the first because I actually felt like I was in the novel and I did NOT want it to end. I really hope that there is another book in this series because there is no way the story is finished.

I have wanted to read this book since last year when i got the first book..i love how it draws you into the ebents that are happening and i really gives you a clear picture of eveything thats going on like your actually their at that moment

This book is the sequal to Aurelia. I loved the first book as much as I loved the sequal Exile. It's about a princess who decides to tour her country in preperation to become queen and to escape the castle life. She has always dreamed of seeing her country and meeting the people. But someone is trying to kill her...there is mystery, adventure, romance and the end will leave you hanging...

There HAD better be another sequel

Loved it!!!! The perfect sequel to thhe first novel and i' m looking forward to another sequel!!!!!!!!!!!!

She wished she could just go about as a commoner, but understands her position prevents her from doing so. When an assassin tries to kill her, Aurelia learns you sometimes get what you wish for. She and Robert flee for their lives wearing the disguise of a common couple. When they encounter bandits, Aurelia meets her mother who is protected by the band. She is offered a chance to remain with her mom hidden from her father's world or continue her journey.

The sequel to Aurelia is a terrific high school age thriller as the heroine seeks to get away from her deadly home and meet her subjects. Robert is her most loyal follower as danger is everywhere from paid assassins to outlaws. The encounter between mother and daughter is incredible passionate; however the heroine's inner moral compass will determine what she will do as she has a strong ethical value system (must be maternal DNA).

A Yearning to Read Review

Welcome back to Aurelia's world. She's no longer a friend in her kingdom - not even a guest. And yet, her exile has given her the chance to get away and travel the world. She has wanted to see the deserts, the frontier, to talk to the people of Tyralt and seek their needs...and now she is finally going. Robert is coming too. Robert, who kissed her that day after their ride together. Robert, who has been her friend since they were young and who just recently saved her life...multiple times. Aurelia doesn't know the dangers that await her in her exile, but she does know that she has to get away from her murdering family and to possibly even find a way to save her kingdom from destruction. If only she wasn't falling in love with Robert... Saving her country could be so much easier.
My thoughts -
After waiting nearly a year to read this book, it's finally here. It's not just a thought or an idea anymore, it's actually in my hands. And I have had the immense honor and pleasure of being one of the very first to read it.
I was a fan of Aurelia from the very start, when I read it in three days (reading the whole last half on the third day, it was that good). But I have to admit, I didn't give much thought to what would happen in book #2. I honestly couldn't think of the wonders that I could be possibly be introduced to in book #2. There were so many options...so many ways it could go...I contented myself to waiting for the book to come out.
Oh boy. OOOOOHH boy. Let me just say first that Anne Osterlund is one talented writer. Her skill and style are so perfect for the type of books that she writes. I was so amazed by what I read when I first opened the book, how she describes everything, how she incorporates the world around her characters into how they feel. Really amazing. It was action packed and full to the brim with more mystery. The hard lives of the the people in Tyralt, the secrets behind Aurelia's mother's disappearance... It all unfolded with suspense and kept me sucked in without falter.
And then there are the characters. Aurelia keeps true to her personality and what she believes in. She is headstrong and a great leader. And all the while she is growing and maturing. Robert is the same kind-hearted, giving, loving young man. And he, too, grows and matures. By the end of this book they've been through so much together that you can't help but feel attached to them, even more so than in Aurelia.
Favorite character -
Aurelia and Robert tie. I know, I know, they're both lead roles. But I love them too much to be able to pick anyone else. At the end of the first book, I thought I loved Robert...but now I love him even more! You just can't help but respect him!
Favorite aspects/scenes -
The way Aurelia and Robert grow during their journey. It truly is an amazing example of growing and learning (and how to build characters well in a story). They mold into who they are - together and apart. (Also, until half-way through this book, Robert was still a boy... At the end, however, he was a man. It was amazing to see that transition and for it to be so clear and perfect for the story!) And that brings me to my second and third favorite parts of the book...the love story and the different ways the characters sacrifice during their journey. Seriously, this book is awesome.
One word to sum up this book -
Unexpected. Really and truly, I was not expecting this book to be what it was. GREAT!
