    Flat and Healthy Belly

Ask your doctor about belly fat. You will learn about a special kind of fat that resides deep within your torso. This so called `visceral fat' is the kind of fat that is the most difficult to get rid of. Not only that -- too much of visceral fat is also dangerous to your health.

The co-author of the book, Cynthia Sass, has developed a "belly-shrinking eating plan that is grounded in the latest and most credible science and offers the most filling, satisfying, and delicious meals that you will ever have the pleasure of eating." However Liz Vacareillo's vision went beyond food. In her book she proposes mental tips, tricks and strategies that are designed to inspire, motivate, and "set you up for a better relationship with food for the rest of your life!"

The Flat Belly Diet Program takes 32 days and it is divided into two parts - the Four-Day Anti-Bloat Jumpstart, and the Four-Week Eating Plan. These 32 days is just enough time for one to make appropriate dietary changes leading to a new lifestyle. After you learn the program and observe desired changes in your body, Liz gives you the tools to keep your belly flat for the rest of your life.

The program is not only about getting your body to fit your desired dress size, but it is also (and especially so) about feeling confident, powerful and proud of you body. Essentially Liz offers to her readers to adapt a new way of living. And this is what appeals most to me. The new lifestyle that results not only in a flat belly, but that also has a detoxifying effect and lets you live healthier and longer. This is a good continuation of the idea so well presented in "Can We Live 150 Years" --Your Body Maintenance Handbook" with a few chapters specifically devoted to dieting programs and body cleansing. To properly understand how your body works and to get the most of the program I suggest reading "Your Body Maintenance Handbook" BEFORE "Flat Belly Diet."

One of the best weight loss plans out there!

I highly recommend this book if you are looking to lose that "belly" or "muffin top" you've been fighting to get rid of. The plan is based on sound scientific research, the food is really good and you actually lose inches off your midsection as promised! I wasn't very hungry on this plan and couldn't believe I could eat foods like avocados, nuts, olives and yes, even chocolate. Give it a try - you'll really be glad you did!

    Best ever for loseing weight

My husband and I are finding the "Flat Belly Diet" easy to follow and it has food you really want to eat. We have only used this book a month and I have lost 12lb and my husband 15lb. It has sugestions for the times when you have to grab a quick lunch from a resturant. Also if you get the "Flat Belly Diet Cookbook", you get all the tools you need to lose weight and keep it off. Both books are great! This one really works and it is balanced.

You may buy the book but not their support

Oprah and Rachel Ray had the authors and some test cases on their shows and I thought it made sense. I purchased their book on-line and was disappointed to discover it did not include anything regarding being a vegetarian. I went online, wrote to their site, was contacted immediately and told someone would get back to me. I'm still waiting. I was so excited to get started but here I am - still waiting.

BAD AND UNHEALTHY AND TONS OF PROCESSED FOODS

Another fad diet to get your money. I bought the book for my mom after a co-worker told me it is easy to read since she is her 70s. I am a pharmacist and studied nutrition. To tell readers to eat processed foods is a dangerous advice from Prevention magazine. The types of foods they recommend are dangerous such as margarine and commercial cereals. I think there are better diets out there with the right information and with nothing processed. I made a mistake.

12lbs down and counting! The PERFECT diet for ridding the baby fat! And I SUCK at diets!

I began the FBD on 1/10/2009. To date, I have lost 12lbs and 6.5 inches around my stomach... and I am continuing to lose the weight! This diet, no, lifestyle augmentation has made a dramatic, positive impact on me and my family. I would reccomend the FBD to anyone who has had ENOUGH!!!
For me, after having two children, my body was SCREAMING for a wakeup call. My "ah-ha moment" appeared to me when I saw a few pictures of myself at a wedding. I looked H-U-G-E! I saw the diet online, and looked into it. It wasn't until my doctor suggested it to me, when I purchased the book online... it's cheaper online!

The first four days aren't a cake walk, but, hey... it's only 4 days!! HELLO??! Totally 'do'able. And, if you can get some exercise in 3 times a week-- or more-- then weight will melt off of you. The food is wonderful and low sodium and filling. The sassy water is refreshing, no matter how daunting the ingredients are. You can get super creative with the recipes and snacks. I suggest doing the diet with a buddy as well as journaling, as corny as it sounds, EVERYTHING you put in your fat yap! Let me stress one thing: YOU HAVE TO WANT TO LOSE THE WEIGHT! WANTING and WISHING are two different things. I am still working at this, and my goal is to lose 30lbs. I am nearly halfway there. Buy the book if you are ready to be thinner and healthier.

I LOST 12 POUNDS IN THREE WEEKS!

I was unhappy with my weight and saw an ad for 'The Flat Belly Diet.' I tried it and have lost 12 pounds. It's all the foods that I like to eat anyway, but the book shows you how to put them together into 400- calorie meals. It gives you exercise options, too, and a food journal. I'm giving copies to some of my friends for gifts.

    Belly fat, meet your match!

For years, I have been looking to rid myself of all this belly fat. It's just hard. So, when I came across this book, I had to have it. Of course, it's not that revolutionary--eat more grains, etc.--but it does have good points to make and it makes them well. You have to take control of your situation and get it under control. So, therefore, if you are looking for a quick fix, this prob. isn't it. However, if you want to invest time and effort, this can work.

Another way to lose weight. Written simple and effective. My friends and I having success with this book and Weight Training Workouts and diet plan by James Orvis. I think if people added weight training(the right way) to their fitness and weight loss goals they would be amazed. My 4 girlfriends and I have lost 9-18lbs each since starting. We are believers and loving it!!

    Not For Men!

There is some good information in this book, but please know that it is definitely targeted at women. What particularly disappointed me is that the calorie counts in the book - for the 4-day Flush plus the 28-day diet itself - are calcuated for women. The book states that men can find their equivalent calorie counts on the website, flatbellydiet.com. I went to the website but the information wasn't there. When I emailed the company for help, I was told that they didn't have the male calorie count information, and they recommended I buy a different book. Not cool!

    Not your typical diet

The Flat Belly Diet isn't your typical weight loss program. Since it targets the excess fat that lingers around your waist, it doesn't go after it how you might expect. From MUFAs at dinner to changing your attitude, the book shows you how to use workouts and diet to trim your waistline over a 32 day period.

Another book I enjoyed this week that a friend recommended to help me with emotional eating is The Emotional Intelligence Quick Book.

Another great "tool" for the fitness/diet toolbox!

I try to gain at least some benefit from any fitness book that I pick up. This book definitely provides some great nuggets of information and direction, for basically anyone with any level of fitness/diet expertise. A beginner will learn alot, while an expert can still use this book to think of things in different ways and reinforce other theories and thoughts. Definitely worthwhile.

    Changing Eating Habits

I got this book two weeks ago and started reading it because a promotional booklet was sent to me by mail and I got interested in the testimonial cases shown in the booklet. It's easy to read and they give a list of shopping items to buy before you start the diet so that's a convenient feature. They also start the diet with a 4-day anti-bloating diet with a water drink that you can make at home that's very refreshing. I am finding it a bit difficult to change my eating habits and buying all the items I regularly do not buy but I understand that this is for my health not only to lose weight so I am willing to make the changes and learn how to make better choices. I hope this is helpful.

This diet is based on sound scientific study

I just finished reading this book from cover to cover, twice, and I'm really curious as to why there are reviews on this website stating that this book advocates the use of "fake foods", such as margerine. Nothing could be farther from the truth, and it simply is NOT in this diet book. The whole premise is about using monounsaturated fatty acids, such as olive oil, nuts, seeds, avocado, etc. with each meal. Meals made up of whole foods, such as vegetables, fruits, lean protein, and whole grains. Sure, there's fat free milk and fat free yogurt, but not "fake foods"! So, for those of you reading those other reviews, take'em with a grain of salt. I think they're either reading comprehension challenged, or they're reviewing the wrong book!

    You can eat chocolate!

As a woman about to turn 50, I've essentially been on some kind of "diet" since puberty reared its body-changing head. Having struggled with my weight since I first recognized that society expected me to, I've purchased almost as many diet books as I have pairs of shoes. That being said, if you want an eating plan that easily fits into the way most people want to eat, this is the book. The Flat-Belly Diet is not really a diet, but a change in how you view your relationship with food and how to eat healthily and well without feeling deprived. The idea of four or five small meals per day, each eaten with a MUFA (monounsaturated fatty acid), has completely changed the way I put my meals together over the course of a day. The four-day "jump start" is made for women who are smaller in stature than I am (5'10"), but the rest of the plan is easy to follow, satisfying, and creates meals that even my non-dieting husband loves. There are tips about how to eat during holidays, parties, in restaurants (including fast-food) that show you how easily you can stick to a "diet" while still enjoying the social aspects of eating and drinking. The exercise plan is pretty fun and includes a lot of walking, (an activity that most of us can find ways to incorporate into our day without much effort) and toning with light weights (which can be done at home). No trips to the gym, no eating only kiwi fruit while standing on your head, just sensible delicious food and reasonable exercise that will help anyone feel healthier and more energetic while losing weight. Drink the Sassy Water too...it's the best!
