Overview

It has been five years since Wendy Darling and her brothers returned home after a harrowing ordeal in which they'd "gone missing" for several days and nights. To Wendy, they returned by fairy magic, fresh from the fight with Captain Hook, a little mussed up but none the worse for wear.

But to the rest of the world, Wendy and her brothers were abducted and put through such a traumatic experience, Wendy has subconsciously taken to hiding the truth from her brothers and herself by making up stories. Fairy stories – about a boy named Peter Pan and a world called Neverland.

Life is anything but a fairy story for them now. Wendy is being subjected to unwanted psychiatric therapy, her brothers are bullied at school, and the family is falling apart.

Then, one mist-filled night, a billowing black flag parts the clouds in the sky like the fin of a shark. It bears the stark white symbol of a skull and crossbones upon it.

Wendy has been forced to leave Neverland behind. But it is far from finished with her. In the blink of an eye, her world is once more turned upside down by a pixie in human form, a one-handed captain far more handsome and intriguing than she remembered him to be – and by a little boy… who grew up after all.

Blog - D. Kang
Mixing in a dose of reality with fantasy was done with such ease and talent that the reader is instantly whisked away to their own Neverland. The harsh reality of the Darling children's return to the "real" world and the reintroduction of some of the Neverland friends is entrancing. I must say that the new focus on Captain Hook and his story was brilliant!
Blog - Chaos Mykonos
Forever Neverland is a bold and daring journey straight into the very heart of Neverland. Wendy, Peter, Tink and Hook are brought back to life in captivating detail with added twists and new stories to tell. Their stories are as exciting and adventurous as ever as they deliver the heart-wrenching truth of what it means to be a real Lost Boy... or girl. I absolutely loved and was touched by Forever Neverland. I was caught up from the beginning to the electrifying end. F

Very charming sequel to Peter Pan

The title drew my eye in the list of deal-priced books, some of the reader reviews intrigued me, and the sample pages got me hooked (no pun intended)(okay, maybe intended a little bit)! My expectations were fairly low, but they were dramatically exceeded. I don't want to spoil it for anyone by revealing which characters' chemistry made the story so compelling. The story is very charmingly told, and a few paragraphs actually took my breath away. Absolutely worth the price paid.

It looks like the book is self published. It is one more example of how ebooks are changing the game for the better -- I would probably have never had an opportunity to read this story without ebooks and self publishing.

If I could give it negative stars, I would!

Story line sounded intriguing, but it was a monumental flop. I didn't mind, and actually quite enjoyed, the alternate personas these classic characters took on. What I didn't enjoy was the classic tale being brought into modern times. The whole point of this story was to escape the technological advances (industrialization, etc). Next, I didn't enjoy the writing style. For me it was choppy and didn't easily transition. I didn't care for the complete disappearance, no explanation given, of one of the characters. Also, the ending was a complete RIP-OFF of Inkheart. Don't waste your time or $1.00 here.

I loved it and especially the romance in it. IT shows Wendys awesome teen side (always knew she would be awesome). It took me a while though to picture captain hook as handsom but i just gave him a male model face with blue eyes and long black hair....only a man like the captain can pull it off beside some actors. WHAT SUCKS IS THAT THE SEQUEL COMES OUT IN NOVEMBER 2012 AND THATS A WHOOOOOLE YEAR AWAY? BUT IF WHAT OLD PEOPLE SAY THAT TIME FLYS QUICKLY IS TRUE , I'LL SLAP AND PAINT MYSELF BLUE IF ITS 2012 TOMOROW!!! I do wonder though if Wendy writes a story that she can write letters to hooks and he recieves them and writes back.... something thhat makes you say thats true love you know? Not necessarily my idea but you know what i mean. This book is always in my head now because i wonder to myself WHAT IS GUNNA HAPPEN IN THE SEQUEL????????? Luckly for me school starts for me next week so ill be busy.. Unluckly all thats going through my head is whats going to hapen? I hope i dont sound obssessd but its cuz im bored of going to the beach, swimming and other stuff . Neverland is gone but will Wendy create another? In my head she will but only for a yearly meeting or something so she can see Peter pan and Hook and Tink. Like a .... a reunion! I HOPE ALL OF YOU LOVED THE BOOK AS I DO AND SOMEHOW THE BOOK COMES OUT AT LEAST IN AUGUST !!! OR SHE FORGETS HER OTHER BOOKS AND FOCUSES ON THIS ANDIT GOES OUT NEXT MONTH!

    In love with this book!

Being a Peter Pan fanatic I never thought I could like a continuation of the original story, but this book proved me wrong! I was sucked into it the second I read the sample, and I finished the book in less than a day. It's one of my new favorites! The only problem I had with it was that it had to end!

    An interesting read

This author is really an amazing author. I really enjoyed the characters and the familiar settings of the story. It was like meeting with old-time friends again. What I did not enjoy was the implication of who would win the girl in the end. I am a long time fan of Peter Pan - and I will always see him as the real hero. The suggestion that Wendy should be attracted to Hook - that just seemed so-o-o wrong. She was a little girl when they first met - and he, an older man, most likely, more than twice her age! I always thought she saw him more as a type of a father figure, myself. And... what's this? Neverland is no more? How can that be? That doesn't seem right either. The idea of that left me feeling like one of my childhood dreams had died - a place where creative magical imagination resides - a place much akin to Wonderland. I don't know... I only hope the sequel has an ending that is much better. I was very disappointed with the way this story ended. Still in all, it was a good read, well-written, with a great idea for a story plot (aside from the frequent made typos and the inconsistencies with its time line). The author has demonstrated an amazing talent for storytelling.

I was disgusted by this book, and I feel I would be doing others

I was disgusted by this book, and I feel I would be doing others an injustice if I did not write this review. The story not only had issues with repetitive grammar, but it lost all the magic of the original Peter Pan. I understand that an author can do whatever she pleases, but I was hoping for more. I don't want to give anything away but this book was God-awful and I found absolutely nothing to enjoy about it and wish I hadn't wasted the little money I did on its purchase. Do NOT buy this book.

I have not read it but can tell from the summary I don't want to. Peter Pan has always been my favorite fairy tale, but this book would crush that. The Wendy Myra Angela Darling I grew up day dreaming about would NEVER like Captain Hook! This book would ruin my perspective of all the characters. If anyone in the book should get together it should be Peter Pan and Wendy. Agreed?

I love new outlooks on old stories. This is one of them. I love how the little details from peter pan were expounded on. This is a great read. Very entertaining and not drawn out. The book reads very quickly and leaves you dying for the next one. I cant wait to read the next one, and see where the author takes the characters. Never thought I would side with Cap. Hook, but here I am! Read it, you wont regret it!!!

    ***SPOILERS***

Okay, may I just say, EEWW, EW, EW, EEWWWWW! Wendy and Captain James Hook? That is nothing other than just plain wrong!! Hook captures her and her brothers, promising to Wendy that no harm will come to any of them so long as she promises to never try and escape (awww, how romantic.) During the approximate TWO DAYS she spends with him, they somehow manage to fall in love with each other. I guess the reason that she is supposed to love him is because she learns the story about how Peter cuts off his hand, which is completely awful, but still it would never be enough for me to turn my back on Peter, who she had been supposedly writing heroic stories about for the past five YEARS. How can she so quickly forget all of the adventures they shared together, their friendship, battling against Hook and exploring Neverland?
I bought this book expecting a love story between PETER and wendy, not Hook. And, is it just me or is the fact that hook and Wendy are all of a sudden in love when I'm pretty sure that for one: hes old, and also two: the vast majority of their expirences together occured when she was only twelve years old, is extremly and wrong in a way that can NEVER be overcome?
I read this book for as long as I could, which ended around the point when wendy and hook kissed (barf). Also I have a HUGE problem with Peter all of a sudden being the bad guy. This very nearly ruined Neverland for me! I dont like this book, nor do I reccomend it. I LOVE YOU PETER PAN!!

    Dissappointing

The idea and plot line of the book were good, but the book takes a turn for the weird after Hook comes into play. I also found the storyline for slightly to be incomplete. It may not have been predictable, but it completely deminished a childhood tale for me. I would not reccomend.
