    Great so far

I have to say I was a bit thrown off by statements about spelling and grammar. I'm happy that I followed my gut. This book, so far, is pretty good. It's well written and I like the charector and plot development. With that said, as an American it's really embarassing when I read comments that state the author can't spell and has a load of grammatical errors. A lesson to those reviewers: the story takes place in Australia, once a British colony, therefore they use "s" when we usually use "z." Not always, but more often than not. Furthermore, the UK system of puncuation is usually more conversational, like when one pauses for a breath, rather than a system that sticks to hard and fast comma, semi-comma and other puncuation rules. Just a thought to those put off by poor editing, like me. I now realize that the internet is for haters.

    Another great epic

1400+ pages, but the novel flowed nicely. At times, I was surprised to find myself genuinely scared, and unsure where the book was heading, but I was never disappointed. The end was a little weak, but that's only because it did not end the way I wanted it to. Highly recommend

This book was horrible. Too much explicit sex and too much use of the f word.

    Outstanding!

And its free, amazing. Great characters, moral dilemmas, current revelent issues. The battle between corporations and human rights taken to a level only the author could imagine. Just finished one hour before the new year. Activism is my resolution.

    Wow!

This book was amazing! A scary futuristic potrayal of what our world may become one day. Microchipped people, no more money, and a death sentence for anyone who trys to get their freedom.

A gripping view of a dystopian society

I am a fan of dystopian fiction, and the premise of this book appealed to me. It's not that far of a stretch to imagine a society where everyone has a chip implanted with all their personal and financial information, or where public security becomes a corporate commodity. Also, the author has given a lot of thought to how society would be transformed if transportation became a matter of stepping into a portal. There is a lot to like in this novel. The characters are developed and three-dimensional, the good guys are flawed and several of the bad guys have a depth that puts their evil in context. The novel develops quickly and takes you on a roller coaster ride until the very end. Although the initial meeting of the protagonists is too reminiscent of "The Terminator," the remainder of the plot is complex and fast-paced. My only disappointment is that the ending was resolved a little too neatly for my taste regarding some of the characters. However, six months after reading it, I still think of some of the elements the author has created. Do not be put off by alternate spellings of words (like using "s" instead of "z"), but the manuscript would have benefited greatly if a qualified editor had taken one last pass to eliminate the many grammatical errors and technical errors such as some missing connector words, which were mildly distracting. All in all, a very good read, and highly recommended for fans of this genre.

    Very thought provoking.

The author takes you on a high action chase through a plausible future where crime is almost abosished at the expense of personal freedom. The characters have interesting personalities and you find yourself getting caught up in their ordeal.

    Good read

Although weighing in at over 1400 pages, I found the book to be a compelling read with an easy flow of plot twists to keep you intrigued, and well defined characters that had you really rooting for the good guys. The ending was fresh and surprising, keeping you in the story and tying up any loose ends - something other free e-books don't always do. I'm sure any book editor worth their salt could have reduced the number of pages without losing the flavor of the story, but for me, long books are like taking a two week vacation instead of a weekend trip.

As far as the grammar and mis-spells debate goes, yes there are some, but not enough to stay away from such a well thought-out and written novel. I find most of the author's vision of this possible future dead on for a real possibility for our own world in it's voracious consumerism. After all, haven't we already seen for ourselves corporate greed impacting people's lives?

Looking forward to reading other offerings by this author.

    Long. But solid read

Interesting story on what could happen to our society. A bit long, but still entertaining.

    Pretty good!

A lot of grammar mistakes that gradually become annoying and not because of the language difference. Probably poor editing or maybe no editing but if you can get past those this book is well worth it. I could not stop reading.

    Great sci-fi adventure

I really enjoyed this look at the future. The characters made you care about them. I would have liked more background info on how society arrived at this place, but all in all this was a great book, especially for a freebie.

    Ok

This book was quite confussing for the most part. It had way too many story lines, but they eventually fit together in the end. I like the message it was sending.

    Disappointed SciFi fan!

I've read all the classics and many new style scifi novels. This one just wasn't what I enjoyed. The book (for me) was ruined by the utterly gross sections. Could have been excellent, but...as I said, just not my style of novel.

    Entertaining and futuristic

This book was very entertaining, its based in the year 2066 so its futuristic and has some sci fi into it, in regards to the portal traveling.. about how corporation start controlling everything we do and have so much influence on the government. Characters; Jen, Dan,Cookie and Samantha start fighting back and get into lots of trouble. The book is fast paced..

    Very good read...nearly 1500 pages...

A very good read. Could get confusing with different players (had to do a search to remind myself who was who on the periferal players mid-way through) but the plot was interesting and thought provoking. Am at odds with the ending but both the way it ended and the way I wish it had ended fit with the flow of the book.

Point: When an author is from the UK or Australia, oftentimes a "z" is replaced with an "s" so not all of what others thought were type-o's were actually type-o's. That's not to say there are none but there certainly aren't enough to be distracting to anyone who isn't as anal as I am.
