Karin Kallmaker's books are character driven with sensitive, realistic storylines that really make the reader care about what happens next. 'Frosting on the Cake' allows Kallmaker fans to reaquaint themselves with their favorite characters. Reading it is almost like a reunion of old friends. For those not lucky enough to have read this author's books previously, this is a unique introduction with just enough in each short story to whet your appetite for the original novel. By no means a pastiche of the original novels, each short story stands alone as a fully fleshed out piece leaving the reader amply satisfied. I myself, while reading at least two of these short story sequels, and one prequel, remembered how much I enjoyed the originals and picked them up again for an enjoyable second reading. And you know what, love is better the second time around.
