Overview

Reviews

"Umstead can write an action-packed adventure story better than most. He is an artist in designing a high-tech battlefield and weaving in the human element with his character's depth and color. If you like action in a science fiction setting then you really need to pick this up from book one and give it a shot." - Tom Clementson, The Kindle Book Review

"Umstead delivers his best action packed SciFi thriller yet. Tightly written and beautifully plotted, Umstead's concluding story is the type of page-turner that keeps the reader engaged from start to finish. You will cheer at the victories and cry with the failures. An absolute joy to read." - R.B. Wood, author of The Prodigal's Foole

Product Description

GABRIEL'S REVENGE
Book 3 of the Evan Gabriel Trilogy

A missile has no conscience. It is an inanimate steel object: cold, emotionless. But once ignited, it burns white hot inside, and cannot be shut off. Fired in combat, it has but one objective: the total destruction of its intended target. And it will only stop when its objective has been achieved, or it runs out of fuel.

Not all missiles are made of steel.

North American Federation Navy Commander Evan Gabriel thought it was over. Returning from a mission on the far-off world of Eden, he finds that Mars is in a state of political upheaval. Two major dome cities are now under the control of ambitious and ruthless men backed by the scheming South American Republic. Friends are in trouble, Renay Gesselli is missing, and the future of a world is in flux while rival governments bicker behind closed doors.

From the ice-bound planet of Poliahu, to the dangerous jungle world of Eden, and back to his adopted home of Mars, Evan Gabriel has witnessed death follow him. Now, he's turning the tables, and no force would stand in his way.

Approximately 80,000 words

Also available: Gabriel's Redemption (Book 1), Gabriel's Return (Book 2), Gabriel's Journey (complete collection)

Meet the Author

Steve Umstead has been the owner of a Caribbean & Mexico travel company for the past ten years, but never forgot his lifelong dream of becoming an author. After a successful stab at National Novel Writing Month, he decided to pursue his dream more vigorously…but hasn’t given up the traveling.

Steve lives in scenic (tongue-in-cheek) New Jersey with his wife, two kids, and several bookshelves full of other authors’ science fiction novels. Gabriel’s Redemption was his debut novel, published in February of 2011; Gabriel’s Return, the second in the trilogy, launched in August; the finale, Gabriel’s Revenge, book 3, hit the virtual shelves in December.

Like riding your favorite roller-coaster with hands in the air! Gabriel takes his lumps like a true champion and always dishes out more than he gets! Almost sad to reach the end...hoping for a new series!

    A fun read

Not the typical military scifi I read but really enjoyed the detailed and original story and recommend it to any who enjoy the genre. The books focus more on the setting and characters than the specific science which makes for an imersive fast moving story.

We need more heroes like Evan Gabriel!

Great end to the trilogy. The balance between space action and surface action was perfect. A quick fun read.

An Amazing Ending to an Epic Trilogy

Evan Gabriel has foiled the SARs plans yet again but they have something he wants very badly and will do anything to get: Renay.

Rescuing her will take all of his skills and the help of his loyal team. But the SAR will stop at nothing to control Mars and to get rid of the thorn in their side. But this particular thorn has no intention of giving up. And he comes packing some serious heat.

Through tragedy and triumph, Umstead weaves this tale of a man who is sick of death. But to save the woman he loves, he will have to visit his old friend once again.

I am sad to see the end of this trilogy, and yet couldn't put it down in order to savoy every last word and draw out the enjoyment as long as possible. I doubt I'm the only one who thinks this trilogy will look mighty good on the big screen. Hat's off to Umstead for finishing up this amazing trilogy with a bang! I look forward to more from this author!

A fun scifi romp in our own solar system!

This is the third book in the Evan Gabriel trilogy. I highly recommend reading the first 2 before approaching this book.

Gabriel's Revenge is a fun scifi action novel that starts on Mars and takes you back to the Moon and ends on the tranquil beaches of the Caribbean. The action is intense throughout the book making it hard to put down. The weapons, while not unique, are familiar to any scifi fan. I especially enjoyed the space rescue operations. I was easily able to visualize the operation and I think the author did well in explaining the potential problems that could arrive during the situation. Finally, the connections to his past tie up all three books very well.

My primary criticism is with the strong relationships with the supporting characters. While Gabriel feels responsible for each and every death, the connections he makes with others are very deep and they nearly sacrifice everything for him. I never develop a strong connection to this character so some of the response feel forced.
