the mystery just gets better and better in this series. just when you think you have the answer....you don't. b.j. has a real talent for twisted plots and puzzles wound into a romantic story. i honestly couldn't put this one down, there were no stopping points in this story. i'm hoping the next in this series has all the answers, but then again, i don't want it to end. buy it read it and enjoy the mystery.

Many of the answers are finally coming out and becoming clearer. But there is still something hidden to come. After reading the Beartooth series and the Hamilton series I think it's really the story of Sheriff Curry and his wife Lynette.

Finally! Harper’s story. I’ve been dying to get to know her better throughout the series. Her outgoing attitude and mixed feelings with respect to the events surrounding her family was a lot of fun. The way that she comes to life was so approachable that she seemed oh so very real to me. I loved Brody as well. His conflicting concern for so many people vies with his need to do what’s right. He was so strong and loveable, and the perfect counterpoint for Harper’s impulsiveness. Getting to know more about the family`s past put a lot of things throughout the series into perspective. It also opened up a great many questions leading into the next novel in the series. This balance gave me chills more than once. The way that little facts pop out at different times gave me a few ‘aha’ moments while also drawing me further and further into the mystery that spans this series. This is all backed up with Daniels’ fantastic writing. She drew me into the tale, allowing me to participate in it, rather than simply reading it. The suspense throughout this novel was both apparent and subtle. The undercurrent gave me chills at times while I was trying to unravel it all. At the same time, the picturesque and vividly explicit descriptions allowed me to picture each moment of it. Once again, Daniels has created a novel that I had a blast reading. Romance and suspense combine in perfect proportion, ending with the perfect lead-in to the next novel in the series. Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

Fourth in a series. I am enjoying this journey. The Hamilton family is full of hard working siblings. This story belongs to Harper. She is back from school and trying to find her place. She runs into her childhood crush from a neighboring ranch. The families are not exactly fast friends. To make matters worse, when she finally gets to spend time with Brody, a dead body pushes them apart again. After a lot of sleuthing together and apart, Harper and Brody fall for each other and risk family, life, and heart to stay with each other. I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next to see how the next Hamilton finds their match. This is highly recommended.

B.J. has done it again! Hard Rain kept me on the edge of my seat from the beginning sentence to the last paragraph! Even though it's 355 pages, I groaned when it ended! I wanted more! The characters are so intertwined and the suspense has me staying up so late, I don't get any sleep! In this book, we follow the 35 year old murder of Maggie McTavish when her cousin, Brody, and one of the Hamilton girls, Harper, are out riding horses and happen to find the body which has been exposed by a recent rainstorm. This sets off Hamilton family secrets, scandals in the community and even though the murder happened 35 years ago, there are still plenty of people for the sheriff to talk to! Maggie had been rumored to have had an affair with JD Hamilton who was Harper's grandfather - a senator and twice her age, but the Hamilton family refuses to believe this. B.J. did something different in this book which I thoroughly enjoyed. Each chapter she went back and "flashbacked" to parts of the actual meetings between Maggie and JD Hamilton 35 years ago. It gave the story so much more authenticity! I always love how B.J. uses secondary characters in her storylines. This book was no different. Brody and Harper decide to also investigate the murder on their own, which doesn't make the sheriff happy AND it puts them in danger. I cannot WAIT until we find out what actually happened to Harper's mother, Sarah! She has been gone for 22 years but has recently returned, saying she has amnesia! We continue to get more information in this book! I definitely recommend this book!!!

I can't believe that this series just keeps getting better and better. I've loved all the books that I've read in this series and the next one won't be out soon enough for me. They are just so good that I couldn't put them down and this one was awesome. There's so much going on in each book and the twists are nail biting and heart wrenching. Brody McTavish and Harper Hamilton are star crossed lovers. The animosity between the two families is old history that has just been thrust into Brody and Harpers laps, and its about to threaten everything they hold dear.

A captivating romantic thriller set in gorgeous, rugged Montana at the foot of the Crazies "I thought you would at least help me retrieve my horse." He stopped and mumbled under his breath, "If your horse has any sense he'll keep going." HARD RAIN by B.J. Daniels is the fourth installment in the author's spectacular The Montana Hamilton's series set against the magnificently beautiful, but dangerous, wilds of Montana. Each installment features one of the six beautiful, headstrong Hamilton women. Their father is Senator Hamilton who is running for president. Their mother has recently returned from the grave. Love does not come easy for them as it takes special men to get these wild Hamilton fillies to the altar. HARD RAIN is the story of Harper Hamilton and her neighbor, Brody McTavish. It begins with an action-packed scene in which Brody rescues Harper from her runaway horse, or so he thinks. The pace doesn't let up until the last sentence has been read with a plethora of angst, high-stakes action, thrilling suspense and emotional romance. While searching for Harper's wayward horse, Harper and Brody come upon a mummified body belonging to Maggie, Brody's cousin who has been missing since before Brody was born. Finding her body reignites a scandal related to a forbidden love that ended badly and that involves the Hamiltons - not welcome news to Senator Hamilton's campaign. It also adds fuel to the simmering family feud between the Hamiltons and the McTavish's with Harper's and Brody's attraction caught in the middle akin to that of Romeo's and Juliet's. Favorite characters from the series make appearances. The interactions and bantering between the Sheriff and his snooping wife never fails to amuse and I always look forward to catching up with the Sheriff's crows. Before I started reading B.J.'s books, I never noticed the black birds... now I see them everywhere and watch them just like they watch us. The Sheriff's office has been part of the rumor mill throughout all the books and I laughed out loud when he said this: "We seem to have more leaks in my office than an old wooden rowboat." You think? As with other books in this series, there are multiple plots that the author smoothly interweaves. The romance and the primary mystery are fully contained within this book so HARD RAIN can be fully enjoyed as a standalone, if that is your preference. However, there's also an underlying current of political intrigue related to the re-appearance of Senator Hamilton's wife who had been thought long-dead, which has flowed throughout this series. The author seamlessly fills in any previous history that the reader would need to know. I'm betting that once you read one book in the series, you'll be hooked. I know I can't wait for the next book which will be Cassidy Hamilton's story! I discovered B.J. Daniels a few years ago and have inhaled each of her new releases as they are published, while slowly catching up with ones I'd missed. When I pick up one of her books, I can rest assured that I'm in for sexy cowboys, edge of my seat multi-layered suspense, magnificent western settings and subtle romance that will leave me swooning and hankering for more. I highly recommend HARD RAIN to anyone who enjoys romantic thrillers set in the gorgeous, rugged west at the foot of the Crazies, i.e., the Crazy Mountains!
