Great writing, dark stories with a twist! Very Engaging

Reminds me a bit of Faulkner, Welty and O'Connor. Last story is a surprising sci-fi story.

    ok book

I had to read a preview chapter for the book which caused a chemical reaction. The novel had finally started on page 57. The girls name was Godzilla and her best friends was her grandpa before he had died. Godzilla's now is in a classroom and her teacher's name was Mrs Henderson. Godzilla was in the 8th grade. Her mother was a real estate and she was in trouble and now her principle had to call her mother now. I enjoyed this novel. ShelleyMA

The title says it all ...

It's a blast for your brain.

Idabel Allen has nailed the vernacular of ordinary people. Her stories tell on the characters in phrases and descriptions that make their voices alive in your head. Great shot.

Allen has also presented us with a delightful cross-section of personalities so that the reader cannot fail to identify with someone in every story, or to point at some character or situation and think, "I know him," "I've been in her shoes."

Let's hope there are more stories in Idabel Allen for our enjoyment.
