    I Also Recommend:

    A little disappointing...

Heroes Adrift is a bit more densely plotted than the previous two books in Moira J. Moore's Heroes series, and as much as I enjoyed that, it seems to have come at the expense of Lee and Taro's relationship. The fun almost-romantic moments Moore weaves between them in the other books formed a large part of my reasons for continuing to read the series, and while I understand their relationship is constantly shifting in its dynamic, I was disappointed to find the sense of tenderness and consideration that had come to characterize their partnership all but eliminated in this volume. Still an entertaining story, despite some shaggy loose ends, but I'm hopeful that Lee and Taro will be back to their usual selves in the fourth novel.

    Fantastic!

Don't let the covers of the books fool you, the Heroes series is a wonderful and unique fantasy series. The third book sees Lee and Taro off on a completely new adventure away from High Scape and to another country, Flatwell which doesn't have Sources and Shields.

I loved the new locale since I felt like it provided some welcome opportunity for growth and change for the characters. I loved how their relationship progressed as they learned to navigated this world in which they were utterly useless. I think the characters and the plot were well developed and it was a fun and quick read. Highly recommended.

    Entertaining and Easy Reading

This book was a little slow at first but did pick up as the story and plot developed. It was not one of the best books I have ever read, but I found it entertaining and easy reading. The plot was a little too predictable for my tastes. However, the different characters she put in the story were fun.

Don't let the cover fool you - this is a fantasy novel!

Despite the cover that makes it look like the book is a romance, this is the third in a very entertaining fantasy series. I strongly recommend that you read the first two books (Resenting the Hero and The Hero Strikes Back) before you read this third book, or you will be a bit lost. Plus, they are great reads. I am really glad that Ms. Moore was able find a new publisher. Following on their previous adventures that unfortunately have brought them to the attention of the empress, this book takes Taro and Lee to the southern lands to try to identify and bring back any existing members of the empress' family. Shields and Sources are not accustomed to having to pay for what they need - their life and duty is to the country and in return their needs are given for free (not necessarily willingly, as seen in the previous book!). What happens when the only skills you have are not needed? And you have no money?I picked the first two titles up on a whim and was glad I did. Ms. Moore has done a good job creating an alternate society and some of the realistic issues that come up between individuals.
