Overview

In the world of the Talent Chronicles, kids with supernatural abilities, Talents, are taken away to government-run research facilities from which they do not return. In this sequel to HUSH MONEY, all Joss wants is to be left alone—with Dylan. But as more Talents are imprisoned by the government, everyone’s looking for a leader. Some look to Joss, some to her worst enemy, Marco, whose new criminal plan threatens Joss’s family and friends. Joss wants to stand up to Marco, but Dylan’s protective instincts are putting him in harm’s way. As the stakes get higher, can Joss find a way to embrace both the boy and her hero within?

Heroes 'Til Curfew contains strong language, violence, and some sensuality. Recommended for mature teens and up.

Meet the Author

Susan Bischoff is an incurable romantic with a soft-spot for superheroes, those larger-than-life characters whose supernatural abilities set them apart from everyone else. Some are loved by all and known by none, some are woefully misunderstood and mistreated by those they serve. Traditionally, the life of the super-powered being seemed to her to be one destined for loneliness, and yet so deserving of a happily ever after. The Talent Chronicles series, which tells the stories of superhuman characters in a world that fears and persecutes them, was born out of her desire for happily ever after in the superhero realm. For superhero hook-ups! Superhero Romance! These are stories for those who love romantic storylines in television shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Smallville, and in movie series like Batman, Superman, and The X-Men. She's been known to say, "These are stories for people who wished Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor could have worked things out."

Susan lives in Tennessee with her high-school sweetheart husband, a daughter, two cats, and one, big puppy. She loves most everything girly: sewing, knitting, and other needlework crafts, baking, doll collecting, shojo manga, and is particularly fond of things that are pink. Another favorite pastime is replaying the kissing scene at the end of the BBC's North and South.

    Worth the wait!

In this much anticipated sequel to Bischoff's Hush Money we finally get exactly what we've been waiting for--MOAR JOSS AND DYLAN! The whole he likes me, he likes me not finally comes to fruition against a backdrop of more evil plotting by Marco, which makes him a villain you more than love to hate--you want to destroy. If you thought he was awful in Hush Money, you ain't seen nothin' yet. Bischoff unwaveringly ups the stakes for all the Talents in Fairview who all want to mobilize--and want Joss to lead them. As I read this book I laughed, I cried, and I changed my mind about fifty times about what kind of Talent *I* want because she kept introducing new cool ones. This is a must read for fans of superhero romance.

    Great Story

So this sequel to Hush Money is great. There is an actual relationship between Dylan and Joss. Marco ups his game and shows us just how far he is willing to go. There are more fights and new villans. Joss still wants to help everyone and of course she always gets in trouble because of it, but Dylan is right there with her the whole time. They make a great team and I love their relationship.

    First book was better

I'm about halfway through this book and wondering whether I should bother to finish. There are far too many fight scenes: very "left hook, right cross, left hook" style. In the first book, it was tolerable as it only really came up toward the end, but in this one, it feels like the main character is constantly looking for trouble, policing without any backup. I wouldn't mind her attitude if the writing didn't suffer during these scenes. There's a lot of action that would make for a good tv episode, but dull reading. I'd have liked more character work. We know Joss is socially inept; show us how she deals with this instead of restating the obvious. A survivor looks to compensate for inadequacies, and I'm not seeing enough of that. A last minute, sudden epiphany isn't going to make up for it.

    REALLY good! READ IT!!

I like this book because it tied together a lot of what happened in the first book Hush Money. If you like love, fighting, and pretty much anything else, I'd definitely recommend you read it.

    Strong Second Book

Book stays true to the first in this series and to it's genre. Clean grammar and spelling, fast moving. Could use a little more direction; characters start to lose forward push towards the end, but this can be picked up easily in the next book.

A strong new voice in YA Lit!

Susan Bischoff has created a cool new world for YA Lit. Super-Hero-type "Talents", romance, teen angst, comedy. She covers it all, with good characters that you can't help but root for! In a market flooded with vampires, werewolf's, fairies, etc., it's nice to have something new and fresh as The Talent Chronicles.

    So worth the wait!

I was so looking forward to this book. I was not disappointed. In fact, I think the second book in the Talent Chronicles series is probably even better than the first! Ms. Bischoff, I think, has teenagers' thoughts and feelings down to an art. They were very believable characters and I was pulling for the good guys (and gals) through the whole story. Can't wait to read more about that this 'talented' group of kids. Joss and Dylan and a great couple and the perfect leaders for the group.

Bischoff Knocks Her Sophomore Novel Out of the Park!

With HEROES 'TIL CURFEW, Susan Bischoff has taken her Talent Chronicles series to an entirely new level. She took everything I loved about HUSH MONEY -- the charming narrative voices of Joss and Dylan, the complexity of her characters' relationships, and the realistic portrayal of how teens speak, act, and think -- and amplified it tenfold. We also got to see more of the NIAC, as well as glimpses of a new antagonistic force, the Mob-like Syndicate, and got a deeper insight into the thoughts of villain Marco (and if you hated Marco in HUSH MONEY, believe me, that's nothing compared to the visceral rage and disgust you'll feel toward him in this book).

I will say that this book is more adult than HUSH MONEY, and while I absolutely ADORED the raised stakes, some aspects might not be appropriate for younger readers, or at least not without discussion afterward! Even for me, one of the scenes late in the book between Joss and Marco was extremely difficult for me to read.

That aside -- and like I said, that "more adult" factor increased my enjoyment of HEROES, rather than diminishing it! -- I would heartily recommend this book to anyone and everyone. This series is some of the freshest, most original, most unpredictable YA series I've ever read. With a huge cast of complex characters, a central romance (Joss/Dylan) that is as realistic and romantic as it is undeniably HOT, and a rich narrative voice unlike any I've ever read, HEROES 'TIL CURFEW is a fantastic, unputdownable read!

    Fantastic!

After reading Susan Bischoff's first book, Hush Money, I waited so long for the sequel to come out. When I first started reading Heroes 'Til Curfew, I thought "Hmm, this is going to be as good as Hush Money". Then I kept reading. As good as Hush Money was, Heroes 'Til Curfew was so much better. The author made me feel like I was right there with the characters, through all the action, the emotional scenes, and the suspense. This book was absolutely fantastic! If you buy this book, I promise you will NOT be disappointed. It totally rocks!
