Bischoff Knocks Her Sophomore Novel Out of the Park!
With HEROES 'TIL CURFEW, Susan Bischoff has taken her Talent Chronicles series to an entirely new level. She took everything I loved about HUSH MONEY -- the charming narrative voices of Joss and Dylan, the complexity of her characters' relationships, and the realistic portrayal of how teens speak, act, and think -- and amplified it tenfold. We also got to see more of the NIAC, as well as glimpses of a new antagonistic force, the Mob-like Syndicate, and got a deeper insight into the thoughts of villain Marco (and if you hated Marco in HUSH MONEY, believe me, that's nothing compared to the visceral rage and disgust you'll feel toward him in this book).
I will say that this book is more adult than HUSH MONEY, and while I absolutely ADORED the raised stakes, some aspects might not be appropriate for younger readers, or at least not without discussion afterward! Even for me, one of the scenes late in the book between Joss and Marco was extremely difficult for me to read.
That aside -- and like I said, that "more adult" factor increased my enjoyment of HEROES, rather than diminishing it! -- I would heartily recommend this book to anyone and everyone. This series is some of the freshest, most original, most unpredictable YA series I've ever read. With a huge cast of complex characters, a central romance (Joss/Dylan) that is as realistic and romantic as it is undeniably HOT, and a rich narrative voice unlike any I've ever read, HEROES 'TIL CURFEW is a fantastic, unputdownable read!
