From Barnes & NobleThe Barnes & Noble Review
Hidden in Sight continues Julie E. Czerneda's popular Web Shifters series -- which chronicles the story of Esen, the last known survivor of an alien shape-shifting race, and her human friend, Paul Ragem. Paul is an alien-language specialist, long presumed dead, and Esen is a fugitive, relentlessly sought by some as an unstoppable monster and by others as the possessor of powerful secrets.
Esen and Paul decide to return to Picco's Moon, the place where Esen was born, when they find out that someone is mining Ersh's mountain for its abundant gems, the sacred place where Ersh, the eldest of Esen's Web family, was killed. But returning home isn't as easy as it sounds when everyone in the known universe could be a potential spy or assassin. By the time Esen and Paul finally reach Picco's Moon, an all-out war is about to erupt; and Esen must do everything in her power to save not only the moon and all its native inhabitants but also the last remnants of her Web family. Along the way, young Esen not only visits breathtaking locations like the Nirvana Abyss and sees wondrous creatures like the Busfish and Tumblers; she grows up.
At the time of publication, Czerneda said in an interview that she saw Hidden in Sight as the last entry in the trilogy that includes Beholder's Eye and Changing Vision but added that she would love to write about Esen again. Readers of this book will hope that she does so. Paul Goat Allen
