Bestill my heart! This was one hot book! I loved it from start to finish, it had everything you want in a highlander book. It was more than believable I felt I went to the highlands and witnessed this book firsthand. Great believable characters and funny banter between a hulking domineering Highlander and a spirited woman with a penchant for mischief. After escaping Viking slavers English Lady Alera finds herself on the coast of the Scottish Highlands that is when she meets Laird Duncan Randald. After rescuing her Duncan, like any good Highlander, decided to keep her for himself. But what he does not know is that she is also a Highlander by birth and she is the Gifted MacKay of her generation. This book is also the first in the Sisters by Choice series. This series is about 4 women not bound by blood declare themselves sisters, this is the first sister's journey on finding love, reuniting with family and discovering what it means to trust what your heart is telling you. If you haven't read Highland Treasure by Mary McCall you should read that first, it's about Alera's Aunt Hope and goes into more detail about the Gift these two women have and the ensuing mischief that it brings their destined mates. Can't wait to read Highland Promise which is the next book in the Sisters by Choice series.
