Overview

Bestselling author Hannah Howell's captivating trilogy featuring the irrepressible Murray daughters continues with Highland Knight, a tale of revenge and desire in 15th century Scotland, where a proud knight seeking retribution falls in love with his beautiful hostage.

When Cameron MacAlpin learns the identity of the golden beauty tossed before him as a debt payment, he can't believe his fortune! For cat-eyed Avery Murray is the perfect weapon to use against Payton Murray-Avery's brother-who dishonored Cameron's own sister. Yet his plan to deliver the same insult and avenge his clan is thwarted by spirited Avery herself, who tempts him to forget everything but the passion coursing through his blood. Still, a knight of the Highlands owes his allegiance to his clan before all else-even his heart.

Avery is outraged at her captor's accusations against her brother. Though he makes no secret he intends to use her to avenge his sister's lost honor, he adds to her fury by vowing to take her by seduction not force. Worse, she knows deep inside that this virile knight stirs her as no other man ever has. Courageously, passionately, she gives him freely what he vows to take-her body and her heart, knowing that she can lose all on the chance of everlasting love...

    more from this reviewer

amusing yet serious Highland historical romance

In 1458 France, Sir Bearnard captures Avery Murray and her thirteen year old cousin Gillyanne during a raid. Bearnard uses both women to pay off a dice debt he owes mercenary Sir Cameron MacAlpin. To Cameron nothing could be sweeter than Avery because she is the sister of Payton, the man who allegedly raped his sibling. Cameron heads back to the Highlands planning to use Avery as a pawn to obtain the truth.

However, Cameron¿s perfect plan turns out to have a flaw as he finds himself very attracted to his hostage. To her chagrin, Avery returns his feelings. As they fall in love, the specter of what really happened between Payton and his sister hangs over the area like a shroud. The clan honor for avenging the heinous crime of rape needs to be addressed without hurting Avery.

Hannah Howell¿s latest Highland romance is an amusing yet serious historical romance. The story line centers on different types of relationships, which include that of the lead couple and those within and between clans. Fifteenth century Scotland comes alive through the antics of feisty but pint-sized Avery and the reactions of the angry HIGHLAND KNIGHT Cameron to her actions.

    Loved it!

This is my favorite Hannah Howell book, at least so far. This book was a great addition to the Murray Family Series. I really enjoy a story where other family members (Gillyanne and Payton), with their own books, are brought into the story and not just as a sideline but as a major part of the story.

    TRAFFIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Out of the whole Highland series this was my favriote book. I have read this book several times and never get tired of it. Camron may have had Avery tossed at his feet but he will have a hard time to get her to do as he wants. As the story progresses they become more than lover, they become friends. This story is so well written and the characters are so likeable and real.

    Disappointing

I found this book to be unbelievable on many levels. I just couldn't grasp how a 13 year old had more common sense then most of the adult characters in the book. I didn't care much that the heroin was made out to be a woman who would not take likely things taken out of her control but yet control she easily excepted over a scenario that could have been easily handled more maturely. The hero I found to be nothing but a hypocrite, it is understandable to be leary once you have been burned but there comes a time when you say enough is enough and grow up. I couldn't get over the constant comparison of all women to Avery and then readily believe a serious crime made against his sister whom he doesn't even know. I found his charactor to be the most unbelievable and frustrating of all. He was an adult acting like a selfish child. I would have liked to see more action in regards to Sir Charles. I did however like the fights and conclusion to Katherine. Oh one last thing, the dialogue was a little tough to chew.

Best book I have read in two years

This book was great, I really enjoyed all of the characters, rarely do I care about anyone other than the main characters, but by the end of this story I was already ready to read Gillyannes own story. I thought the equal need to protect each characters siblings was a new angle and I loved it. I laughed a lot and was angry with the characters. It was terrific.
