Overview

Quinn

I'd say I'm down on my luck, but that's an understatement. I'm flat on my ass. Homeless, hungry and in hiding with my little sister at the age of twenty-one, I've never been so desperate. I've hit rock bottom when I get an offer I can't refuse. Sell my body to save my sister? There's nothing I won't do to keep her safe. I make the rules and I'm not afraid to defend myself if this rich guy crosses the line. But once I see beneath his cold, calculating façade, the lines aren't so clear anymore.

Andrew

She's an intoxicating mix of tough and vulnerable I've never known before. This homeless woman who fits right into my upper-class world is running from someone powerful, and I'll do whatever it takes to protect her. But Quinn isn't meant to be controlled, so I'm forced to choose between owning her and loving her. I've finally met my match, and I'll do whatever it takes to make her truly mine.

## ASTOUNDING. Wow, how I loved this book. I could not put it down. It's after 3am and I know I'll be so tired when my alarm blares at me in a few hours. TOTALLY WORTH IT. The sparks fly between hero and heroine. They are perfect together even if it took them a few weeks to figure that out. It was really fun reading about these two falling for each other. Quinn was strong, capable, beautiful, and kind. And Andrew was simply HOT. This is my first book by this author, but you can bet I'll be checking out anything else she may have written. And kudos for such a complete ending. It's such a treat for us readers after we've spent hours engaged in a book. Did I mention this hero is hot? I know I will be reading again and again. Apprx. 200 pages.

I had to skip pages to get through this book. When I got to the last page, I didn't feel like I missed a thing. It felt like a knockoff of another authors popular trilogy.

Not having read any other works by Brenda Rothert before, I was extremely impressed with His, it was a page-turner that had me reading nonstop. It's definitely not your typical Cinderella story, but it's unique enough to keep you wanting for more. It all begins with a simple proposition, sleep with a wealthy man for one night and receive $500 dollars in the process. If anyone were asked that, some might simply say no, but not Quinn. After been a runaway for a couple if years now, she has to take care of her younger sister, and $500 dollars would help her get her sister the medication that she needs. So when a stranger comes up to her and asks her exactly that, she immediately accepts not knowing what she was getting herself into. Now, it was only supposed to be one night, but meeting Andrew changed the game, and now she has to do her job without getting her feeling crushed in the process. Andrew is a wealthy man, who can get just about any women he wants, but that is exactly why he doesn't want the women he attracts. They are all after his money, and or attachments that he is not willing to give. So when he gets the idea to pay women to sleep with him for one night, he thinks that he just solved his problems, but meeting Quinn has left him in doubts that his money can't even solved. Now as he learns more about her, the attraction and chemistry between them grows even more as days go by. It is until they start to reveal their secrets that they both wondered if there could be a potential relationship for them in the future or not. I really enjoyed reading this book, it was filled with twists and turns that had me reading until the very end. The characters have their pasts that they're trying to move away from, but when they meet they find out that they could confide on each other and grow stronger. There is a part of the story that might just be a bit hard to believe, I mean who would actually do what Quinn did, but it really works out well in the end. I loved the ending very much, I would highly recommend reading this story, it will not disappoint. :) ***ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.***

Quinn has been living for four years in the streets of New York with her little sister, Bethy, after running away from home. With Bethy sick and not knowing how to find their next meal, Quinn accepts Dawson's proposition: spend the night with his employer and she'll receive $500 and Bethy gets to spend the night warm in a hotel. Andrew has it all: the money, the looks, the job, and the social standing. But because he has been burned in the past, he keeps people at arms lenght. Dawson, his personal assistant, finds him women when he needs them for a night. When Dawson takes Quinn to Andrew, everything changes for both of them. I loved His! The story is amazing and reminded me a little bit of Pretty Woman. It's a story full of drama, mystery, twists, secrets, and angst. And the sex scenes? HOT! I loved the banter between Quinn and Andrew and how their relationship developed. I couldn't help but love Quinn. She had it all and sacrificed everything to keep her sister safe. She is tough, independent, and stubborn. She is a fighter and knows what she wants. I loved how she always put Bethy's needs first and protected her. I loved Andrew! Andrew is smart, driven, stubborn, and strong. He knows what he wants and always gets it. He was tricked in the past, so he keeps women away, only having one night stands. Sometimes, he can be a little bit cold, but deep down he is very sweet and kind. Brenda Rothert hit the jackpot with His! The book is flawlessly written and you will connect with the story and the characters really fast. It will hook you from the first page and you'll not be able to stop reading!

5 Star Review Brilliant Read I'm not sure where to begin, this book blew me away. Quinn is living on the streets trying to protect her sister when a knight in shining armour gives her a chance to give her and her sister a new start in life. Put the past behind them and stop the running. Will she trust enough to tell him her secrets and will he trust enough to tell her his secrets. Secrets that made him the man he is,a man not looking for love. Secrets that had her running and not wanting love. I loved Quinn and Alex for many reasons but manly because of there compassion for others and the author did a brilliant job getting that across in the book. I love watching these characters grow, I loved watching them learning to trust, I loved the hot sex and this book had to read in one sitting there was no way I could put it down, I had to know did they get what they both deserved true love. This book has it all a mix of sweetness, suspense and angst. At times it was funny and at times it was heartbreaking. Well Done Brenda Rothert

His by Brenda Rothert is a stand-alone story about Quinn, a young homeless woman, and Andrew, the closed-off rich man who rescues her from the streets and from her past. Quinn has been homeless by choice for almost four years. In an effort to save her younger sister and herself from a terrible fate, they ran away. They have been surviving any way they can in New York City and when her sister, Bethy, starts to get sick, Quinn starts to get desperate. When offered a chance at earning some money she can't refuse, she takes the offer and it turns out to be the best decision she could have made for herself and her sister's safety. Andrew has some secrets of his own... When he has his assistant proposition Quinn for a night with him it isn't something he is proud of but after a pregnancy scare/scam a few months ago it is the only way he will handle the intimacy of sex anymore. He has to be in full control. When Quinn shows up she is so much more than he ever would have expected he puts a different offer on the table and change BOTH their lives, irrevocably. It is well-paced and unpredictable with well-developed characters and a heartwarming happy ending. Just everything about this story worked for me. I definitely will be reading more from this author in the future.

I really liked this book. Quinn was a strong girl. Broke, cold and hungry Quinn is willing to put her self respect on the line in order to provide for her sister. I liked how Quinn didn't just bow to Andrew's will. I love how she was so determined to keep her knife...lol. She fought him tooth and nail. It made it even more sweet when they got together. Andrew was a good guy. I wish his reasons for his arrangements were alluded to earlier in the book. The reader is told about a situation with a previous companion but I didn't put 1 and 1 together. I had a feeling about certain situations in the book but others were a complete surprise. I really liked the outcome of the book though. I would recommend it. 3.5 stars copy provided for review

Wow!! His was so different from the other books written by Brenda Rothert. I usually enjoy her writing, but I loved this story! It's romantic suspense, which happens to be my favorite genre. The story begins with Quinn and her little sister living on the streets of NY. Andrew's assistant sees Quinn and offers her money in exchange for sex with his boss. She's desperate, so she takes him up on his offer. When Andrew meets Quinn he decides he is interested in her and wants her for more than one night. There are lots of twists and turns in this book and by the time you get to the end you have all of your answers. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I highly recommend it to everyone. Quinn is a survivor. Since escaping from a horrific home life, she's had to learn to take care of herself and her younger sister on the streets of New York City. Andrew Wentworth knows all too well what fear and loss feel like, and has worked hard to create a life where he is completely in control. When Quinn's and Andrew's worlds intersect, the balance and boundaries that each has created will be tested. Any book by Brenda Rothert is going to be on my TBR. As a longtime fan, I know that Brenda's books will not disappoint, and, oh, my goodness, did she ever knock it out of the park with HIS. I can honestly say that this is one of my favorite of Brenda's books to date, and one of her most engaging stories ever. I was fully invested in Quinn's and Andrew's story from the first page, and absolutely could not put this book down. There are many secrets within the story, ones that each reader should uncover on their own, so I don't want to say too much for fear of giving anything away. Suffice to say that HIS is a must-read, one that I would recommend without hesitation. HIS is an engaging, action-packed, sexy 5-star read, and I hope to see more of these characters in the future.

A modern-day Pretty Woman that will leave you with all the feels. I adored this well-written, character-driven story that ended with a fantastic HEA. I devoured His in one sitting, staying up until 4am to finish it. This is my second Brenda Rothert book (the other one was amazing too) and it most definitely won't be my last. Boy, can this woman write a great yarn! Andrew and Quinn were great characters, both dealing with the aftermath of traumatic experiences. Andrew lost his father in 9/11 and he has been solely focused and driven ever since. After managing to extricate himself from a more-recent nasty situation, he is hell-bent on avoiding relationships and only engaging in sexual one-nighters that he's paid for. As you do. When fiesty Quinn enters his life he finds himself eating his words. Very quickly one night becomes a six-month contract and thus our story begins. Quinn is running from a hidden past and doing everything in her power to keep herself and her younger sister Bethy away from the person chasing them. They have been barely surviving on the streets these last four years and when she crosses paths with Andrew it couldn't come at a better time. She has literally reached rock-bottom. I really enjoyed Quinn's character, especially how she had matured as a result of her life experiences. She grew up protected and cared for and money was no object. Overnight, all that she had known was gone. Driven by a need to protect Bethy, she has forsaken all that she used to take for granted. When she is thrust into Andrew's world, she is uncomfortable with the excess and the obscene wealth and, as a reader, we really get to see how much she has grown and developed. She didn't want to sit around his house being pampered, so she went out and volunteered with the homeless. In the process, Andrew's perspective on things began to change and his admiration and respect for Quinn accelerated. I loved how patient Andrew was with Quinn, waiting until she was fully ready to consummate their relationship. The slow build of their romance was beautiful, not without its angsty moments, but it was credible and I believed in their chemistry. Andrew became so protective of Quinn and it was so sweet. Ah swoon, he was perfect. And that epilogue? Amazing - loved it so much! Most of the book focused on their relationship, with the other subplot only picking up in the last third of the book. I did think it was a little rushed and there was an opportunity to add more conflict and drama, but, to be fair, it didn't dent my enjoyment of the book, as it really was a fantastic read. I enjoy Brenda's writing style, the book flowed at a consistent pace, and it was well edited. I did find it a little bizarre that Dawson picked a homeless girl to bring to his boss. Surely, a man like Andrew would have gone to a discreet, high-class escort agency to get his hook-ups? I was also wary of Bean and it seemed out of character that Quinn would trust her sister with anyone, even if Bean had been their friend for two years.Anyway, I was able to overlook these issues and just enjoy it. In summary, this was a great read and one I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Actual Rating 4.5 Stars Thanks to the publisher and Inkslinger PR for providing a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Amazing characters - as themselves and together! I'm at a loss for words to explain why without giving away the story. Except - Read this book. Quinn and Andrew are what I want in characters for a non-stop read. Quinn is strong. She's motivated. She knows what she needs in the relationship with Andrew and stays strong throughout the story without wavering. Andrew's request for the neat and tidy relationship he's had in the past is turned on its head. And it's Andrew's quiet, steady perseverance that the terms of agreement can always be revamped. But there are secrets. I hate secrets. I always want to know. That's why it took me less than 24 hours to read. The first 60% of the story deals with Quinn and Andrew finding their footing. Then all the sudden, the storyline picks up pace where one secret after another is revealed. You are rooting for the HEA that all the characters in the story deserve. This is not my first Brenda Rothert book and won't be my last. However, I will state without a doubt it's my favorite. It's definitely a standalone where you feel completely satisfied at the end. 5 out of 5 stars.

If my calculations are correct, HIS is my 17th read by this author. WoW! My love for her storytelling began more than 3 years ago when I was lucky enough to win an advanced copy of Bound. After each read, I never think that the next release could possibly top the last. And I am wrong EVERY stinkin' time! Should I even bother to tell you that it doesn't get any better than HIS? I probably shouldn't, but that's how I'm feeling at this very moment! HIS has such a wide variety of emotion, suspense, mystery, anticipation, and hope. Quinn and Andrew are polar opposites in everyday life, but their attraction and unexpected chemistry make them the perfect fit. Great Storyline, Great Writing, Great Characters, and a Joyful HEA....It's all here guys!!

“He makes me come three times, and I try to commit every second to memory because soon, memories may be all I have of him.” How far will you go to protect your sister? Will you be able to steal? Lie? Sell your body? In Brenda Rothert’s latest new release, His, Brenda brings forth these question into light. When it comes to surviving and having food in the stomach, can a young woman sell her body for $500 for one night? But what happens when one night is not enough and he offers you safety, a home, money, and protection as long as you become his? I take his face in my hands and kiss him, trying to tell him without words how much he means to me.” Homeless. Cold. Hungry. And then toss in the fact, that Quinn and her sister are living on the streets and are on the run. They don’t want to be found. And in desperate need for money in order to survive, Quinn agrees to one night with a stranger. “Quinn broke down my walls, and I never want to put them back up” When Quinn appears, Andrew is immediately drawn to Quinn’s beauty, innocence, and personality. You could say a broken person could recognize another broken person. And for the first time, Andrew wants to be more than just a one night stand for Quinn as he gets to know her. He knows that she is hiding and running for something and so he makes her another offer. An offer to stay with him and be with him. When he Quinn accepts the money in order to help her sister, Quinn begins to see Andrew in a whole new light. This enigma of a man is more than his looks and wealth, and soon Quinn begins to slowly crack Andrew’s armor. As Quinn and Andrew begin to spend more time with each other, their past and secrets begins to be slowly unpeeled. Layers of truth and raw vulnerability begins to get exposed. And soon deep feelings for one another begins to surface. But what happens when this was suppose to be only temporary, can Quinn trust Andrew and give her heart to him? Will Quinn let Andrew protect her once he discovers why she is on the run? “I’ve gone from my lowest point to my highest in a matter of months. From feeling forlorn about the future to feeling hopeful about it. My Prince Charming isn’t always sweet, and he’s still learning how to love. But he’s mine, I’m his, and I wouldn’t change a thing.” Brenda Rothert tackles a modern version of Pretty Woman with a deeper poignant, raw, and gritty emotional storyline. Ms. Rothert allows her readers to feel for her characters as she stripped them bare allowing readers to see that two broken individuals can find the love that they have been searching for. With Rothert’s emotional and touching story line, she flawlessly brings these characters to life highlighting every mistake, imperfections, vulnerability, and most importantly how far will one go to sacrifice for love. So if you are looking for a story where two broken people in a city of millions get their fairy tale ending that they truly deserves, then be prepared to get swept away and become His.

Brenda Rothert's first romantic suspense book and she did not disappoint. I couldn't stop reading until I finished it because it was a definite page turner! I loved Andrew and Quinn's progression of their agreement into a relationship. Quinn's character was one of strength and determination which made her very admirable. Andrew was also strong with underlying controlling tendencies to keep his life in check. Witnessing the unraveling of his normal demeanor caused the reader to fall in love with him knowing he would do what it takes to see her needs were met....no matter the cost. Fans of Rothert will enjoy this read immensely! I received an ARC of "His" by Brenda Rothert in exchange for an honest review.

This book was incredible. I am a fan of this author I fell in love with her writing from the first book about some Hockey players. I have not read every single book because she likes to stretch her writing wings and that is not always my cup of tea. But this book was just incredible. It has romance, hot scenes, deep characters, drama and adventure. It made me laugh, sigh and come close to tears. It really was just a beautiful love story and I think one of the authors best stories she has ever written. The story starts out with our hero, Andrew losing his father in 2011 at 9/11. It is one scene so if this is something thats a trigger for you, its not a big part of the book. What is a big part is how it really shaped Andrew's life. Not in an obvious way but in his personality, how he lives and the work he does. He is very big on security and that is something that is very important when Quinn and him meet. They really get to know each other and Quinn does not trust easily. However, Andrew offers her a way out from the streets for her sister and her and so she grabs it. For most of the book it is Quinn and Andrew and watching them learn to love and trust each other. Once they trust each other, Quinn has some real issues and I LOVED every second of how Andrew has her back. I cheered, I laughed and I even cried at how wonderful Andrew was to Quinn. This was an absolutely amazing book and I really loved every second of it. I received a complimentary ARC copy of this book from the author for review

His was yet another in a long line of wonderfully written books by Brenda Rothert. I swear the woman just keeps getting better and better. This beautiful story of a sexy knight in shining armor rescuing the feisty damsel in distress had me hooked from the start! Andrew and Quinn's adventure starts almost by chance and what continues is quite the bumpy ride. Secrets are held tightly in Quinn's world and Andrew not only respects her privacy but will stop at nothing to make sure she is happy and safe. Theirs is a slow burn kind of romance with both trying their hardest to resist falling for the other. Andrew is the sort of hero you can't help but adore. He loves with all his heart and soul and his absolute dedication to the woman in Quinn, when she has guarded her own feelings for so long, made me swoon. And Quinn's resolution to make sure her sister has a better life gave me pause. The battles she wages not only with the world but within herself made her the true survivor that she is. I loved every word of this book. The author's characters continue to amaze me with their selflessness and deep commitment to each other. There are no whiny heroines, nor weak heroes. You walk away with a smile on your lips and true joy in your heart. Take a chance on His. You will be so very happy you did. 5 solid stars!

4.5 stars! This one sucked me in right from the start! I had a feeling this one would end up being a 4 or 5 star read just by the prologue alone and it didn’t disappoint. The whole story is really well developed and has an awesome, solid plot that had no problems holding my attention. A great mix of romance, drama and suspense as there are quite a few secrets and unexpected twists throughout! This is definitely not a surface read. I loved both Quinn and Andrew! They are both incredibly strong, independent, selfless people who are very protective of those they care about. They’re both survivors in their own way and together, they make a perfect match! **provided in exchange for an honest review**

With things at home taking a scary turn Quinn no longer feels safe there, so she packs a few belongings for herself and her little sister Bethy and they flee the first chance they get. Leaving a somewhat privileged life behind, and becoming a homeless person living on the streets of New York is a path Quinn never saw herself going down, but it is her reality and she has found a way to except it, she just hopes it doesn't last forever. When she is approached by a man in suit and he presents her with an opportunity at a better life, it's a chance she can't really pass up, it could be life-changing for her and her sister, so she reluctantly agrees to the terms of the deal. She knows this deal could be the thing that finally gets them off the streets and on their way to a happier life, but letting someone into her life even for a short time is nerve racking. But she soon learns there are far more benefits to this deal than she ever anticipated, for the first time in a long time she feels safe, and is able to breath a little sigh of relief... that is until the past she's been running from finally catches up to her! The minute Andrew meets the beautiful, and highly mysterious Quinn he is intrigued, and instantly knows there is far more to her than what meets the eye, the problem is she isn't very forthcoming with information, and he knows it has something to do with the past she's running from. So he decides to make it his mission to make her feel safe, in hopes that she will finally let her guard down and let him in, and let someone else finally take care of her for a change. He has never met a woman like her, and the more time he spends with her the deeper he falls, and the less he wants their "deal" to come to an end. He's never been in this situation before, it terrifies him more than he's willing to admit, and for the first time in his life he's wanting to tell someone to stay... question is will she? The minute I started reading this story it grabbed a hold of me and would not let go, I was instantly addicted and left with the insatiable urge to know more... even if it meant staying up all night to find the answers I so desperately needed. It has been a while since I have read a story that completely captured my attention, and consumed me the way this story did, I was barely a chapter into this one and I immediately felt myself being pulled into Quinn and Andrew's world and left completely mesmerized by every word. This is my first encounter with Ms. Rothert's work and all I can say is WOW!!, her beautifully crafted story completely took me by surprise, and had me immediately regretting not reading something from her until now. Definitely one the most impressive first reads I have had in a while, highly recommend you give it try, it is sure to pull you in and keep you captivated long after the last page is turned! ARC given in exchange for a honest and unbiased review.

"His," by Brenda Rothert is one of those books you can't put down until you've read the last sentence...but then you want more. The characters are well developed, the plot keeps you intrigued, and the story is well written. If I have any complaint, it would be that the story (200 pages) was a little on the rushed side...especially the last 25 pages. Ms. Rothert does an excellent job of covering all the bases but alot happens in too short a time as compared to the rest of the book. I found myself looking at the page count as I read and wondering how everything was going to be resolved with so little time left. Would I buy the book again? Most definitely! Would I call it a keeper? Yes! Even with my critique, "His" is a welcome addition to my e-book library.
