THEY WEREN'T LOOKING FOR EACH OTHER…

When a string of deadly warnings convinces Dallas mayor Jessica Kincaid that she needs a bodyguard, she hires Brant Harding. The former secret service agent takes the job for one very personal reason—and it has nothing to do with this tempting woman.

BUT THE CHEMISTRY WAS TOO POWERFUL TO RESIST

As their personal agendas intersect, Jessica and Brant find themselves at odds, yet drawn to each other with a passion neither can deny. But the threat to Jessica's life has intensified—and it's coming from within the power structure of the city itself. Even Brant's best efforts may not be enough to save her, or to buy them both a second chance.

    As told by a Master.

As the young widow who assumes mayorship after her husband's death, Jessica Kinkaid might expect to be in for some trouble. However, she did not expect threats on her life. Her world is rocked when it becomes clear that someone wants her dead, and that it is probably someone in law enforcement. Since the police would be an unreliable source of help, Jessica reluctantly hires former agent Brant Harding. From the first, it would seem that these two individuals are oil and water, an irresistible force meeting an inmoveable object. Yet, despite both strong wills, there is an undeniable attraction that sends sparks flying between them, until passion can no longer be resisted. The threat to Jessica is, however, the main concern they must face, and also, Brant's own family presents problems that must be dealt with, as well as both of their scarred and damaged pasts. Watching these factors combine will make your blood alternatively heat and chill. ***** Brant is the hero that can only be described as all man, and at first, he does not quite know what to do with a woman like Jessica who is equally strong and brave. No less fascinating is the polictical suspense plot that surrounds them and is told as only a master can. *****

action-packed fun to read romantic suspense

Mayor Jessica Kincaid of Dallas still misses her late spouse though he died four years ago. She especially feels her loss since she began receiving obscene calls and email, and nasty packages. She has not told the police because she wonders if the two cops she suspended or the chief she fired are behind the incidents. Her best friend Veronica Nash has her husband Thurman, owner of a security firm, arrange protection. Thurman visits his old Secret Service buddy, Brant Harding, hiding as a recluse in Arkansas. Brant says no though he wants to go to Dallas to become part of the life of his teenage son Elliot. Thurman blackmails Brant into taking the job by reminding him he owes him. Reluctantly, Brant travels to Dallas and interrogates Jessica on the police suspensions, the hostility of council members, and a controversial land deal. As Brant struggles with making head way with an angry Elliot, he works hard to keep Jessica safe from an unknown assailant. While living and working in proximity, they fall in love, but the mayor of a large city and a wilderness hermit apparently has no chance for a permanent relationship. HIS TOUCH is an action-packed fun to read romantic suspense starring two intriguing characters. However, both of the two lead characters carry heavy burdens that would wear out Job and some readers who will find too many distracting subplots. Still, Mary Lynn Baxter¿s fans will take immense pleasure in this loaded thriller. Harriet Klausner
