Lipp delivers an excellent resource for mothers (and fathers) who wonder how to handle various situations that typical parenting books don't often cover—such as when your child is overwhelmed, is sick, lacks character, struggles, or is being left out. As the author of Praying God's Word for Your Husband and Praying God's Word for Your Life, this popular Christian speaker now addresses difficulties that arise in parenting toddlers, teens, and even adult offspring. Her humorous approach to minor and major crises makes this an enjoyable, practical read. She encourages moms to accept that children will have difficulties, find other moms to support you unconditionally, and recognize that you are not alone in facing these troubles. Following these introductory chapters, the author focuses on nine common issues from a mom's perspective. For each, she shares basic Bible principles to follow, a story or two "from the trenches," some practical tips, and appropriate scriptural prayers for the mom to pray for herself and her child. VERDICT Mothers and fathers looking for Christian parenting books that go beyond the basics of teaching obedience will appreciate this practical, humorous collection of tips and prayers. Suitable for all public libraries.—Ray Arnett, Fremont Area Dist. Lib., MI

i need some help here! By: Kathi Lipp It's easy to feel overwhelmed as a parent--and worried and anxious. There are so many areas of a child's life that can go wrong along the way. What's a mom to do? With wit and wisdom, Kathi Lipp meets moms where they are and offers the most powerful hope they have--prayer--for both their kids and themselves. I loved this book. I have raised my kids but there are grandchildren. I loved all the scripture that was put in it. Prayer time at the end of each chapter. There are powerful tools in the book to use not only for your children but for yourself as well. No two children are alike. We can gain the proper control with a God lead home. Great book. This would be a great study for young mom's having a tuff time. There is help and hope.

Kathi Lipp in her new book, “I Need Some Help Here!” published by Revell gives us Hope for When Your Kids Don’t Go According to Plan. From the Back Cover: For every overwhelmed mom–there is help and hope. It’s easy to feel worried and anxious as a parent. There are so many areas of your child’s life that can go wrong along the way. What’s a mom to do? With wit and wisdom, Kathi Lipp meets you in your moments of panic or despair and offers the most powerful tools you have–prayer and practical steps–for both your kid and yourself. She covers the stages of your child’s life from toddler to teenager and tackles the most common issues that cause you stress and anxiety, sharing · practical wisdom when your child makes poor choices · how to pray when your child is running away from God · comforting words for when your child feels left out · “been there, done that” advice for when your child is different than other kids Whether you are at the end of your rope or simply need a little extra support as you walk the parenting road, you’ll cherish Kathi’s heart and her humor. Being a mom is difficult.  If you have more than one each child is different and has to be dealt with according to the needs of that child.  Outside of The Bible there is no manual for parenting.  So where do you go when you need help?  Kathi Lipp has the answer.  Ms. Lipp is a mom and she has friends that are moms and they have all gone through bringing up their children.  Do they have all the answers?  No.  However that was never their intention.  Ms. Lipp provides twelve chapters with advice on what to do when your child is in a certain situation.  If you are in the early stages of your child’s life this book will help.  If you are in the later stages then this book will help a lot.  I think it will be a book you will refer to often.  I also think it would make a great gift for all moms everywhere.  I recommend this book highly. Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Revell.   I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”

Parenting is tough. It's not like a recipe where you just add the right amount of ingredients and your food turns out great each time. In parenting you can do all the right things and your kids can turn out totally opposite of what you were hoping. This book by the hilarious Kathi Lipp is an encouragement to all those parents who are struggling with how things are going with their kids. She offers grace to moms who are discouraged and feeling guilty. She enables us to look at the bright side and see the spiritual gifts that result when your kids don't go according to your plan. She steeps each chapter in scripture and offers sample prayers for your child and for yourself. I've heard a lot of people say, "I was such a good parent before I had children." Kathi offers a similar saying for judgemental people and how to determine other 'safe' people you can be real with...or rather who not to seek sympathy from. She says, "There are some people who feel that if only you had done everything right, your child wouldn't have problems. These people usually fall into three categories: those who have never had kids and think they could do better, parents who have one child under the age of three and think that the same principles of discipline apply to teens, and parents of children over age thirty who have blocked out all the bad years." She offers a quote from Rob Teigen as instruction for us, "I think as parents we take way too much credit when things go right with our kids and take way too much blame when things go wrong." She helps parents see that we are not the only ones who are dealing with issues and gives encouragement and practical steps for a variety of different situations. The last chapters are broken into headings-'when my child is....different, overwhelmed, making poor choices, struggling' etc. From the cover (loved it!) it seemed like a book for parents of young children but as I started reading it I worried that it would only deal with teens and young adults. But I found plenty to apply to parenting young children as well and it also gives me plenty to chew on and a good foundation as we head into the teenage years in a few years (eek!)

Kathi Lipp shares of a friend who once told her, "...I think as parents we take too much credit when things go right with our kids and too much blame when they go wrong." I couldn't agree more. When my kids do wrong, I wonder where I went wrong. When they do good, I am so proud thinking I finally did something right. I Need Some Help Here is a resource every mother should read. Two pages in to the introduction and I was already in heavy tears. With encouragement when your child is different, overwhelmed, troubled, makes poor choices and so much more, Kathi shares real life day to day stories from the 'trenches' of motherhood. With humor and heart she encourages and inspires. My favorite part of the book? The Scriptures and prayers Kathi offers. She has prayers you can say for your child and prayers to say for you. I Need Some Help Here is full of incredible encouragement for parenting kids, teens and adult children when your child makes poor choices. Kathi includes Scriptures to pray over your children in this area and so much more.

I really and truly loved this book. There are some things you may have heard before and you may think you know it in your head, but this book helps refresh truth in your heart. I so appreciated that the author was real and that she wrote as someone who has been there, someone who isn't just sharing advice, very sound advice, but is sharing her mother's heart as well. I also felt that this was a book that could speak to a mother of children of any age. It gave me, as a young mother, a new perspective for how I view my children now and helped me store up wisdom for moving into the many years ahead of me.

I Need Some Help Here by Kathi Lipp is a great book for any parent who needs some hope in their parenting journey.  In the book, Kathi explores several areas in which parents struggle. Some of them include: -When My Child is Different -When My Child is Overwhelmed -When My Child is Sick or Injured -When My Child Makes Poor Choices -When My Child is Left Out -and MORE!  One thing I loved about the book is Kathi's genuine tone. Not once did I feel like she was talking down to me. Rather, Kathi comes across as someone who really "gets it." She's been there. She knows what it's like to be a mother at her wits end, searching for something-anything-to help her.  My favorite quote from the book (and I think a good summary of the book too) is this: "I may not be in control, but God is." This book is a great reminder that God's got this. We might feel overwhelmed, but He doesn't.  *I received this book for free for review, but all opinions are my own.

Let's face it, sometimes we need help.  Sometimes our kids are not following the path we would choose.  Sometimes they make bad choices.  Who do you talk to then?  Because really, there are things sometimes we don't want to share. Reading Kathi Lipp is like sharing with a good friend.  All that's missing is the cup of coffee!

This book is so refreshing! It touches on topics that we all need help with, but we are sometimes too embarrassed to speak up about. Each chapter has practical steps to try, verses, prayers for both parent and child, and stories from moms who have been there and survived! If you are struggling to raise a child well - and let's be honest, that includes ALL of us - then this book is a must read for you!!!!!!!

All I could think while reading this book is I wanted to hunt down Kathi Lipp and give her a big fat hug...then a high five. This book is so encouraging, inspiring, helpful, practical and most importantly, HONEST. I loved it so much, I wish I could afford to get it for every mom I know. What I love so much is the refreshing honesty that Kathi uses. She also gives real and helpful tips for dealing with kids (and ourselves) in various situations. And, my personal favorite, at the end of every chapter, she included prayers to pray over your children and yourself. If you are going (or have gone) through hard things with your kids, this is most definitely the book for you. And, as moms, we all have gone through hard things with our kids.

Having teenagers I did not initially think this book would apply to me, I was wrong.  I really enjoyed it! There is nothing worse than the times we feel like somehow our failures are going to ruin our kids,  to lose hope, nothing worse.   I was encouraged and energized by this book.

I love Kathi's writing. She has been there done that and offers a lifeline to those of us in the trenches. This book is so real and will have you alternating between nodding your head in agreement or crying while saying "I thought I was the only one!". Whether youre the parent of a newborn or your kids are grown, or anywhere in between, you will find valuable, thought provoking help in this book. There truly is Hope! If this is your first Kathi Lipp purchase I urge to check out the rest of them as well. You can thank me later. Please keep the books coming Kathi! You are making a difference!

This book was a wonderful, encouraging read. As a mother of six children, ranging from seventeen to one, it hit me in many spots in which I was at. Informative on things such as when your child is different, overwhelmed, running from God and many, many more, it’s perfect for whatever season you and your children may be in.   I give this book a five star review!   I was given this book by the Book Club Network for my honest review, which I have given.

I Need Some Help Here by Kathi Lipp is a very informative book. It is one that will stay on my night-stand with other reference books I keep handy. It is down to earth and written with heart. It is prayer based which is important. I have already recommended this book to many of my friends with children approaching their tween years. This book is definitely encouraging when faced with problematic and difficult decisions. I received this book  from the Book Club Network in exchange for my honest opinion.

I read this book and before I was even to the third chapter was recommending it to friends.  Kathi Lipp has written a book that is helpful and encouraging to parents who are struggling with kids that have seemingly gone wrong.  Parenting is hard.   It is easy to feel responsible when our kids make decisions that harm them and those they love.  In this book, Kathi comes along beside us to remind us that we are not alone.   There are others going through similar circumstances and more importantly,  God is always with us and He loves our kids more than we do.   One of the statements that made a lasting impression on me was from a mom who felt ostracized from the Christian community when her life went drastically off course and her son started using drugs.  We often say, "But for the grace of God, there go I."  And while this is certainly often the case, sometimes it is because of the grace of God that we can face difficult situations.  This book handles subjects such as drugs,  bad decisions, mental health issues, bullying, and much more.  Each chapter deals with a different topic and includes a story "from the trenches" from a mom who's been there.  Ther are many scripture references and prayers to encourage and strengthen us. I believe I will often revisit this book in my parenting journey.  That is,  if I get it back from friends I loan it to! I received a copy of this book from The Book Club Network and the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion, which I have given.

What a fantastic book! Really should be given to moms when their oldest turns 12! I loved how Kathi not only shared honestly her own stories but also gave stories “from the trenches” of other moms – and how when our babies are born we don’t think “I hope this baby grows up to be a heroin addict or has a teenage pregnancy.” Furthermore, doing all the “right” things does not guarantee our child will make right choices. It seemed to me that Kathi Lipp covered so many difficult situations moms encounter. What hope and encouragement this book gives moms whose teens might be making bad choices – so bad you think you can’t talk to your church friends about your child or cry if you do! Really excellent book! I received this book from TBCN in return for my honest opinion.

Great Parenting Resource Having children that span the ages of elementary through young adulthood, I certainly needed to read this book. As a matter of fact, I think God was throwing this book at me saying - You. Need. To. Read. This! Every time I turned around that book was being offered for review or a contest giveaway, or someone was talking about it. So, I finally said, OK! Lord! I get it! :-) And I am glad I read it. Kathi's advice is so heartfelt and just what I needed to hear. As parents when things go wrong we can often cast too much blame on ourselves, other times when things go right we may take too much of the credit. In reality, God is the one in full control of all the situations and circumstances we go through and we need to really depend on him.  Kathi points out that many times we feel alone, but there are others who have gone through the same things. Maybe we do not know what to do when our child is different - we need God's help and wisdom. Other topics Kathi addresses are -  • When I feel overwhelmed  • When my child is struggling  • When my child lacks character.  Kathi's sense of humor make this book enjoyable to read. She also includes stories from other parents who have been through situations you might be facing and examples from their lives. At the end of each chapter there are prayers both for you and your child.  I would recommend this as a wonderful resources for all parents. I received this book from TBCN and Revell in exchange for my honest opinion. I was not required to give a positive review

I had the privilege of reading I Need Some Help Here! by Kathi Lipp. What a great book and what great timing. We have children that are entering Kindergarten, middle school, and high school so even though I’ve “done middle school and kindergarten before” with each child it’s a new experience. This book was so encouraging to me. It reminded me that there is no such thing as a perfect parent (except for God’s example as a Father to us) and He doesn’t expect perfection from me…so I can let myself off the hook as well. I love how the author kept turning us back to the best example of a Father we have - God. She reminded me that the most effective parenting tool I have is prayer first and foremost, then support from other moms in the trenches - either in the same phase of childhood as my children or mentors who have been there/done that and can offer me wisdom. She also reminded me that childhood and parenting are meant to be embraced and laughter is my best friend. Probably the statement that impacted me the most was this one: She stated how she has a core group of friends that she knows she can be completely honest with about the struggles she faces as a parent and can talk freely about the trials and challenges her children are facing - without fear of judgment. As much as she knows her friends have her back regarding the things her children have done, she knows they love her children as much as she does and they are able to separate the child from the difficult behavior. When interacting with her friends’ children or they with hers, she knows that each mother sees the children for the wonderful people they are - not as a label or as the difficult behavior they are struggling with. That’s every mother’s dream - to be able to share openly with other mothers who “get it” without worry that their children will forever be labeled with a difficult phase they needed to go through. Without having to hide behind the wall of perfection...mother or child. This was a great book - one I will be recommending to others, rereading throughout the years for encouragement (as I will have two more teenagers yet to come) and to remind me to find the joy in these years because they do go by way too fast. I have been reading it as a Bible study in the mornings supplementing my devotions but it would work as a book to read straight through, a book to read with my best friend, a couple to read through and talk together about the different techniques suggested in the book or as a Bible study at a church or Book Club. So many ways this book would be effectively used to help encourage, challenge, and most importantly, always point back to the One who loves our children more than we do. I received this book for free in exchange for my honest review.

“I need some help here” was a very good and informative book. Kathi Lipp gives some very good encouraging words to help us in raising our children. Whether you are just a first time parent or have older children, this book would be very helpful for you. Some of things she writes in her book are things I have already heard before, but I needed to be reminded of them. This book has humor and serious notes in it. At the end of each chapter are prayers for you to pray for yourself and your child. Kathi Lipp is a very good author and I will read other books by her. I would recommend this book to everyone. I received this book from bookfun for my honest opinion.

I NEED SOME HELP HERE! is a parenting book that I want to encourage moms not to read the whole book at once.  Like others have expressed before, read the first three chapters and then look to see which chapter applies to you. I read the whole book through and found it uninteresting in the areas that didn’t apply to me and my situations.  The book is well written and vital and will help many moms with many different scenerios, from bad choices (where I am) to being left out. Struggling. Different. Running away. Sick. Lacking character. Pick your topic.  This is a book for parents to keep on their shelves for when the scenerios change. The watching your child being left out at eight years old might turn into your child making poor choices with his friends at eighteen.  This is also a book for pastors and counselors to loan out to encourage moms. Just because your son stole a candy bar doesn’t make it your fault. It was his decision, his choice, you are not to blame.  If you are a mom with a struggling child, pick this book up and read the table of contents to see if the issue you need help with is covered. There are some helpful prayers and verses in the back to pray for your child, to pray for yourself, and some final thoughts and notes.  3.5 stars.

I Need Some Help Here! if the title doesn’t clue you in, let this review help. Kathi Lipp writes a great book about parenting beyond the typical, textbook situations. She writes about situations that occur in everyday real life. I think one of the best parts of this book is that she identifies the relationship between parent and child and doesn’t act as if the two are totally inseparable. She recognizes that children do have minds of their own and that as they grow, they make their own decisions sometimes despite all of the things they’ve been taught. She speaks to parents about their responsibilities as well as to the parent who is taking too much responsibility for their child’s decisions. With interesting and transparent stories from real life mothers, I Need Some Help Here! illustrates life happening. Sometimes the best help is just knowing you’re not alone. In this book Ms. Lipp talks about everything from temper tantrums to drug addiction. Each section ends with prayers specific to that topic. Ms. Lipp is an interesting and informative speaker and author. I Need Some Help Here! is a great book for parents of all ages. I received this book from the Book Club Network in exchange for my honest opinion.

Absolutely fabulous! Kathi Lipp offers the best advice for coping with the tough "what do I do now" questions that smack you in the face as a mom. It's not if, it's when it will happen that your child doesn't go according to plan. Each chapter covers a challenge, presents real life illustrations, and offers practical help. Then Kathi takes the reader to scripture and prayer for the child and the mom. I wish I had had this book when I was mothering. In fact, this book still helped me rethink and heal from events that occurred in the past and will assist in how I parent my adult children. I felt the warm hugs Kathi sends through her words to the hurting, confused, and challenged mom. She comes right alongside the reader and one feels as though she is a good friend who understands and who accepts your craziness with no judgement. She encourages reaching out to find friends who can support, uplift, and pray for you as childhood brings unexpected events into your cozy life. Well, you will need to read this great book to discover yourself the other suggestions she makes! I highly recommend, I Need Some Help Here! I received a complimentary copy of I Need Some Help Here in exchange for an honest review, which I have given.
