Up until this point in the Talent Chronicles, we know almost nothing about State Schools except that you DO NOT want to end up in one. This story gives an insider's perspective on State School #15, and helps remedy that.
As always, Ms. Bischoff's imagination and storycrafting is amazing. I especially loved the family element and how the kids resisted NIAC oppression.
Of course, there was some humor, some romance, some sarcasm, and some general butt-kicking, which made the story that much more enjoyable.
Side note: cameo!
Yes, Impulse Control is short. It's not supposed to be long, or even medium-length; it wouldn't be a SHORT STORY if it was. And besides, it's free! This story is supposed to add a little bit of insight to the Talent world, and maybe! give some background to characters/situations that will appear in the regular series in the future.
Definitely worth reading, possibly more than once.
Can't wait for Heroes Under Siege!!

Um, can I say MOAR ETHAN PLEASE? Fun, quick jaunt into the dark world of the State Schools. A nice tide me over until Heroes Til Curfew. And seriously...Susan...more Ethan...
Impulse Control is a short story set in Bischoff's Talent Chronicles world, where kids with supernatural abilities must keep them secret or be carted off to state schools, which are really more like a cross between government prisons and training grounds. This story is set in one such school and introduces us to a wide and interesting cast as they band together to stop a heinous experiment in the facility. Can absolutely be read before or outside of Bischoff's debut Hush Money (which is equally awesome).

This story was good, but had bad language which in my opinion is not presentable in a great book. This could have been amazing but the writer used bad language and did not take the store to the point where it could have been taken.

At this stage it's difficult to come up with original twists on the paranormal, vampires are thick on the ground and weres and shifters too. This novella introduces a dystopian, contemporary vision for YA that lovers of Uglies, etc. by Scott Westerfeld will enjoy.

It was pretty good, but kind of short. I wouldn't consider it a kids book. It' s much more suitable for teens.

I didn't have any problem reading this book. The plotline was great and I could really get into the story. Yes, it did end very quickly and I feel like the author could have added at least another100 pages, BUT for a short story it was excellent.

Thia book was good. This book comes BEFORE Hush money. Also, Ellas talent is to heal/recreate things. And finally, this is a pretty good opener too hush money. Good quick read, can'tnwait for more.

I thought this book was good, but it was way shorter then you thought it would. Of the115 pages it has only 86 of them were the story. Also the author didn't develope the characters enough. Half way through the book I was wondering what talent Ella had again, and who had the talent who let them recreate/ heal things. Another thing I didn't like was it was hard to figure out the setting, how old they were, and I really didn't have a clue what was happening for a while. Also the author added a lot of unnessesary swearing, that I really didn't thing the story really needed. All in all this is a nice quick read that will make you think about what it would be like to have weird talents/powers.

My Review - This book was short, sweet and pretty good. I liked reading this because I couldn't put it down and that's what I'd been lacking in the last book I read. I've already started the second book in the series and I'm looking forward to getting into it.

Its too short! I feel like it ended way to quickly. I would like it better if the author would finish the story in one long book. Good story, but ends quickly.
