The thrill-seeking meteorologist and star of Storm Chasers has followed and faced down more violent tornadoes than anyone. Into the Storm brings readers into the mind of this man and his mission-collecting data that could save lives-in the terrifying, awe-inspiring world of big weather.

Into the Storm is also a fascinating look at the science of weather-what causes extreme conditions, its connection to climate change, and how a tornado gets its stovepipe structure.

Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble

While you were sipping your morning coffee, chances are that Reed Timmer was reading the winds and the atmospheric condition to discover the next great weather catastrophe. The star of the Discovery Channel's hit Storm Chasers has made a career of being on top—and in violent hurricanes, blizzards, and tornados. In fact, this fearless storm chaser has been on the spot for over three hundred such events in the past decade alone. Into the Storm fulfills its double-barreled goal: It chronicles the story of his most exciting adventure and it explains the science and developing trends behind extreme weather.

From the Publisher
"Joshua Swanson narrates in the same energetic way that Timmer goes after storms—aggressively.…But it's Swanson's frenetic tone that puts the listener near the eyes of the storms." —-AudioFile

    I Also Recommend:

    Highly Recommended !

I Love this book! It is filled with the same action and intensity that is felt while watching Timmer's television series "Storm Chasers". At times I feel as if I am right there, riding along on the chase, without really realizing that I was being educated on weather too. I recommend this book for everyone, young and old, and hope you enjoy it as much as i have!

    Great book!

I LOVED this book! It is a great combination of science, action, and adventure. The book is Reed Timmer's autobiography. In it, he writes about his life and struggles starting with his experiance at Oklahoma University, his storm chasing experiances, as well as easy to follow explainations on these phenomena. Poor Reed gets bashed a lot, and has always been, as mentioned in this book, hopefully this book will show bashers who Reed really is. The adventures in this book include many tornadoes and thunderstorms, as well as hurricanes Floyd and Katrina. I recomend this strongly. BTW, could someone get that annoying Warriors RPer to stop!
