Over 1 billion apps have been downloaded in the 9 months the App Store has been open, ranging from the simplest games to the most complex business apps. Everyone has an idea for the next best-selling iPhone app—presumably that’s why you’re reading this now. And with the release of the iPad, this demand will just continue to grow.

Meet the Author

Rory Lewis is assistant professor of computer science at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. He is often mistaken fora hippie, wearing Dead-head shirts and walking aimlessly around the campus. He is often described as the guy in the office where students are always lined up outside. He is often heralded as the dude that will explain your math and computer code, even when he first checks and sees you’ve done 800 tweets and 2,700 Facebook comments while you should have been in class! He is described by his adult daughters as a dad that was once a successful microprocessor litigation lawyer in Palo Alto, but couldn’t resist his dorkiness and went back to school to become a doctor of geekdom!

Very Good book beginning iPad and iPhone App programming with videos.

My son he's taken Dr. Lewis' class at the University of Colorado. I have used this book to teach myself this iPad and iPhone just like I teach myself English when I come from Russia. I only learn more from Dr. Lewis book and now I have three apps on iTunes Apple store. When it too hard I look at his video where I see him do it and I say OK now I see. But I never program before and now I am expert. Very good book to teach beginner like me to be professional iPad programmer.

    Reading it the second time.

As a History Major many years ago and now the owner of 4 restaurants I have never programmed a single thing in my life. I have had many ideas for apps. I bought all the dummy books, all the beginner books and got NOWHERE! Dr. Lewis' book was my last hope. From the first page I could tell he was talking to ME. I could tell he totally connected to how stupid I was and told me it was OK. Long story short. I have written my first app for my staff to schedule their next week's shift. It going to the Apple store and everybody thinks I am a programming guru! Thank you Dr. Lewis.
