    Smart & No-nonsense

This book illustrates a very healthy way to eat. Fruits & veggies are NOT the carbs to count. Healthy carbs (whole grains, etc) ARE the carbs to count, but 75 of these per day is very reasonable and easy to achieve. The book encourages us to eat healthy 90% of the time, and stray 10% of the time (in small amounts) if desired -- because we're human. It's basically the same principals as South Beach, but without the two weeks of restriction at the beginning. Easy changes to make, and a very smart, no-nonsense approach to living a healthy life.

    Safe and smart low-carb dieting

If you are looking for info on imbalanced and unsustainable very-low-carb dieting, this isn't for you. This is an intelligent, well-founded approach to reducing your intake of refined, processed, and high-sugar carbs, and switching to a whole foods lifestyle. It is compatible to Phase 2 and 3 of South Beach, but provides more guidelines and structure for those who value that. The plan focuses on lean proteins, very low fat dairy, veggies, and fruit, with about 75 grams of healthy carbs to assure your brain gets enough fuel for healthy functioning (your brain NEEDS about 130 carbs a day, no matter what Atkins tells you). There are plenty of hints, tips, and recipes for reference. I first read this through my local library and was impressed enough to buy it.

    A low-fat diet book in disguise !

The title of this book is misleading. After reading it , I realized what it actually means. A dummy wouldn`t know that the diet descibed in this book is a low-fat, low-cal diet. If you really want to know about the low carb diet, get 'Dr. Adkins`New Diet Revolution' or even 'The South Beach Diet'.
