Overview

Lucinda has dwelt in eternal darkness. As a demon princess, she exists in an endless, joyless realm. But she is about to discover a need she never knew existed-not for power, not for blood-but for a more dangerous passion with a lone warrior.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly

Full of paranormal passion, Sunny's fast-paced first in a new erotic fantasy series, the Demon Princess Chronicles, introduces Lucinda, a 600-year-old demon princess who's getting bored with her long unlife. At least she has an official duty to pass the time: seeking out wayward demons and returning them to Hell. Lucinda finds herself attracted to Stefan, a renegade warrior of the alien Monère, but before they can get too cozy, duty calls and she must track down another rogue, Nico. She brings Nico to his cruel queen, but then claims him for her own along with Talon, a maltreated Floradëur, "a flower of darkness," whose blood gives demons more power. The whole crew goes to Hell to recharge Lucinda's supernatural batteries and return Talon to his own kind, with Derek, a dangerous demon who wants Talon back, in pursuit. Sunny (Mona Lisa Awakening) has created a Hell reminiscent of Anne Bishop's Black Jewels trilogy and the fiction of Laurell K. Hamilton. (Aug.)

Proof that LKH Has Ruined The Genre

The author CLAIMS to be a former physician who gave up her practice to write. Did someone actually give up the joy of SAVING LIVES, the satisfaction of helping others, to write something this bad?

This is the worst kind of Mary-Sue Sex Heals Everything clap trap. The main female character is a demon named Lucinda who hunts rogue demons instead of vampires. I think she had sex with every male character in the book in only 277 pages--and every time under some horrible danger that only Lust and Sex could save them from. And at the end, Lucinda pulls a complete Mary Sue and manages to turn into a dragon, which she hadn't figured out in over 600 years existence, just in time to save her many Boy-Toys from certain death, all of whom worship the poop on her shoes and only want to Serve her for all eternity.

If you like Anita Blake, you'll like this book. If you realize that LKH has ruined the entire Genre, that this character is just a theft of Anita Blake with a changed appearance, name and origin, and you're sick of Mary-Sue'isms, sick of men with no spine, sick of vampires with no bite that glitter like they're a 10 year old's Sparkly Barbie and Ken, and you're tired of bad writing....You have taste and wouldn't read this if someone paid you.

I had read the Mona Lisa series and love them. Was so sad when I realized that I had read the last and needed to wait for the next book to be released. Then I heard that she had written about Halceon's sister - Lucinda - wasn't sure if I'd enjoy it as much - but I did. Sunny is a terrific writer, very engaging, immaginitive and sexy without being cheesy - I have even read all of her mini stories and her Lucinda series is just as creative and of course true to Sunny writing style - very sexy :)

    Dark and lovely

If you enjoyed the Mona Lisa series by the same author then buy this book. If you didn't enjoy the Mona Lisa series then bypass... Easy read with charactors that you find yourself cheering for and reaching for book two. Warning:This book is not for anyone easily offended (graphic violence and sex).

A story you can't get enough of!

I think the best part about this book is the depth of the worlds the characters inhabit. At first you don't completely understand the rules of their world so the book is full of interesting twists that you either didn't see coming or didn't know how they could possible play out. A warning: there are graphic sex scenes, which I was not expecting but they help develop the story so I was fine with them. I recommend this book for people who enjoy vampire books but are tired of the same old story lines....this book is very entertaining!

    Fabulous

First off I must say I LOVE SUNNY! I have read her Mona Lisa series many times and they are some of my most treasured books. This book did not disappoint and I'll be re-reading it again many times in the future! If you like this book I highly recommend the second and the Mona Lisa series.

    I Also Recommend:

    just so... blah

Being such a big fan of Sunny's characters from the Mona Lisa series, I was looking forward to read up on what Prince Halcyon's sister, Lucinda, was like. Who was this high princess of hell, Blaec's other child? I'm so glad I read the Mona Lisa series first because I could have wasted so much time following Lucinda's story, which pales in comparison. I made it as far as chapter four before I realized that the story wasn't going to be anywhere near as intriguing or exciting as I hoped it to be. Not worth the $11 I dropped on the eBook version of this story. Sorry Sunny, but a series as captivating and unique as Mona Lisa's would be a seriously tough act to follow. This first book I bought (Lucinda, Darkly) will most definitely be the last (for this series at least).

    Hard to get through

I tried repeatedly to get through this book but it was a trial and when I finally got to the end, I wasn't satisfied. I previously read Mona Lisa Awakening which was a much better story and I thought this would be similar. But Lucinda, Darkly carries the same flaw that could be overlooked in Mona Lisa, a meandering seemingly aimless plot. The book starts out with an overlong love scene which doesn't do much to establish the characters. I disliked the constant switching from first to third person narrative, in no small part because it wasn't at all necessary. While Lucinda seemed like she could be interesting, her men seemed like a collection of children rather than adults. The claimed love between her and Stefan was unconvincing. I hardly believed them friends let alone in love.

    Devastatingly good

Sunny has truly out done herself with this newest series that is a spin off from one of her previous series. i really thought i was buying this book to find out if Lucinda was mildly acceptable, not realizing that the moment this book came into my hands i would be ripped from my cozy couch into a world filled adventure, blood, and amazing sex. imagine my shock at the end of the book when i found myself wishing for just one page more
