Overview

To support her orphaned niece, impoverished Brianna O'Keefe accepts work with a Colorado rancher. To guard herself from unwanted attention, she resorts to a harmless little lie: that she's married to a Denver gold miner named David Paxton. But when her "husband" shows up, Brianna is stunned-not the least by her desire...

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Startled out of his relatively peaceful life as the sheriff of tiny No Name, CO, when letters arrive suggesting he might have a wife and a child—and he has no recollection of either—David Paxton heads for Glory Ridge to check things out. He finds an adorable six-year-old who is definitely a Paxton, a fiercely protective Irish beauty who claims she's married to a different David Paxton, and a dilemma he's hard-pressed to solve. A forced marriage and a little girl's impulsive announcement take the decision out of the couple's hands and set them on a rocky, lie-strewn path to an unexpected relationship. VERDICT Gentle humor, flirtatious banter, beautifully drawn characters, and a worthy plot result in a poignant, family-centered story that draws readers in and makes them want to stay. Anderson (Here To Stay) lives in rural Oregon.

Meet the Author

Catherine Anderson lives in the Oregon mountains with her husband and her Rottweilers, Sam and Sassy, who seem convinced that they are teacup poodles and that obedience training is for people. Catherine spends leisure time with her family and friends, including her sons and daughter-in-law, often discussing intriguing story twists for her books. Such talks can draw curious stares if they happen to take place in a restaurant and involve plotting the demise of a fictitious villain.

An award-winning author of twenty published works, Catherine is currently working on her next full-length romance for Onyx.

    Hmmm

I usually love Catherines books, but the heroine in this one is especially stupid. I'm only on chapter 6 and I'm already fed up.. I'll read the whole thing for sure, but would recommend for any other buyers to wait for a sale.

    not to be missed!

catherine anderson is the best romance writer i've ever read. she does not disappoint in this story of david paxton, the continuing saga of the coulter family. david is surprised to learn he fathered a child. he doesn't remember the mother, but the child is a perfect image of his mother. the coulter birthmark is there too. the twists and turns that happen to lead to the romantic ending are intriguing to say the least. the ending alone will leave you going, what? catherine anderson took a while to get us the story of david, but it was worth the wait!

    Great story, enjoyable read

Another great story from Catherine Anderson. It is a sweet story that tells of love and forgiveness with great characters and a little humor thrown in. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

    I buy Catherine Anderson period.

As stated I am a huge fan and buy, no questions, no indecision. This was not my favorite Anderson book. Her 'Cheyenne Amber' takes that honor. But it was still an Anderson book. And I still enjoyed it. The plot was, as usual original. Which I always like about her books. While I would give most of her books 5 stars, I would rate this one 3.5 stars, if I could. Since I cannot I go with 4. This book is for historical fans who, like me, feel the recent lack of historicals good or bad is an abomination! And are hungry for more historicals to choose from. This author always lets you catch up with lives of characters from her previous books related to the hero in the current book. Which again, I enjoy.

Good read but the "forced into marriage" thing Catherine keeps using is getting old

Enjoyable, but tired of the "forced into marriage" thing. Catherine has done this theme with at least two other of her stories such as THE KEEGAN'S LADY. Its getting old. Still, the heroine and hero of this romance are great, real, kind, God loving people.

    Such a sweet story!

Brianna and Daphne were so deserving of such a great hero. It was good to see the hero stay true and win them both over!
