Overview

When monsters appear in Los Angeles, Maggie MacKay is on the job. No one is better at hauling the creepy crawlies back where they belong. No one, that is, except her dad, who disappeared without a trace in the middle of an assignment.

Now an elf named Killian has shown up with a gig. Seems Maggie's uncle is working with the forces of dark to turn Earth into a vampire convenience store, serving bottomless refills on humans.

The only hope for survival lies in tracking down two magical objects and a secret that vanished with Maggie's father.

World Walker Maggie MacKay is a tough woman whose lively hood is dedicated to tracking down magical creatures. These monsters have gone AWOL on the Earth side of the boundary. Her job is simple, find her mark, take him down dead or alive, and collect the bounty. However, when an elf named Killian gets her to help him to save the world, Maggie finds out that her job isn't as simple as it used to be. Throw in an evil uncle, a missing dad, a psychic mother and you got a really good quick read. Overall, I really enjoyed this novel. It was a pretty good mystery that kept me reading. If you are looking to read a mystery with a sassy female lead with a paranormal twist, then you will like this book.

I just love when an author puts out a free read, & it turns out to be fantastic, & then you discover a new author you love. This had a lot of action & humor. This story had me laughing and intrigued. It was an easy and very enjoyable read. I totally recommend & look forward to the next in the series.

Normally, if I don't like a book thqt begins a series I wont continue reading, however, I liked this book. The characters were fairly lively and interesting. I plan to continue on reading the rest of the series.

Rollicking good time with a nice twist of the vampire/supernatural world. I'm now looking forward to the rest of the series!  p.s. This is NOT a YA book, plenty of good four letter words. Must be why I like it so much >;P

The first in Danley's urban fantasy series is a fast, light read. The characters are a lot of fun; Maggie keeps an engaging internal monologue going through the whole story. My only complaint is that the final confrontation with the bad guy was over rather quickly. (The swearing may also be a bit much for some readers.) Recommended to fans of Devon Monk, Seanan McGuire, and Meghan Doidge. -- lyradora

I came across this book by purchasing the Magic After Dark Boxed Set which included 6 books from 6 different authors.....all from the urban fantasy / paranormal genre. What a great find! This is the first book I've read by the author but it will definitely not be the last! Interesting story line but I loved the sarcastic wit the most. The female lead is the start of a strong character which I hope will be further developed in the series. I liked The supporting characters as well, I could easily picture the old chain-smoking chinese man. I highly recommend checking this fun, easy and refreshing story out yourself...... I'm going to buy the next in the series right now!!

This story is never boring.  It got my attention immediately and I was hooked.  An easy read, like candy for the brain  I am going to start on book 2 .  Maggie is a great heroine, with a brain and courage.  Very believeable.  Highly recommend this book.

wasn't sure I'd like this but it was a good story. Strong female leading the good fight, but not too good to except help, when needed. For a quick read over the weekend perfect length. Enjoy
