Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Nancy Baumann
Christopher Columbus and Captain John Smith claimed to have seen them. Sailors and children have been saved, drowned or eaten by them. P.T. Barnum and Dr. J. Griffin captured one and had it on display, and China was founded by one. Many of the stories and myths about mermaids and mermen are included in this easy-to-read chapter book. Colorful illustrations give the reader an idea of what these mysterious creatures possibly looked like. Each chapter covers a tale or myth from another country and pronunciations for unfamiliar words are included to assist the reader. Elementary-aged students will enjoy the entertaining legends about this popular mythical creature. This is part of "The Stepping Stones "series, beginning chapter books for young readers. It should be longer

I wish that it was longer but it looks awesome on Nook Color. You should read this even though it is not my reading level. I would be on level 2000 if they had one.

The Island of Hope: Part Two!

Its been forever sense i wrote part one, and to be honest, Ive been grounded. Now i am free to write! (For now.) Now, lets go to part two!! ~~ Jacob helped Aqua through the large village on the Island of Hope and saw Rachael talking with the village medic. "Rachael?" Doctor Martin asked in a hushed voice. "Are you sure about letting her stay?" Rachael nodded. "Yes. Our ancestors came to this island in the same condition she is in now. It would be rude to leave her." Martin nodded a couple of times. "Ill give her a quick look to see if she was in good health." Jacob cleared his throat. "Shes freezing, for one Doctor." Martin and Rachael looked at him then down at Aqua. "Ill be right back." Martin said then hurridly went towards his tent. "Hello." Rachael smiled kindly and crouched down. "Im Rachael." "Im Aqua." She said quitely and kept looking around the village. "Its nice to meet you, Aqua." Rachael smiled. "Come on inside." She motioned to the tent behind her. "Come, on." Jacob said gently, half carrying Aqua inside. Aqua looked around and plopped on the matress, almost causing Jacob to fall over. He stumbled a few steps and held his head up as Rachael chuckled. "I meant to do that." He said. "Sure you did." Rachael laughed. Aqua smiled slightly and looked around for a blanket or something. "Here. Wear this for now." Jacob daid, holding out a warm green cloak. Aqua smiled and put it on over her shoulders. "Thank you." She said and wrapped it around herself. "You in there?" Martin asked from outside. "Yes we are." Jacob said. "Come in." "Dont need to tell me twice." Martin muttered and closed the tent flap behind him. "You came early." Rachael said. Martin nodded. "Wanted to get this over with. Open up." He said to Aqua. She opened her mouth halfway and Martin nodded, writing a note down, then he did many other tests. "She lost a bit of her sight in whatever happened. She has quite a few bruses, and other then she is cold, she is perfectly fine." "What are we going to do about her eyes?" Jacob asked, taking a hunting knife out of Aqua's curious hands. "Give her glasses, of course. What happened to your glasses, Jacob? Hum? Forget to wear them?" Martin said rummaging through his bag. "Try these on." He handed Aqua a pair of thin glasses. "There's a lot of detial." She said, not knowing what the glasses were for. Martin nodded. "Can you see the edges of the tent?" Aqua looked aroumd then nodded. "Good. I guess i did my job. Goodbye. Try nit to batter yourself up." Martin said, glancing at Jacob. Then he swung his bag over his shoulder and ducked under the tent. "How're you feelung Aqua?" Jacob askedm "Hush." Rachael said quitely. "She just fell asleep." Jacob nidded. "Okay. Im going to go back out to the docks." He stood up and nodded farewelk before heading back out. ~~ im literally falling asleep now. So thats all for part two. Next part will be at the next res. BYE!
