I was excited to read 'Midnight Man' due to all the 5 stars reviews, but this story left me greatly disappointed. This was my first read by Lisa Marie Rice and it didn't leave a good impression on me so I don't know if I'll continue the 'Midnight' Series or check out her other works. First of all, I liked the concept of the story. I love Romantic Suspense and thought this story would be just what I needed for the time being. Upon the first couple of pages, nothing held my interest and that continued throughout the whole story. I must also have to admit, it was painful to finish and so I scanned the last half of the book to see how it ended. So here's my reasons why this is a low rating book for me: the pacing was super slow; it bored me to tears. The characters were unlikeable. The characters had no depth, no real connection, and things moved way too fast between the protagonists to be remotely realistic. The whole story takes place within a week's time and the characters were already having rough sex against a wall after their first dinner date. Also, the hero, John, came off as a chauvinistic pig sometimes due to some remarks of his and seemed to only want what was between the woman's legs. He radiated lust to the extreme and only wanted to jump the woman's bones whenever he can. Then that brings me to the heroine Suzanne; she was a businesswoman, but had no spine whatsoever and falls into submission whenever John touches her. The sex was boring, the plot fell flat, and what was trying to pass as suspense was a huge fail. Lastly, the story ended abruptly and everything was resolved in a quickie within the last few pages. Overall, I did not enjoy 'Midnight Man.' Others seemed to highly like it so maybe this was just not my cup of tea. Other authors that excel in this category are Pamela Clare, Roxanne St. Claire, Christy Reece, and Cindy Gerard. If you like steamy romance with passion, love, and REAL suspense check these authors out. As for Lisa Marie Rice's Midnight Man, it was a huge disappointment.

It started out OK, but this guy is a huge horndog. The suspense never really went anywhere. I was waiting for the story to get going but after the shoot out, they go to a cabin in mountains and it's just sex, sex, sex and more sex. I guess if that is what you want to read, go for it, it just didn't do it for me.

I loved the story but only gave it 4 stars because the ending is so abrupt. There was a lot left to say. It literally shocked me when it said THE END

John is an intense alpha who tends to be too overprotective while Suzanne is a classy, quiet and peaceful girl. Talk about opposites attract! They are the most highly unlikely couple that could be but when Suzanne's life is in on the line and John goes all the way out to protect her and keep her from danger, they can't help but fall in lust and in love with each other. The story is fast paced, exciting, suspenseful and the attraction and chemistry between John and Suzanne is HOT, HOT, HOT! Although it seems kinda like reading an erotica, the story has more than just sex, sex and sex. ** I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. When someone tries to murder Suzanne Barron, her tenant (a sexy alpha ex-seal) John Huntington steps in to protect her. This is the first book in Lisa Marie Rices' Midnight series. I cannot tell you how much I love these books. If you are looking for a hero who can steam up the pages--look no further than Midnight Man. All the books in the series are stand alone stories, but I think you should start at the beginning, and work your way through the hot men of Alpha Security. I think I like Lisa Marie Rices' stories because her heroes are not perfect. They each have their own faults and insecurities to deal with, and this makes them so much more real.

Midnight man is full of testosterone and mystery. Lisa Marie Rice did an outstanding job with this book and its characters. Suzanne Barron's life is turned upside down, not only by John Huntington her new sexy tenant but by someone who wants her dead. John is like know one Suzanne as ever met. He exudes power and danger, nothing like the men she prefers. When trouble finds Suzanne she can only think of one person to help her. Retired Navy SEAL Commander John Huntington always gets what he wants and right now it's Suzanne Barron his new land lady. She's classy with sexy curves and unlike any women he's used. When Suzanne calls him in the middle of the night scared about an intruder, John goes into full midnight man mode to protect her. I received an ARC from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This book was very good! Great characters, good plot and the love scenes of a wet dream. The only reason I gave it four stars and not five was because I felt it should have had a little bit of an after story. I am a paranormal fan so for it to keep my interest says a lot. Give it a try if you like explicit stories with hardcore, manly men!
