Overview

She was created for a purpose so revolutionary, someone was willing to kill for it.

Seventeen-year-old Lexi Matthews keeps two secrets from her elite boarding school classmates-she's the daughter of a famous and controversial geneticist, and she can influence people's thoughts.

But after new student Jack DeWeese heals her broken arm with an anything-but-simple touch, he forces Lexi to face a new reality-her abilities reach much further than speaking to the minds of others.

After Lexi's father goes missing and she receives threatening emails, she can't decide whether to fall into Jack's arms or run and hide.

As Lexi seeks answers to what she and Jack are, she discovers a truth more unsettling than anything her science books can teach. And letting Jack into her life of secrets is not only a threat to her very existence, but it just might break her heart wide open.

Meet the Author

Heather Sunseri was raised on a tiny farm in one of the smallest towns in thoroughbred horse country near Lexington, Kentucky. After high school, she attended Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, and later graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in accounting. Always torn between a passion for fantasy and a mind for the rational, it only made sense to combine her career in accounting with a novel-writing dream.

Heather now lives in a different small town on the other side of Lexington with her two children, and her husband, Mike, the biggest Oregon Duck fan in the universe. When she's not writing or working as a CPA, she spends her time tormenting her daughter's cat, Olivia, and loving on her son's Golden Retriever, Jenny. MINDSPEAK is her first published novel.

I read about "Mindspeak" from a review on The Character Therapist. I wanted something different to read and after reading the review, I located the book and read the first few pages. Heather Sunseri brings a fresh new voice to the table, and the only thing I could think of after reading the last page is "Darn, how long do I have to wait for the next book?" I enjoyed the plot and well developed characters. Heather certainly had me turning pages, and in a few places biting my lip in anticipation. Great read!

I very much enjoyed this first installment of this author's writing. The book is well written with great characters and fresh new ideas. It does not contain foul language or behavior to get it's points across. I look forward to the next two books.

Is it ethical to tamper with genetics, to clone or to use the children of these procedures as part of a secret program? Can Lexi trust the new student, Jack to understand what she is dealing with as a mind speaker? Is there more to Jack than meets the eye? When Jack tells Lexi she is capable of more than just speaking to other minds and Lexi’s scientist father goes missing, the chaos of her world explodes in a flurry of action, adventure and danger in this fresh new YA fantasy, Mindspeak by debut author Heather Sunseri. Can these special children live as “normal” teens? With quirky characters, serious characters and heroic characters, all with great dialogue, you will chuckle, gasp, grit your teeth and sigh heavily as the romance becomes a sweet message of hope for the future. And don’t forget the frustration as Jack withholds information from Lexi, promising to tell her later. Ugh! I kept asking Jack, ‘What if later never comes?’ Yep, I was lost completely in this tale. If this is representative of the distinctive style of Heather Sunseri, I see a fabulous future for this author!

Overall it is a good book. I like all the charactars accept Briana(snotty mean girl) and the main charactar, Lexi, annoys me a little too because she asks WAY too many questions ALL the time. This book has agood plot but I wish Lext would just trust Jack and stop saying such hurtful things to him. She's so hot and cold. One minute she's happy, the next she's crying, having a panic attack. The book I must say is a little confusing at times, but most of it kept me on the edge of my seat. I reccomend this book if you like romance, and a good plot to go along with it.

I stumbled upon this book in the "free ebook" section & decided to give this a try since I was tired of cheesy mysteries. I don't have a single regret! This is an amazing  book if you're into scifi. I often found myself smiling goofily or with a stern expression on my face, which was embarrassing but goes to show how great the book was. I couldn't put it down

What I really enjoyed about this book is that you are finding answers with the main character. I was never reading along waiting for the main characters to finally raelize what we as readers already had concluded.

This was better than I expected. I definitely did not see some the character twists that occured. Nm.

I read the entire book in 18 hours.... I was so engulfed in the complexity and details, I couldn't put it down! The brief moments of sleep only brought dreams of the characters. A must read! Hanging on for the next book!

I wish I could give zero stars. It's so boring it just drags on and on and Lexi is sooooooooooo back and forth. She just doesn't whatever and could care less about her safety. I just can't finish this book glad it's free

It ends on a cliffhanger. And parts of it are hard to read. Just so painful that it hard to continue on. But pushing past that and some of the jumbled facts, it's not a bad read.

Characters are good. Storyline is interesting. The only negative is that there have been a ton of books lke this recently.

Excellent character development. Good start and then gets repetitive for a while. Once it gets back on track the action explodes with an amazingly interesting plot. Have already downloaded the next two in the series.

For this book I thought that it was going to be way different than what it actually is. See I thought it was just someone that was made in a lab and then put into someone to grow up as a normal person until her powers surfaced. At least that is what I originally thought until I got to a certain point and I was reading a part that made me rethink my first thought of the book. I was actually surprised by that part and I didn't mind really that I was wrong since that is a good thing to do. I love it very much. This book is a really good book and I will recommend it to anyone. I will give it five stars. To read more book reviews like this one please go to my book review blog site @ baronessbooktrove. Thanks so much! You won't regret it!!!

If the author would just ever get to the point it really would have helped out this book-but instead all you get is the run-around. It isn't even suspenseful-just annoying and unrealistic. The main character is so annoying. This book has a good premice, but falls way short. Would love to see a good author get a hold of what could have been a great storyline. Save your money on this one!
