A woman returns from a leopard changeling's past, making him question his base animal instincts-and unlock the darkest secrets of his heart.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly

Earth of 2080 continues a cold war with the chilling aliens the Psy in Singh's fourth fierce installment of the Psy-Changeling series (after Caressed by Ice). Half-human, half-leopard changeling Clay Bennett is shocked when lovely Talin McKade, wracked with illness and similarly half-changeling, returns to his life, having disappeared from his childhood 20 years before. Talin works at San Francisco's Shine Foundation, dedicated to helping gifted but needy children, and a growing number of her missing charges have been turning up sans brains. There's plenty of purring passion to keeps things hot as the Leopard shape-shifters Clay and Tally fall breathlessly in love, while the Psy continue to use children as guinea pigs for developing a hive mind. While this is paranormal romance at its best, newcomers are advised to check out the earlier adventures first. (Feb.)

My favorite of the first 5. I enjoyed the lack of a Psy love interest for once. Gave us something different. Loved Tally & Clay's playfulness.

    This book Possess you

From the get go, one knew this story was going to be very powerful with 2 very strong characters. I loved the change of pace having a woman as dominant in her needs as the men. It was a fantastic exotic and lovely ride.

    Phenomenal Addition to the Series

On what should have been a simple mission of rounding up rowdy Changeling teens, sentinel Clay detects the scent of a human woman he'd thought was long dead. Talin lied about her death to get some distance from the traumatic memories of her past. However, the street kids that she mentors start disappearing and Clay is the only one she can turn to for help. Clay finds it hard to forgive Tally for her desertion, but now that she's back, he won't let her go. In the hunt for the predators after the kids, Clay must reconcile himself to his past and Tally must cope with her future.Building the arc started in 'Caressed by Ice,' even more is learned about the Psy race and the world before the Silence Protocol. The Snowdancers make cameo appearances and the plot delves further into the DarkRiver world. With every book, Ms. Singh only creates further depth in the Psy/Changeling/Human world. Tally and Clay are well developed with full-fledged histories and Ms. Singh gives tantalizing glimpses into their future. Alas, the reader will have to wait until 'Hostage to Pleasure' to see these fascinating characters again.

Much more than a hot romance!

This book is the fourth in a great series but can stand alone, if you haven't read the others yet (you will!). It offers a rich tapestry that keeps the reader riveted and turning the pages to the end. Character developement, action, and romance are cleverly woven to create a world you can reach out and touch. In this book Clay is teetering on the edge of going rogue as a leopard but is caught on the brink by the return of his childhood friend and true love, Talen. She is scarred from abuse in her past and suffering from a mysterious and progressive disease. Can they find their way back to togetherness and save each other and the stolen children that Talen is searching for? The friends and 'family that they interact with and the challenges that they overcome makes a (sometimes darkly) charming and exciting story.

    fantastic characters

I have been eagerly awaiting this book since I finished Caressed by Ice 'within a day or two of its release'. I am pleased to say that I was not disappointed. Clay and Talin are well developed characters that just feel like they suit each other perfectly. I loved both of their backstories and I loved the fact that the book was so character driven. Many authors who write series make the mistake of spending too much time on past and future main characters, but Ms. Singh always makes sure that her main couple takes center stage. If you haven't read this series yet, start with Slave to Sensation and enjoy. You won't be disappointed.

    Nalini Singh has another homerun

This is the 4th book in Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series, and she just keep getting better. Mine to Possess tell of how DarkRiver leopard loner Clay is reunited with his long lost friend and one true love Talin. As they struggle with their relationship they must battle to forces of evil to save the live of innocent children. The story continues to carry and expand the Psy-Changling Universe giving get more depth to that world. I could not put this book down. It grabs you and keeps you fascinate with it's complex characters and riveting storyline.

    more from this reviewer

    an excellent urban fantasy

In 2080 the war of attrition between the Earthlings and the Psy continues unabated with hot spots seemingly bursting everywhere as neither side trusts the other. Half breed Clay Bennett was raised by a human mother in the human slums without ever knowing the changeling leopard that sired him. Two decades ago as a youngster without a guiding pack he failed to learn how to control the animal instinct of his nature and caused a deadly incident that still haunts him even as he has dedicated his life since becoming a Dark River sentinel.----------- Thus when Clay sees half-breed Talin McKade for the first time in twenty years, he is euphoric. She was his best friend as a child before the incident devastated both their lives. Like Clay, Talin has dedicated her life since the incident that shaped them she works at San Francisco's Shine Foundation helping needy children. Recently some of her kids have vanished only to return brainless victims of Psy experiments to create a hive. As the half human half Leopard pair reunite and fall in love, they work together to try to protect the young from the heinous Psy experimentation.------------------- The fourth Psy-Changeling tale, MINE TO POSSESS, is an excellent urban fantasy romance that stars two terrific half-breeds whose past contains warmth and friendship for one another, but also one shattering pivotal moment. There reconciliation is handled quite cleverly as they team up to save the children. The Psy is as insidious as ever however to fully grasp the complex Singh saga, newcomers should read the previous three superb thrillers (see SLAVE TO SENSATION, VISIONS OF HEAT and CARESSED BY ICE).------------- Harriet Klausner
