John Dewey (1859–1952) was an American philosopher and one of the most preeminent educational reformers of the twentieth century. Best known for his publications concerning education, including The School and Society, Experience and Nature, and Freedom and Culture, Dewey was also active in social and political reform, including women’s suffrage.
