I loved the book. It was a Western, a romance and it had the author's brand of humor throughout. The characters were three dimensional, the story original, and the wrap up was great because all the characters remained true to the end.

Daisy Gardner is not against marriage so much as against marriage to a rancher who is gonna take her out of town. See, she wants to be a detective and cannot do that if she is "stuck" on a ranch. She decides that the town needs a marshal and she is gonna marry that marshal so she can be a detective.
Cole and Bosco are ranchers who have gotten themselves into a situation and Cole has gotten shot. He is losing blood fast so Bosco takes him to the closest town to see a doctor. When they arrive the whole town thinks that Cole is the new marshal and he is sworn in before he has a chance to explain himself.
Through a sequence of events Daisy and Cole find their feelings for one another growing but what happens when the "real" marshal finally shows up?
The characters in this book are the best. Cole is a strong, dependable man with a heart of gold, Bosco is simply a hoot, and Daisy is one fiery young lady who knows what she wants and gets what she wants. The secondary characters are a welcome addition to this book and add quite a bit to the story. I really liked how there are secondary love stories so quite a few people find their HEA. Oh and the widow sisters, ha, they are just plain hilarious.
I loved the plot line and thought that is was very well though out and planned. The events are true to the time period and that is important to me in a historical novel. Ms Rogers did a fantastic job adding the perfect combination of story, dialogue, humor, and passion to make this a very good book. The only thing that I didn't like was the story tended to get a little wordy and I found myself skimming through some parts to get back the good stuff. Aside from that, this is a definite must read for historical western lovers.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The characters and the craziness of Jacquie Rogers is quite a combination. I laughed out loud throughout reading this book. Highly recommend it and you will be definitely looking for the second book in the series like I am.
