A new beginning. An old mystery.

Cassie Hartt had never seen the ocean before and now it surrounds her. Her parents have split up, and she has moved with her mother and little brother to Kittiwake Bay, Maine. As Cassie struggles to adapt to life in the coastal town, she finds herself drawn to Waterview Manor, the mysterious mansion high up on a cliff. Though Waterview is now a retirement home, rumors of hidden treasure and passageways that were once part of the Underground Railroad swirl around the manor.

Eager to learn more about the manor's history, Cassie becomes a volunteer. Before long, valuable objects are reported missing and everyone is a suspect. Cassie teams up with a new friend to search for clues, but as they dig deeper their investigation takes a dangerous turn. Can Cassie find the thief of Kittiwake Bay — before the thief finds her?

With help from her new friend Ryan, thirteen-year-old Cassie explores the mysteries surrounding a mansion in Maine that was once an Underground Railroad stop and is now a retirement home.

    Mystery at Kittiwake Bay

This book was one of my favorites. Mystery at Kittiwake Bay is about a young girl named Cassie Hartt that moves form Ohio to Kittiwake Bay Maine during the summer, after her parents divorce. Cassie lives with her mother, brother, and dog Sam. As she gets settled she meets new friends and discovers a mystery. Liz is a girl that Cassie meets walking on the beach with her cat Minerva. Then she meets Ryan and Marc. Marc and Ryan work at the nursing home in Kittiwake Bay that Cassie is volunterring at. Mrs. Wentworth, Mr. O'Reilly and Mr. Johnson are all residents of the nursing home. After many of Mrs. Wentworth's stories about Captain Kidd's treasure, Cassie and Marc go looking for it. They discover the tunnels that Mrs. Wentworth was talking about and they found all of the items that were stolen from there neighbors. They came back into town and found that the nursing home had caught on fire. All of the older people were ok. The police had caught the crimanals (Ryan and John) thinks to Cassie and Marc. In the end they are sitting around the TV eating popcorn and watching a movie.

    A reviewer

Mystery at Kittiwake Bay already caught my eye the day I saw it sitting on the shelf. I loved how the book starts with an eye-catcher, a BOOM to where Cassie sees the blinking lights. This book has a little of everything in it: romance, violence, mystery, anxiety... I RECOMMEND IT!
