    Passion is Right!!

Paige and her friend, Rosa, are in Japan enjoying a night out at the bar. Rosa is living it up, she’s sexy and she knows it, and so does everyone in the bar. Paige is more like a wallflower, a bit jealous of her friend. At first Paige was making me a bit mad, she was being so constantly negative the first night at the bar. I felt like she was just radiating negative energy and that’s what she got in return. But then as the story goes on, and you learn more about her and her past, you see that its not negative energy – she’s just used to being delivered with disappointment.

When Casey came into Paige’s life my interest really peaked. He’s one of those soft spoken guys that you know could rip apart an enemy in a heartbeat. And his determination in showing Paige he was interested in her and not Rosa was completely endearing. Yep, I definitely developed a crush on Casey.

Something else I really liked about this story, and you don’t see it too often; Paige is not some modelesque twenty-something girl. She is in her forties, she has curves, and the battle scars of bearing children. She could easily be you or me. Or maybe just me? Haha J Anyhow, she is a real woman, she is someone I was able to relate to on a physical level, and I liked it.

The heat between Casey and Paige is fantastic. They work together like a long term couple with all the fire of a one night stand. I found myself eagerly waiting each scene with the two of them, whether or not it was in the bedroom. Even outside of the bedroom Casey treated Paige so well, so tenderly, it was really great to see.

Then suddenly Paige’s husband shows up. Dalton. Ugh, I instantly don’t like this guy. He is a top notch jerk. He’s a big time liar, and when Paige finds out exactly what the secret is, well, let’s say it gets a bit crazy.

I definitely recommend this story on several levels. It’s only around 100 pages, so its not very long. But in that short span you get a budding romance, some great woman on woman friendship, the drama of a marriage gone down the tubes, the action of a paranormal story – cause lets face it, there are vampires in this story. But I’ll leave that part for you to read.

Check out the excerpt below that the author, MaryLynn Bast, has given me. Let me know what you think. I recall this scene perfectly. I loved the kiss, I bet you will too!

Have you ever started reading a book and have it make you smil

Have you ever started reading a book and have it make you smile from page one? Well One Bite To Passion did that for me. I found myself grinning as I read this story and blushing when asked what I was reading. I was able to identify with the main protagonist Paige right off and loved how her character was so real and level headed. She is an intelligent woman who finds herself in a very out of character situation having been dragged along by her friend, Rosa, to a night of dancing and play setting in motion the dynamics of this story. One Bite To Passion is most definitely an adult read and is full of steamy, tasteful, and well written bits of passion. I enjoyed the mental byplay that Paige goes through on this journey. She meets a man - oh yes a younger man, who treats her like the jewel of a woman she is. She is married, although has been separated from her husband for work for about six months, and struggles with the moral dilemma of being attracted to Casey, while continuing to harbor old hurts from her husband's having had a previous affair. The paranormal aspect of this short novella is not obvious from the beginning of the story, although there are hints that something different is going on, and this is not fully revealed until almost the end of the story. I personally would have liked to have more of the paranormal element fleshed out more, but then again this is a short story and I am a greedy reader who enjoys immersion into a new world. I do not know if there is more to come from these characters, but I can see this being read as a prequel to a series or just a sweet short bit of erotica. However, my vote would be for this to be a prequel as I can see the world unfolding with new adventures on the next page! I would recommend One Bite To Passion to anyone who enjoys a short bit of tasteful erotica with a bit of a paranormal twist.
This book was given to me by the author requesting my honest opinion and I have received no remuneration other than the pleasure of reading a new story.

She has done it again. One Bite to Passion is the second book I’ve ready by the amazing MaryLynn Bast. It is a fantasy, paranormal, romance, with some HOT scenes. Paige is uncomfortably forced into the club scene where she meets a man that turns her world upside down. He stirs up feelings and thoughts that she thought impossible. She allows herself to leave her uptight lifestyle and go after what she really wants. Her whirlwind weekend is snapped back to reality when an unexpected guest arrives. Thou warned by her dreams, she quickly finds herself in a situation that she is unable to just walk away from and her life is forever changed. MaryLynn Bast has quickly moved herself up to my top authors list. I love the way she writes and you cannot help but feel like you are right in the pages. She writes with such emotion and passion. One Bite of Passion is a great, HOT read and I highly recommend it and cannot wait for more from MaryLynn Bast. I give this book 5 of 5 stars.

In One Bite to Passion, Bast introduces us to shy and awkward Paige who is stationed on a military base in Japan with her friend Rosa, who is the complete opposite of Paige. Rosa is a sensual and outgoing gal who loves to have a good time and also has a very open marriage with her husband. Rosa starts to take Paige out to clubs and getting her to open up and explore her sexuality.

As the story progresses we find that Paige has been dealing with a loveless marriage since her husband cheated on her. Even though she has told herself that she forgives him deep down she hasn’t. She meets tall and sexy Casey at a bar one night and has the most unbelievable night of sex. Even though Casey declares his love for her the next day, Paige feels that she must honor her marriage vows and not act on impulse. Unfortunately for Paige she is actually in the middle of a life and death situation involving vampires. She must choose Casey or her husband. Either way, someone might die.

The beginning of this book was hard for me to get into. There was not much mention of vampires except for a hint in the dreams that Paige was having. The last part was incredible and I wish Bast would have expanded on that part. The uniqueness of her vampires really draw you in and you want more by the end. Paige’s character also becomes more likeable by the end once she gains her backbone. I look forward to reading the next installment.

I don't usually like novellas, but I enjoyed this one. The main thing I liked about this book was the characters. In a lot of the short stories that I've read, there is rarely good character development. That is not the case with this book. I think the author did an amazing job in writing characters that are easy to connect with.

This book started out slow. It took about 50 pages for me to start getting in to it. Once I did though, I didn't want to put it down. I really wish it was a full length novel so I could read more of it.

I was pleasantly surprised by the steaminess of this novel. For some reason, I didn't really expect it to be as hot as it was. Bast really knows how to write the sex scenes.

If you like novellas with great characters, and even better sex scenes, this book is definitely for you. I don't think you will be disappointed.

*I received this book as part of a book tour in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.*

    Ooohh la la passion!

Okay. So, I read Ms. Bast's No Remorse novel and really enjoyed it. I was absolutely stoked to take part in reviewing this new book by her. I'll be honest, though, and say that the beginning of this story was slow. It was all about the back and forth of Rosa getting all the attention and Paige being the 40 something lonely woman. But, pushing past that slowness, I fell further and further into a story that is filled with steamy passion and a vampire's raging war. Paige's story comes full circle for me and realize that the beginning was slow because Paige was building up to the amazing ending that Ms. Blast wrote! Paige is lonely. She hasn't seen her husband, Dalton, in months, but it started long before that. Things happened and the romance dwindled, leaving her wondering about the marriage, especially after Dalton cheated on her. Sent to Japan on an assignment for the Army, Paige and her friend Rosa spend a night out in a bar. A bar where Paige meets the sexy vampire, Casey. Problem is, she doesn't know that Rosa and Casey (and Dalton!) are vampires until she starts having nightmares and comes to realize that she is the one that the vampires want. Not only do they want her, Paige has a bigger problem. Which vampire to choose....her husband, Dalton. Or the sexy Casey? Only one vampire clan can win, only one vampire will have her love, but which one? A vampire who has had Paige trapped in a marriage hanging on for family's sake, or a vampire who has shown Paige that one bite of passion is filled with so much more meaning and romance? By the end of this story, I needed a fan and tall glass of ice water, not to mention that I wanted to go to Japan and search out my own totally amazing Casey! *Fans self* Wow. Ms. Blast created a 4 Book worthy paranormal romance that is filled with hot passion, tense suspense and characters that will come alive. I totally look forward to another fantastic paranormal romance from this truly talented author!
