    Scary

    As a high school runner, this book was very scary. I don't think people understand how hard it is to be popular and be cool when you don't do drugs and don't drink. I know what it is like and just started runner seriously giving alcohol and drugs, but not forever as thet sooth me, but for running. I have always been a pretty good runner, running track and playing soccer, until switching to XC this fall and giving up drugs. I had a 4:50 mile as a freshman in high school without training over the winter and with running ever before. Dan's book is very much the same line as mine. I have seen the effect of giving up these things and it's not something that i want to be going through. Many people don't understand this and Dan's book is meant to give us a view. When he really lays off the alcolhol and drugs and see where his life is going, is when he really has problems. Can anyone tell me if this is about him really?
