AMAZING beginning to a new series!!

Jo Davis is one of my favorite authors. I absolutely LOVED her FIREFIGHTERS OF STATION FIVE series and I couldn't wait to get my hands on Primal Law and og course, she did not disappoint. Her first Paranormal Romance written under her pseudonym, J.D. Tyler, was just as amazing as the rest of her books. Primal Law, the first book in the new Alpha Pack series had a great plot line, great characters and of course smokin' hot love scenes.

Jaxon Law is man scorned by betrayal and weighed down by the guilt of the death of his team mates and leader. He does not trust anyone outside his brothers, the Alpha Pack and is determined never to mate and trust a woman again.

Kira is a scientist working at New Life Technology. While employed, she starts to notice the suspicious behaviors of her employers and starts snooping around. She steals small canisters of what seems to be of skin samples that she believes and hopes will reveal the horrible secret she feels her employer is hiding and gets chased out side and then caught.

Enter Jax and the Alpha Pack team to the rescue. Jaxon Law (former Navy SEAL) is a Grey Wolf, RetroCog and Time-Bender. Jax hears Kira's screams and immediately responds. He sees 2 men attacking her and his wolf goes crazy. Although he has no idea why his wolf and he are taking the attack so personal, he shifts to wolf and kills both men. Jax then shifts back to man in front of Kira and they take her back to the Alpha Pack headquarters to figure out who is trying to kill her and why, as well as make sure she won't reveal their secrets.

Jax and Kira have an instant attraction to one another. Jax is scared to put his faith and trust into another woman after the last woman he thought he loved was responsible for trapping Jax and the Alpha Pack and killing 4 of the team members while the others struggled and fought for their lives.

Kira is thrust into a world she never could have imagined existed. She discovers she is Jax's mate and does not want to me mated because it's their fate. She wants to be mated because they love each other.

I really loved how they worked at their relationship and it wasn't instant love. They learned to trust in each other and then eventually fell in love.

I also fell in love with all of the men from Alpha Pack. Everyone one of these men steals your heart and leaves you anticipating his book.

Nick Westfall - The new Team Leader of Alpha Pack is a White Wolf, Empath and PreCog. Nick carries the burden of knowing the fates of his men, yet because of a tragic past mistake he won't interfere with destiny or free will.

Aric Savage - Red Wolf, Firestarter and Telekinetic. Aric harbors a terrible resentment of his shifting and Psy abilities, and sees them as a curse.

Kalen Black - is the newest and youngest member of the Alpha Pack. Black Panther, Sorcerer and Necromancer and the only known shifter of his kind.

"Hammer" - Grey Wolf, Tracer-Only Nick knows the mysterious giant's real name.

Zander Cole - Black Wolf and Healer-Zander nearly killed himself trying to save his teammates in the aftermath of the Noble massacre. Of all the survivors, he's the one not dealing with the tragedy and is a cause for grave worry among the others.

Ryon Hunter - Silver Wolf, Channeler and Telepath-Ryon is an original team member whose "sixth sense" gives the catch-phrase "I see dead people" a whole new meaning.

So, all in all...I LOVED this book and

    whoopee!

I won't give a synopsis of the plot but I will tell you it is an occassion to celebrate a new series and an author who can write! I loved the characters and the premise behind the series. Read and enjoy.

fans will enjoy meeting the Alpha Pack.

In Afghanistan, an attack left many in Jaxon Tyler's unit dead; those who survived were changed into werewolves. They became the Alpha Pack. However, he and his unit of shifters are betrayed by his girlfriend Beryl; he knows he is fortunate to survive while tossing his perfidious lover into the fire.

At NewLife Technology in Las Vegas, Jaxon rescues lab assistant Kira Locke from an assault. She knows something is not right at the lab so she steals samples so that she and her protector Jax can figure out what is happening. As the werewolf and the human work together, they fall in love; but each understands the mission to take down the unknown predatory Chappell comes first.

With a nod to Mandy M. Roth's Immortal Ops series, J.D. Tyler provides a fabulous first act with the introduction of the Alpha Pack, a military werewolf unit with other specialized paranormal talents. The story line is fast-paced from the opening betrayal and never slows down as the team works on learning who Beryl is allied with. Not all goes well as some members die and others are captured by the enemy. Although Kira accepts things too easily (after an initial short circuit) and acts and reacts over the top of the Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower, fans will enjoy meeting the Alpha Pack.

This book had a really entrancing story line, loved the side plots of all the men on Alfa team and was really caught by surprise at the twisted ending. Kept me spellbound throughout the story.

This is like a watered down, slightly altered version of Lora Leigh's Breeds series. If you're a fan of her, I wouldn't really recommend the Alpha Pack series.

In regards to the actual writing, if you're looking for a quick beach read, this will probably do. The characters jump far too easily into what the writer wants them to do, the plot feeling rushed and sometimes a little forced, the characters, especially the heroine, not given nearly enough to go with that leads her to where she's going.

The slang used is also rather juvenile. Most of the characters sound like college students rather than ex-Marines and scientists. I find it very hard to believe an ex-marine would drill his buddy's arms with his knuckles while parting, brother-in-circumstance or not. I admire the attempt at camaraderie, but it still feels very forced. All in all, I am not a fan.

Highly recommended ~ You MUST read this book!!!

Can I give a book more then a 5 rating? No...hmmm...well that kind of stinks cause I want to give this one more! This book falls in my top 5 favorite shifter books ever and I read a lot of shifter books! Fast, fun, emotional, and hot, throw in some sexy as hell shifters and a kick ass heroine and oh my...you have yourself a good time *wink* I absolutely loved every aspect of this book. It has very intense in depth characters that will suck you in from the beginning. Jaxon is amazing. He is a tortured hero who has done everything in his power to protect the ones he loves. When a mission goes bad, he takes it very personally and he needs the love of the right women to heal his emotional hurt along with the physical. Kira...well, Kira just simply rocks. She is strong, determined, smart, and able to stand her ground in a house full of alpha power. She definitely knows how to put Jaxon on his knees. She didn't freak out when she found out about everything, nor did she turn into a whiny cry baby who needed to be coddled. NO..she stepped in and made her place in Jaxon's world and I respected her all the more for that. I don't know about you but I feel that there has to be just the right balance of dialogue and thought to make a book flow well. Too much of either and you are either confused or bored. Not the case here, there is a lot of dialogue and banter between all the characters and just enough thought and back story for you to completely understand what is going on. Ms. Tyler has created a world unlike any other I have read about. This book has all the things that I need in a romance novel for it to be complete. It has a strong H/H, a lot of amazing secondary characters, witty dialogue that will have you smiling, a great plot that flows well and is well thought out, and an ending that makes you crave more. Oh and did I mention this book is HOT! Oh my! The intimacy is just the right balance of heat and emotion, and will have you fanning yourself by the end. Ok , I am gonna quit now. I could go on and on about how amazing this books is but I won't. I am gonna trust that you will buy the book and see for yourself. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Loved Jo Davis Fireman series so thought I would try her new paranormal romance series under her alternate pseudonym JD Tyler.. The book is about a bunch of top secret guys who are shifters and also have some form of PreCog or RetroCog ability, the group is run by a former Navy SEALS (who some of these guys also used to be). They use there Psy and shifting abilities to find and destroy lethal humans and non-human predators. The author again brings alot humor between the group of men. I thought the book did a farely good job at introducing you to the series during the first two chapters. I didnt feel like I was overloaded with information and I understood the concept the author was trying to get across. I also liked that all the different species they captured or took in (there is a blue Fae with wings) were all hot looking as men. Hey nothing wrong with making all of your men hot in a book :)

I have to say it doesn't matter if she's writing as Jo Davis or J D Tyler her writing rocks! I loved this book and with me getting somewhat burned out on paranormals that's saying a lot. It was complete action from the first page on. I didn't want to put it down so I could know what what going on. It was sweet to see how both Jaxon and Kira interacted. They are perfect for each other. I'm so glad I was behind on reading this because I now have two more stories in this series coming soon. If you like paranormals, you'll love Primal Law's twist.
