Overview

The final electrifying installment in the #1 New York Times bestselling vampyre series

Zoey Redbird is in trouble. Having released the Seer Stone to Aphrodite, and surrendered herself to the Tulsa Police, she has isolated herself from her friends and mentors, determined to face the punishment she deserves—even if that means her body will reject the change, and begin to die. Only the love of those closest to her can save her from the Darkness in her spirit; but a terrible evil has emerged from the shadows, more powerful than ever…

Neferet has finally made herself known to mortals. Crowning herself a Dark Goddess, she is evil unleashed and is enslaving the citizens of Tulsa. The vampyres of the House of Night have banded with the police, and are gathering every last resource they have, but they know that no single vampyre is strong enough to vanquish her—unless that vampyre has the power to summon the elements as well as the ability to wield Old Magick. Only Zoey is heir to such power…but because of the consequences of using Old Magick, she is unable to help.

In the final novel in the House of Night series, an epic battle of Light versus Darkness will decide who is redeemed…and who is forever lost.

The House of Night series by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast is an international phenomenon, reaching #1 on U.S., German, and UK bestseller lists, and remaining a fixture on The New York Times Children's Series bestseller list for nearly 160 weeks and counting, with more than 12 million copies in print and rights sold in thirty–eight countries to date.

VOYA, December 2014 (Vol. 37, No. 5) - Ann McDuffie
This fast-paced story continues where the previous book, Revealed (St. Martin’s, 2013), left off. Zoey, a vampire fledgling, has been jailed for two possible murders. Though she takes full responsibility for her actions, the deaths may have been caused by darker forces. Meanwhile, Neferet, Goddess of Darkness, takes possession of dozens of innocent people, turning them into mindless supplicants. Gory slayings by grotesque creatures follow. Fighting bad magic with good, Zoey and her circle cast spells to defeat the evil goddess. Old magick meets the modern world in this twelfth and final installment of the popular vampire series House of Night. Multiple viewpoints allow the reader to experience several situations on both sides of the battle. Occasional contemporary humor lightens the otherwise dark and bloody plot. The world of vampires and immortals is well imagined. Secondary characters, though not fully drawn, are still quirky enough to satisfy casual readers. It is recommended that previous books in the series be read first, as occasional references to past events may leave a reader guessing. While this is not high literature, it is fun for vampire lovers. Reviewer: Ann McDuffie; Ages 12 to 18.

In the 12th and final installment of the House of Night series, Zoey Redbird and her band of fledgling vampyres prepare for one final battle, to restore the balance of Light and Darkness before Neferet, the self-proclaimed Goddess of Darkness, destroys everything they know and love. More powerful than ever, Neferet and her "threads of Darkness" are determined to unleash a bloody reign of terror on Tulsa, until every soul left living bows down to her in a "Dark Otherworld come to earth." As with the other House of Night novels, the momentum of the story often falters from extended lapses in action as time is devoted to the individual storylines of a large and unwieldy cast of characters. Though Zoey's sidekicks are entertaining enough, the novel would have benefited from greater focus to keep tensions high and to explore the intriguing suggestion that Zoey and Neferet might have more in common than either of them cares to think. It's a shame that this plot point is given short shrift. The novel is at its best when Zoey must tap into her innate powers, born of the spirit of the Goddess and her ancient Cherokee ancestors. Zoey's strength comes from her difference—a theme that has been consistent throughout the series and should resonate with fans one last time in the finale. (Paranormal romance. 14 & up)

Great end to a very good series. The Cast ladies have tied everything up with a pretty red bow. All questions answered, all problems solved. My only problem with this series is that I think I grew a little out of it. That would be a problem with a series geared toward teens that takes seven years to complete (I believe the first book came out in 2007). I would recommend this series to any teen (15+ years old). It covers so many teen angst issues throughout. From love to betrayal, friends to enemies. From when to have sex to when to break up. It teaches to love who you are and to believe in yourself. It deals with the average insecurities of any teenager. It is quite the spiritual read, if you take the time to feel that aspect. If you haven't read any in this series, PLEASE do not start here. Start with book one (Marked) and go from there. It is a wonderful series, and I hope you enjoy as much as I did (maybe even more, since you do not have to wait in between books anymore)! Thanx to both Cast girls. I know it was time for the series to end...I just know I am going to miss it. :~) -- SPeeD

I have read the whole series from beginning to end, and I will admit that I have had moments of laughter, sorrow, and anger. while the authors were busy writing the series and publishing them I felt this over the top rush of anticipation. I am really happy that I had gone out of my comfort zone and chose to read this series even when I denied that I would never pick up a vampire book. This was a great series to read and wait for even when I wanted them to hurry with the next!

I started reading this sires and really enjoyed it, however the last book is a huge let down. Compared to the earlier writing this storyline could have been a lot better. I think that while Zoey and her friends were growing up and learning the author forgot her fan base was also growing up. This has to be the cheeseiest most cliche and just awful. She really let the storyline just drop and it's really sad it had the potential to go out with a bang. If I didn't have the need to know how stories end I never would have got there. If I could return my ebook I would. -Sincerly Dissapointed

When I first started this series I didn't quite know what to expect, but goddess I received so much more than I could ever have imagined. Being of Cherokee decent my heart is filled with so much love that the authors showed such reverence to my people. I am sad that it ended, but am grateful for the feeling this story brings. Absolutely amazing!

I have read the entire series and fell in love with all the characters. The house of night series was well written and you can't help but get pulled into the series. Redemed was a good way of closing up the series. I am so sad that the series had to end. I feel like I have lost some truly amazing friends at the house of night. Like the saying goes; you know you've read a book and get to the end, and you feel like you've lost a good friend. Check out this amazing story, and if you haven't read the series from the beginning....do so, I promise you won't be dissapointed! Intrigued by Romance

The best was saved for last. I really really am happy about this final book to end this series. I cried and was happy in some parts that I won't mention. PC Cast has done a wonderful job writing this book and in doing so keeping ine interested in what will happen next. I really loved this book. Loved Zo and Aphrodites and her bff Stevie Ray and the whole nerd herd gang and grandma too. Well worth the read but let me remind you that you will be hooked. ENJOY !

This was one great finale! Thank you P.C. & Kristin Cast! Everyone who should have been redeemed was and we had a very satisfying conclusion. I am certain there will be naysayers who think it's too tidy of an end, but in my humble opinion those naysayers are full of "bullpoopie." ;) There were times I was concerned that too many characters would find redemption; I worried for naught. More than once tears welled in my eyes for the beauty of the love filling this tome. Perhaps you wonder why I gave this book 5 stars and a few previous only 3. In this final installment the characters were focused, strong, and united; their path relatively clear; their steps along the path shaky, but still filled with purpose and light. When I look back at the previous few, super frustrating installments I realize the genius of the authors. We readers felt the same frustration as Zoey and her Nerd Herd; we too wanted to take care of Nefret. However, none of the characters had grown enough to truly understand what had to be done. We readers grew with the characters. I do hope we get some additional updates as to how everyone is doing in the future. If not, that's okay. This is one of my favorite series and I am truly happy with this finale.

It goes without saying that this series is the best in the teen vampire genre. The fact that it has yet to be made into a horrible movie is even better. The last thing we need is another Twilight phenomenon.

Loves this series!!!! But it seemed to drag out a little bit. The very last book was amazing! Only problem I had was the whole series took its time then the end came and it wrapped up so fast. Other than that this book was great. Defiantly amazing detail and things you would expect! Cant wait for her new series!

I am currently halfway through this book, they just get better and better, which is unusual for a series. The characters are all complex and ever-evolving, which is something I appreciate. Love it!
