Mari Carr is a favorite author of mine. I know when I open one of her books, it's going to be a hot time. This book doesn't disappoint on the heat scale. Whew! I had to check my screen for singes and melted spots. Although this is a short tale, there is a lot going on and if you're like me, you won't be able to put it down.
Back in the day, Claire was shy, but she knew what she wanted - Jed. I love a woman who has determination. What I wasn't so sure about was how quickly she succumbed to him. I got that she wanted him then and now, but I almost felt like she shortchanged herself and then when he really came on strong, she backed way off. The flip flop was a bit of a burden, but it was realistic. The reader can identify with the bone deep need to be with someone and then the second thoughts about it.
Jeb... now there is one hunk of a man. Body rough-hewn from time on the rodeo circuit and dead-set on having her. I had to fan myself. Although he goes about wooing her a tad fast, I liked that when it came down to it, he took things on her terms. Lots of other men should take notes. He showed her he cared about her and wasn't about to give up. Very hot.
If you like stories with a control-oriented alpha and a woman who is equally dominant, then you need to read Rekindled. This is one book you won't want to miss. I give it 4.5 cherries.
