He's a gentleman

Foley Sanders figured he'll always be content with a life of cars and casual hookups. Until a run-in with Cyn, a statuesque firecracker with a hate-on for men, leaves him bewitched and intrigued-much to her annoyance.

Maybe Cynthia Nichols was a little hard on Foley, that muscular, tattooed, super-hot mechanic next door. But she's tired of feeling defensive about her size and has sworn off men. She's got a new job, new life, perfect plan. Foley has trouble written all over him-no way is she going to fall for his charms.

Foley might look like a bad idea, but underneath, he's all gentleman. Too bad Cyn's not buying it. What's a bad boy to do when the goddess of his dreams won't give him the time of day?

Harte continues her Seattle-based Body Shop Bad Boys series (after Test Drive) with a couple who look intimidating on the outside but have awkwardness, vulnerability, and a great love for their families within. Statuesque redhead Cynthia Nichols, a coffee-shop owner, turns down the initial advances of huge, muscular, tattooed Foley Sanders from Webster’s Garage because she’s taking a break from men—but she gives in to pursuing a friendship that slides into sexual flirtation. Harte has a good feel for playful, outrageous banter as the Webster’s Garage mechanics talk trash to one another and both Cyn and Foley get teased heavily by friends and family for the affection that’s obvious under their pretense of casualness. However, Cyn’s anxiety about her attractiveness compared to the thin models Foley usually dates and Cyn’s mother’s harangues about her daughter’s weight take up too much space in the narrative, in a heavy-handed attempt to include a body-acceptance message. Loved it! My favorite book by Marie Harte so far...

Cyn is not your average cookie cutter besotted optimist. She's a real woman. Not a size 0 waiting to be rescued, but a ball buster with a sassy attitude, foibles that are easy to relate to and a need for acceptance that she protects fearlessly behind her bigger than life personality. Foley is the yin to her yang. He sees behind the shield and doesn't judge or tear down but helps her see the beauty she hides within. Roadside Assistance left me completely tongue - tied. Marie Harte gives the ultimate dream with her bad boys with big hearts and rough exteriors. Her message is clear: Inner beauty outweighs outer camouflage. Well played. Much needed reality check message.

Roadside Assistance continues the Body shop series with the story of Foley and Cynthia. Foley is your typical reformed bad boy. He is loud in your face, and generally a lovable jerk. He is loyal to his friends, a steady employee, and in general a love em and leave em type. When Cynthia, the owner of the coffee shop down the street, enters Webster's Garage to complain about Parking, Foley is immediately smitten but handles things poorly. He begins to pursue her and Cyn is done with dating. She holds out as long as she can, but eventually Cyn caves and agrees to date Foley. Fun ensues and before you know it, Foley and Cyn are in a relationship that is beneficial for all. I enjoyed how fun this book and appreciated the balance between sweet and heat. I loved both main characters and found myself cheering for their happy ending. Overall if your a fan of reformed bad boys with hearts of gold this book is for you. I was given a free copy for a honest review.

One look at Foley Sanders and Cynthia Nichols knows he is the epitome of trouble... bad boy good looks, tattoos, and a smile she is sure has charmed many woman right out of the clothes. But as much as she realizes he isn't what she needs in her life, she can't seem to ignore his bad boy charm, and it irks her to no end. She hasn't had the best of luck with men, and the last one to come into her life left her scarred and filled with self doubt, and she struggles everyday to overcome the damaged that has been done. Being a curvy girl sometimes draws the wrong kind of attention, and also opens the door for the insecurities to seep in, and causes her to constantly doubt her looks. But for once in her life, someone else sees her curves as a blessing rather than a curse, and as much as she would like to believe that Foley likes her just the way she is, she can't help but worry that his intentions are not genuine. From the moment Foley Sanders meets Cynthia he is drawn to her, and he would nothing more than to be the man in her life, but she isn't on board with his little idea at all, and completely shuts him down when he asks for a date. But he is a determined man, and when he wants something he isn't opposed to fighting hard for it, so he decides to get clever and kick things up a notch... he wants a date and he is determined to get it. He soon realizes though that she is a wounded soul, filled with self doubt, and he wants to be the man to help erase it all from her life. He loves her curves, and isn't shy about letting her know, but he can see she is a little apprehensive about believing him... so he is just going to have to find a way to prove to her that is she is beautiful just the way she is... and screw what anybody else thinks!! I have been dying to get back to this series and get better acquainted with another one of Ms. Harte's Body Shop Bad Boys, and I have to say Foley was DEFINITELY worth the wait!! The minute he walked onto the page I knew my heart was in trouble, there is nothing like a bad boy with a heart of gold that is determined to get the girl, and will go to great lengths to prove he is worth the risk!! Foley and Cynthia pulled me into their world and had me instantly captivated and devouring the pages as fast as I could turn them... once I got started there was no stopping me! Their story was filled with heated banter, smoldering passion, heartfelt emotion, & scorching chemistry, which helped ignite some very hot encounters that had me feeling the flames and in dire need of a fan!! I think it is safe to say Ms. Harte has a bestseller on her hands with this one, definitely one of her best to date!! If you like your stories a little on the naughty side and equipped with a smooth talking bad boy who is dedicated to satisfying your every need, then look no further, Foley Sanders is DEFINITELY your man!! The Body Shop series focuses on the four ‘bad boys’ who work at Webster’s Garage – Johnny, Foley, Sam and Lou. They are all well built, handsome, hardworking men, some with more issues than others. Johnny got his happy ever after in Test Drive, and now it’s Foley’s turn in this one. He’s met his match in the fiery redhead Cyn who runs the café nearby the shop. This story is all about relationships. The family kind, the work kind, the romantic kind – they all get fairly equal page time. Cyn is a smart, university educated businesswoman, running a successful coffee shop. She is a six-foot-tall, voluptuous red-head whose fiery temper is matched by her no-nonsense attitude. She’s a prickly sort, a consequence of being raised in a volatile Italian family. She has a fractious relationship with her mother who always finds fault with her appearance. The men she’s dated have all wanted her to change for them too, and it’s left her decidedly wary of new relationships. Foley will have to convince her that he’s different if they are to have a chance at a long lasting relationship. Foley has a much more positive relationship with his mother who raised him as a single parent. He’s known among his friends as a guy they can count on, someone who will always be there to help them out. He takes his job seriously and prides himself in his work – it may not be brain surgery but he’s confident in his mechanical skills. There are several scenes involving the guys from the shop either at work, or socializing together. Their language is pretty much what one might expect from blue collar guys with badass reputations (deserved or not). Lots of swearing, lots of crude comments about sex, lots of joking around. It’s the type of conversation I expect and while it might not be to everyone’s tastes it feels true to their characters. Foley fits the part of the tough guy, in word and deed. He’s not above using his physical strength to protect someone, or make it clear that there will be consequences if someone he loves gets hurt. This applies to everyone in his life. The conflict in the story is minimal and comes mostly from the different interpersonal relationships and not from any external troubles. The story moves at a good pace with lots of dialogue and is really a snapshot into the daily lives of this interesting group of characters. With some sexy scenes and a couple who seem well matched, Roadside Assistance is an enjoyable and entertaining story.

4 1/2 STARS! Brawny, dirty talking bad boy meets sassy, give as good as she gets tough girl ... and mad chemistry ignites! Loving this series by Marie Harte. The guys in this garage are raunchy tough guys and I love it! Foley Sanders doesn't know what to think when sexy Cynthia Nichols comes in to Webster's Garage and tells him what for! He should be irritated that someone just copped such an attitude with him, but WOW, he just can't get over what a gorgeous spitfire she is! Cyn was having a bad day and that one more thing just pushed her over the top and she exploded. She really shouldn't have been so mean to Foley ... but he's just another man right? Foley can't put the enticing temptress out of his mind and decides he has to pursue her ... but she's not having it!

3.75 stars---ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE is the second installment in Marie Harte’s contemporary, adult BODY SHOP BAD BOYS erotic, romance series focusing on the mechanic’s at Webster’s Garage. This is mechanic Foley Sanders, and café owner Cynthia Nichols’s story line. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. BODY SHOP BAD BOYS is a spin off from Harte’s McCauley Brothers series but you do not have to have read the original series to follow the current time line. A number of the characters cross-over between the two series. Told from several third person perspectives ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE follows the building relationship between Foley and Cyn, and the fractured family dynamics for the Nichols and Sanders’s families. Foley is a tattooed, bad boy, and a man with a past. Cynthia is a plus size, independent business woman whose self-esteem and body image have been destroyed by her toxic mother leaving our heroine with a less than idealistic view of herself and the world. When her most recent relationship failed Cyn pledged to remain celibate for the rest of her life but a mechanic with a soft spot for Cyn, and a loving relationship with his own mother has pushed Cyn’s promise of celibacy to the side. What ensues is a relationship that quickly builds into something more that may be destroyed when Cyn is unable to overcome the emotional and psychological abuse, inflicted by her mother, that continues to the present day. The sexual attraction between Cyn and Foley is immediate but our heroine is reluctant to believe that Foley is interested in a plus size woman. Her self-esteem has been so badly damaged, that compliments and attention become fodder for arguments and fights. Foley has a protective streak when it comes to his family, and Cyn’s self-abasing attitude is difficult to overcome even for our story line hero. The $ex scenes are erotic, seductive and intense. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE has a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Foley’s best friend, roommate, fellow mechanic and ‘brother from another mother’ Sam whose life begins to spiral out of control when Foley becomes preoccupied with the new woman in his life. All of the mechanics at Webster’s Garage play an active role throughout the story. We are introduced to Foley’s mother Eileen, and her beau Jacob, as well as Cyn’s brother Matt and his wife Nina; Cyn’s long suffering father Vincent, and her mother Ella. The poisonous barbs and toxic relationship between Cyn and Ella make for plenty of uncomfortable moments. The world building continues to focus on the men and women at Webster’s Garage-their friendships, the camaraderie, relationships and love-there is plenty of humor and fun when the mechanics get together for a game of darts and a couple of beers. Cynthia Nichols’ low self esteem and negative body image is a constant theme running throughout the story, and for some readers the issues may hit too close to home but in the end our heroine finds the strength to take the first steps towards recovery and finding self worth. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE is a story about romance and love; family and friendships; letting go of the past and moving forward with your own life. The premise is emotional and impassioned but slow to build in the early stages of the book; the characters are colorful, animated and flawed; the romance is intimate and provocative. Marie Harte’s ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE is a welcome addition to her BODY SHOP BAD BOYS
