Overview

Since 1986, Roger Ebert's annual collection has been recognized as the preeminent source for full-length critical movie reviews.

The only film critic to win the Pulitzer Prize, Roger Ebert collects his reviews from the last 30 months in Roger Ebert's Movie Yearbook 2012. Forbes Magazine described Ebert as the "most powerful pundit in America." In January 2011, he and his wife, Chaz, launched Ebert Presents at the Movies, a weekly public television program in the tradition that he and Gene Siskel began 35 years earlier.

Since 1986, each edition of Roger Ebert's Movie Yearbook has presented full-length movie reviews, with interviews, essays, tributes, journal entries, and "Questions for the Movie Answer Man," and new entries in his popular Movie Glossary. Inside Roger Ebert's Movie Yearbook 2012, readers can expect to find every movie review Ebert has written from January 2009 to July 2011, including The Social Network, Waiting for Superman, Inception, The King's Speech, My Dog Tulip, The Human Centipede, and more. Also included in the Yearbook are:

* In-depth interviews with newsmakers and celebrities, such as John Waters and Justin Timberlake.

* Memorial tributes to those in the film industry who have passed away, such as Blake Edwards, Tony Curtis, and Arthur Penn.

* Essays on the Oscars and reports from the Cannes and Toronto Film Festivals.

    Quality never goes down

I get this movie yearbook every year, and the quality is always top-notch. Roger Ebert's lively writing style is always a pleasure, and his insight into movies makes viewing them more enjoyable. I highly recommend this series to any film buff.

    Great as ever!

Confused about something: some reviews are added (never published on the site near as I can tell; i.e. A SCREAMING MAN and HUGH HEFNER...) but meanwhile reviews of films such as VENGEANCE, COCO CHANEL & IGOR STRAVINSKY and ESSENTIAL KILLING are left out... What gives?!?

    Not as One Expected

Sorry, folks, but though I enjoyed Eberts' comments on tv, I found the book's organization awkward. It seems as though the reviews were taken from the tv scripts, and they don't read as well as if heard. A simpler, cleaner method of identifying individual programs, a cleaner font, general organization by genre, are a few things which would improve readability. Perhaps if I'd settle for a book to "just read", my opinion wouldn't be so harsh. But I wanted quick, easy access to information I'd want when I needed it- like "right now". This was not found, and the book went on the shelf, where it still lies ...

Needs a detailed table of contents with links.

Serves my purposes of reviewing films well except would benefit greatly from a title link to specific films instead. I just happen to be interested in reading this book cover to cover but doubt how most people would want to look at it.
