Overview

When a fleet of unmanned aerial drones disappears, the U.S. Vice President turns to Matt Garrett, still nursing the wounds he suffered in the Philippines. As Matt leaps into action, a terrorist commandeers Garrett's jet and a former Iraqi General with a startling link to Garrett's brother emerges from hiding. Matt discovers that international terrorists have kidnapped the world's leading expert on nanotechnology, who has enabled the missing Predators to locate, track, swarm, and kill...all by themselves. Meanwhile, the enemy has launched a flurry of attacks throughout America's heartland. The country is on edge as citizens wonder whether the terrorists have the capacity to deal a devastating blow with weapons of mass destruction. But Garrett is beginning to suspect that the true enemy may be all too close to home. A chilling tale of intrigue and power written by an author who has experienced combat up close, this is the story of a nation on the brink of chaos and a man about to uncover an unthinkable conspiracy.

Found this by accident but was glad I purchased it. Good military thriller. Characters pretty good overall, does tie into a previous work by the author(which I haven't read) that would have filled in some of the characters background & the story's background, but still able to stand alone, and be a very good read. Would recommend, will read other books from the author.

Wow, this book really impressed me. A.J.Tata is such a talent, and you can see why so many readers have given him 5 star ratings for his books. There are plenty of twist and turns in this story, and I enjoyed the complexity of it. This is certainly a book you can immerse yourself in. Matt Garrett is haunted by his Brother Zach’s death in the Philippines. Especially after Zach saved Matt’s life when he was stabbed and almost over run by enemy forces. Even though Matt was recovering in hospital when Zach was killed, it still hurts him deeply that he wasn’t there for his brother. The Vice President has asked Matt to investigate a number of missing aerial drones, which he believes Jacques Ballantine maybe involved in. Jacques is an ex-general from Saddam Hussein’s Republican Guard. Who is now living in Canada running a fishing guide service, and the US believes he doing a lot more than just that. What Matt doesn’t realise is that Jacques would like to seek revenge on him as pay back for Zach killing his brother in the first Iraq war. The US is no doubt kicking itself for handing over Jacques in a prisoner exchange after the war, as they now believe he is the mastermind behind the recent terrorist attacks in Minnesota, New Jersey and Charlotte. In a well-orchestrated series of bombings, a lot of Americans lost their lives. The President would like Jacques eliminated and Colonel Jack Rampart believes he has the right man for the job. Colonel Rampart has a secret Special Forces operator who has been recovering after almost being killed. He was in a coma, and since coming out of it, and training at such a high level he’s become one of the most elite fighting men the Colonel has seen. Since coming out of the coma he can’t remember his past, and they truly believe he can pull this operation off, before Jacques creates anymore terror on the US. If you enjoy Action Thrillers then you will love this book.

While the plot is no where near plausible the fast paced action almost made up for it. In these scary times this story makes you wonder where we r headed
