Two years ago, she had the world in the palm of her hand, but in one moment, it was ruined. Secrets, lies, and the worst imaginable betrayal haunt her new reality. Burying her problems under a cold façade seems to be the only way to cope until it all catches up with her. Soon, she loses control of the lonely world she built around her, and the past, present, and future collide.

Three guys are there when it all comes crashing down: JT, the perfect boyfriend she never wanted to give up; Rhye, the local bad boy "rock star" who made her forget the past; and Kane, the funny and sweet tattooed bartender who wants her future.

Secrets must be kept. Choices must be made. Is it possible to move forward while still chained to the wicked vices of the past?

    more from this reviewer

I honestly don't know what to write here. I'm numb. I'm confus

I honestly don't know what to write here. I'm numb. I'm confused. I'm shocked. I have never read a book that left me feeling like I do right now. I have never read a book with an ending like the ending I got with Ruining Me. I just don't know what to write about this book!

Did I love it? Yes...and no. There are secrets, lies, mystery, betrayals. Fear, loathing, angst, hatred...I felt it all. I was sick to my stomach. I couldn't hide this away, because I just kept seeing it coming. I didn't love the beginning, but the journey to the ending held a lot of angst for me. Jay's dreams were surreal and terrifying, but made so much sense when I got close to the end...and the ending! I never expected that ending! This book touches on quite a few subjects that are all so real, yet we tend to deny that they exist sometimes, or we think they don't exist within our bubble, but that doesn't make them any less real.

I won't give you a synopsis, because I'm too afraid I will spoil it for you. However, this book gives us so much to "think" about. Hopefully the "thinking" will spar you...and me...into action when the time is warranted.

I don't know what's best for someone else, yet I know that sometimes I pretend that I do...especially those I love. If you love someone, make the most of that time, instead of pushing them away. Savor any and all moments with friends and loved ones. Speak...DO NOT remain silent! Comfort cannot be found in sex, drugs, or alcohol. <=== Those are the messages I took from this story. Kudos to Nicole Reed for bringing such horrid truths and realities to the surface.

I will say that you have to stick with the story to get to the end. There are quite a few angst moments, and I did let out a few Holy #$%@!'s from time to time. There are also a few cheesy and far fetched moments in the dialogue, but those didn't take away from the story. I am still numb, and I'm not sure that I won't be haunted by the ending. I can only scream to the author, "Which path?!" along with begging for a sequel so I might have closure or resolution.

    Wow

I wasn't going to read this book, because my daughter took her own life in 2010, but something drew me to both books. My words have left me except for what an amazing job the author did describing the good, bad, and the really uglies in life. Thank you for not sugar coating what happens in life and also directing people to suicide prevention hotline, which is 1(800)273-TALK.

After reading "Taking Chances" I was looking for anoth

After reading "Taking Chances" I was looking for another good book and this one by far exceeded everything I was looking for. It has love, loss, regret, and scars. It shows how some teens, and adults for that matter, function with heartbreak and everyday life. Really one of the best books I have ever read. Can't wait for the sequel!!

    What was i thinking?

I read tons of reviews before i decided to buy this book. I thought it'd be great because of the reviews, but boy was i disappointed! I honestly have to say that i wish i hadn't spent the money on this book. I'll admit, some of the book was okay, but there was so much wrong with it. There are so many grammatical errors, it's honestly annoying. The pages went up by 3 instead of 1, which made it seem like pieces were missing. The author didn't even explain what happened to Jay until the end, which left you guessing, but the writing was all over the place that i eventually gave up guessing. And lastly, i thought the writing style was very amatuer. I thought a little kid could have written it better. I am sorry to say thag i won't buy anything from this author again.

    Worth the read

Raw & emotional. Should be for more mature teens due to the graphic subject matter (which is obvious even though one reviewer said they couldn't figure it out until the end when it was spelled out for them.) Cliff hanger at the end so i imagine there will be another book. Well worth the money.

I have to say that I could not finish this book. There are so many reasons. I will attempt to explain them succinctly.

This is a bare bones of a story. The little story that could be. It is full of potential, but the characters are at best generic and at worst, unlikeable. All the male characters, even though they are supposed to be different, have the exact same personality. Her friends are generic.

There are so many aspects of the plot that are unbelievable. First of all, that the main character is a high school student, who basically whores around, uses a fake ID, and does whatever she wants. Inappropriate for the target audience, which would be high school students. Also, two years after this event happens (I won't say what it is), and she hasn't talked to any of her friends or her ex-boyfriend, who incredibly unrealistically still has a thing for her. TWO YEARS LATER? C'mon people! And those two friends she abandoned, well they just decide to let bygones be bygones and take her right back, for no apparent reason at all. The relationship Jay has with this Kane character has absolutely no basis. They don't have any emotional connection, he speaks to her in a way that most people wouldn't find remotely attractive, yet she has known him for a week and she is "in love" with him. Sorry, I just can't buy it. Don't write a story until you have all the details. The writing style leaves much to be desired; raging grammatical errors. Absolutely no plot development. Completely shallow. I am angry I spent a dollar on this.

Unique storyline...self destructive and self absorbed main character...despite that you cant help but feel her pain and want her to fight back.

Great book, but sad at the end

This book was amazing. The characters were well thought out, and the book was about things that could really happen to teenagers in life. I was so sad when J.T. died in the book.
