Rebellious Scarlett still has not gotten over her father's cheating and her parents' divorce. When she gets thrown out of yet another school, her mother sends her from London to the Irish countryside to live with her father, his pregnant wife and her stepmother's nine-year-old daughter. Scarlett begs her mother, "Don't make me do it," but in her new home, she finds space-both from her family and in the enchanting surroundings-to start letting go of her anger. She also makes a connection with a mysterious boy, Kian, whom she meets by the lough, riding bareback. Kian tells her about a wishing tree, where people "leave offerings, ask for favors." Cassidy (Indigo Blue) weaves in some lovely images, such as Scarlett's ripping up her old red clothes as ribbons to tie all over the wishing tree for her new baby sister. This fast-paced story follows Scarlett's difficult adjustment to her new surroundings and family (which will soon include a new baby) as she rebels in typical teenage fashion by piercing her tongue, dying her hair red and being an obstinate vegetarian. Set in the rural countryside of Kilimoor, near Lough Choill, which boasts the magical Wishing Tree, Scarlett soon meets Kian, a boy of her own age, and his horse Midnight. Meet the Author

Cathy Cassidy has been writing ever since she can remember. She went to art school in Liverpool, England, before getting a job as fiction editor at a British teen mag–where she loved every minute of it! Later, she got married and had a big party with fireworks and a chocolate wedding cake, before switching careers to become an art teacher. Several years and two children later, a friend talked Cathy into finishing a children's novel she'd started... and this is the result!

Cathy lives in south-west Scotland with her husband Liam, two children, three cats, two rabbits, and a skinny, hairy dog named Kelpie, who was the model for Leggit in Dizzy.     GREAT BOOK

    I read many of Cathy Cassidys books before I got a Nook, and I am so glad they are avaliable in the Nook Store! I definitley love this book, and if you also liked it you should read other Cathy Cassidy books.

    I LOVE this book!

    This is one of my favorite books! I read it for hours every day. I think this book is great for girls 10 and up. This book will NOT disapoint you.

    I know a better book to read

    Hard to Decide.......

    Well I want a short book so I can finish it before school starts. But, I don't know if it's my kind of story. My usual book would be a suspence or mystery. But it could be a good change, so i can have a bigger selection of books. Any sugestions?

    "The great book of just for fun reading!"

    This book is fabulous for reading just for fun. This book has a girl named Scarlett who always gets in trouble so she gets sent to her dad's house with a stepsister(s) and a stepmother. She thinks this will be the worst choice ever, but she thinks it's pretty cool with home-schooling and meeting this boy with a horse named Kian. Kian is wonderful to Scarlett and she begans to open her heart with happiness instead of getting into trouble and having a bad black heart.

    Something short to relax with

    honestly, this book is good but for some reason, i dont find it very memorable. i read it once but had to read it again to remember what it was about. it was a good book while our reading it but its not something that really stands out like twilight by stephenie meyer. it a sweet little book that fades into the backround, but that doesn't mean its good to overlook it, its more meaningful then alot of the kids and teen stuff out there, and yet at the same time more of fun airy read for when you want to relax and go to the beach or something. its hard to explain but bottom line is: its worth your time. the books in the i also recommend spot are the most normal books that i could find that i've read because this book is pretty normal so if your into this book then i assume ur into normal things but that was kind of hard to do because i like books that have some sort of magic in them and i also like mystery books and books about vampires and books about teen spies so lol but i still think that if you enjoyed this book you might enjoy the books i have put in the i also recommend spot :-)

    This is such an amazing book! It is the first Cathy Cassidy book I have ever read, and I know I want to read her other ones. On the very first night I started reading it, I got to page 92! I am now almost done, and it is one of the best I have ever read.

    One of the best books ever!

    Scarlett is such a good book filled with family,self-discovery, and love. I loved the relationship between Scarlett and Kian. Although i couldn't relate much because i'm not much of a rebel like Scarlett, i could relate in many other ways. It's a good book for girls 11-14. YOU HAVE TO READ IT!!!!!!!1
