Black Meadow Pack Book One

Only the hottest sex can cool a wolf in heat...

After her sister is bitten by a werewolf, geneticist Sophia Reece begins researching shape-shifters and isolates a gene she calls Furry Beast--FB for short. But in her excitement over her discovery--dancing in the lab is never a good idea--she has a teeny little accident with the samples, one canine, one feline, and winds up landing on the syringes, pointy side up.

Werewolf Chase is head over heels in lust with Sophia. He can't stop thinking about the human's sexy body or how badly he wants to get her naked. But she acts as if he has fleas. So why, all of a sudden, does she stare at him like a wolf in heat? And what smells like cat?

When she experiences her first mating heat, Sophia isn't prepared for the new feelings she's experiencing, and her secret desire for Chase refuses to remain under wraps. For Chase, this is his wildest fantasy come true--to finally get his hands on the curvy, caramel-skinned Latina. But when some serious predators come sniffing around her research, Sophia will have to find out what she's really made of, and Chase will have to decide if he's man--or wolf--enough to make things permanent...

Meet the Author

Milly Taiden was born in the prettiest part of the Caribbean known as the Dominican Republic. She grew up between New York, Florida, and Massachusetts. Currently, she resides in New York City with her husband, bossy young son, and their little dog Speedy.
She began writing when she learned to put words together and her first book consisted of two homeless dogs living in a park for her second grade English class. She didn’t win a prize, but she acquired a love for writing that never went away.

When she’s not working full-time, texting with her best friend Heidi in England, chastising her son for pulling the dog’s ears, shopping with her sister Jewel, or watching scary movies with her husband, she can be found writing on her laptop. She’s addicted to shoe shopping, chocolate, Dunkin Donuts coffee, and all Jimmy Thomas covers.

A major reader when she can get her hands on a good book, she loves reading all Mina Carter, Cynthia Eden, Cynthia Sax, Dianne Duvall, and Laurann Dohner among others.

Sophia's sister was bitten and turned into a wolf shifter by a rouge wolf. She has found her mate and seems happy. But Sophia wants her to have a choice. So she has been secretly working on a cure. Sophia used two different samples during her research. Feline shifter DNA and Wolf Shifter DNA. She has an accident in her lab and sticks herself with both needles. The next day strange things start happening. Then she runs into Chase at her sisters house. She becomes tongue tied when he is around so she always just walks away. But now Chase seems very interested in her and she just can't understand.

Chase has had a thing for Sophia since he has met her. His wolf recognizes her as his mate but he has not claimed her because she does not seem to like him. Every time she see's him she leaves the room. When she comes over her sisters for a barbeque he is extremely drawn to her. And he can see some differences and he smells both animals in her and the fact that she is in heat. He can't stop himself now. He will have her. But he also needs to keep her safe. What she has been working on it will put her in danger.

Loved it! I love Chase and Sophia. They are probably one of my favorite couples out the books of Milly's that I have read so far. Sophia is a major brain and I love that Chase loves that about her. This is another book with steamy sex scenes. You can't go wrong with that! I highly recommend and I will definitely be re reading this book.

Sharp Change by Milly Taiden is the first book in her Black Meadow Pack series. Each book can be read as a stand alone book.  In Sharp Change, scientist Sophia Reece tries to cure her sister of her lycanthropy but instead accidentally infects herself.

I really enjoyed this shifter romance...so much so that I have read it several times since buying it last year.  The alpha werewolf was hot, hot, hot. The story line was unique and interesting. Highly recommend!

Super Sexy Alpha and the Geek!

Milly Taiden always provides readers with HOT, SEXY, Alpha wolves that will melt not only your panties, but your heart too!

It’s also reassuring to find that not all Alphas want skinny, supermodel women, but a real package. A woman, who not only stirs their blood, but has an abundance of curves that he can hold onto through the night!

Add to that, a scientific mind and a heart of gold, and this Alpha wolf doesn’t stand a chance!

But will her experiments cement their bond, or tear them apart when others decide that she is too valuable to be free.

I hope there are many more books to come in this series, as I see so much potential in the supporting characters.

Hot Shifter Story. This hot shifter story was a quick, fun, and HOT (did I say hot yet) read! Sophia is a geeky scientist who is searching for the cure for shifters. She finds it at the beginning of the story and during her klutzy happy dance she accidentally injects herself with wolf and cat shifter DNA, but just a little. Assuming nothing will come of the minute amounts she just decides to head home, she is tired after burning the candle at both ends to find the cure. When she wakes up Sunday (two days later) and almost late for her sister barbeque she suspects something may be wrong. Her first clue was her two neighbors who were instantly attracted to her - this didn't usually happen as she was just a little to short and pudgy for most men. Next she noticed she didn't need her glasses anymore. Without worrying too much she rushed off to her sister's house where her new brother in law and his brother (the alpha of the pack) were waiting for her. She had always been attracted to Chase (the alpha of the Black Meadow pack), but again her short and pudgy body and her geeky mind made her extremely nervous around him. What she doesn't know is that he can't keep his eyes off her. He thinks she is petite, curvy, and support smart and loves that she doesn't throw herself at him like all the other women. Check out Sharp Change to see if Sophia gets over her shyness. This is one hot book, don't pass it up. P.S. thanks to Milly for not making the hero a stick thin Barbie doll! Love reading about those who better match my body style!

Sharp Change had me hooked from page one! I loved that Sophia's body image in her mind and in Chases mind were so different. I love the twist on Shifters, I cant wait to see what happens with Sophia, how does she handle the two alpha female animals. How does Chase deal with everything. I loved this book and can not wait for more. I read it in two hours.

    more from this reviewer

    Great debut novel!

Our heroine is a verifiable genius who has finally managed to isolate the genetic code that controls shifting. This is great. Her sister who was changed by a rogue after an attack should be thrilled. Except that she’s perfectly happy as a werewolf shifter with her new mate. Sophia proves to all that no one is infallible, not even geniuses. This brilliant scientist is so exhausted from working tirelessly that she causes a huge calamity at the lab and inadvertently injects herself with not one, but two, shifter DNA sequences causing herself to accidentally be infected. Chase, alpha of the Black Meadow Pack, knows Sophia is his mate. He can’t get near her without wanting her. But how do you convince a woman who won’t even be in the same room with you that you’re destined to be together forever? This is his dilemma until the day Sophia has her accident. Chase practically pounces on the chance to finally have what he wants.
This debut novel by paranormal author, Milly Taiden, is hot with a capital H! With such a strong start, I worried that it would not carry through to the rest of the book. Obviously my worries were unfounded. With characters so well rounded and descriptions so crisp that I couldn’t help but picture it in my mind’s eye, I found it hard to put Sharp Change down. I was engrossed in the first chapter and before I realized it, it was 2am, my eyes were burning from staring at my e-reader for hours and I had finished the entire book.
There is a certain deep sense of humor in Sharp Change that I can only assume comes from the author herself and infuses the characters and whole chapters. I spent several hours alternately chuckling and fanning myself. A comedy of errors brings these two together and I couldn’t be happier. Milly Taiden and her characters have officially earned a spot on my To Read list.

Building up this story... but it ends where there was so much room for more
I need to know that happens next
It built up to be so complicated that by the end you feel blindsided, it cuts off so abruptly

    Please,
Sequel. Epilogue. Something for a little bit of closure.

Deserves all the stars in the sky...

This book deserves all the stars in the sky, but since Barnes and Noble only allows 5, I guess it will have to do. First of all, people always say something was unbelieveable when they enjoy it, but in the case of this book, I am going to say it was so well written and entertaining that it was believeable. I could imagine this happening in real life. Some authors have a way of writing dialogue that makes you feel like you are witnessing the conversation in real life and this author has that talent. I really enjoyed the concept of this book. The mix of wolf and cat in Sophia was so intraditional that it sets this book apart from other werewolf novels. While the sex scenes came very quickly- which the author gets away with because they are not only having sex, but rather mating- I have no complaints about this book.

There was a lot I enjoyed from this story, with a few things that bothered me just a tad.  First, this is book one in the series, but there were several times throughout particularly the first half of the book that I felt like I had missed a story and that was a little distracting.  I also thought there were some unanswered questions in the end and that it happened a little too quickly; I think it could have benefited from an epilogue.

The world building was very good, giving relevant information without anything extraneous to overwhelm the reader.  There are hints to more in that world which is cool, because it leaves the door open for future installments to go anywhere.  There was really only one thing that stood out to me as a little implausible – the ability to scent the gender of an unborn child within the first couple weeks of pregnancy.

As for the characters, all were great.  Julia is Sophia’s sister and mated to River, Chase’s brother.  They were cute together, even if Julia was a little dramatic.  I absolutely adored Chase and Sophia is fun, but I did feel that as smart as Sophia was, she should have been able to figure a couple things out prior to having to be told.

The love scenes are explicit and hot and do not lose intensity throughout the story, which is always nice.  I’ve come to enjoy this author’s work and this one did not disappoint.

Sharp Change is an exciting story with compelling characters.  If you’re looking for a very sexy romantic suspense, I definitely recommend it!

    erotic and humorous

I was so excited to receive this book and after reading it I am even more excited to share my thoughts about it. For a novella, around 35000+ words, it had more impact and substance than some of the recent full-length novels I’ve read. This is my first books by this author, but I can’t wait to more by her.

Her scenes between Chase & Sophia are both erotic and humorous.

The publisher, Etopia Press, provided this e-book to me free of charge for the sole purpose of an honest review. All thoughts, comments, and ratings are my own.

The first chapter had me laughing so hard that my kids thought I was losing it.

After reading several reviews and excerpts from Sharp Change, I couldn’t wait any longer and finally just grabbed it. I am so glad I did. The first chapter had me laughing so hard that my kids thought I was losing it. I love romance novels that have comedic relief. Let’s just say that Sophia is full of humor.

The story starts with Sophia finding the exact strand of DNA that makes a shifter a shifter. Her sister Julia was attacked by a rogue wolf and she wanted to give her options, even if her sister was mated. The laughs start right away with her “furry beast” and her FBA. I loved her. She is a strong and sassy heroine.

Chase is the Alpha of his pack. His brother is mated to Sophia’s sister Julia. He is extremely attracted to Julia, but thinks she can’t stand the sight of him. These two are the cutest couple and have the hottest time in the bedroom.

I really liked this story. The only thing I didn’t like is that it seemed like everything was rushed. I really wish the story was longer. I will definitely be reading the next book in this series and I hope it will be longer.
