Overview

When Dana is invited to Faerie to be officially presented at the Seelie Court, it’s no easy decision. After all, everyone knows Titania, the Seelie Queen, wants her dead. But Titania claims not to be the one behind the death threats; and her son, Prince Henry, makes the decision a whole lot easier when he suggests Dana might be arrested for (supposedly) conspiring with her aunt Grace to usurp the Seelie throne. So she and her father better do as they're told . . .

The journey through Faerie is long—and treacherous. Dana thought it would be a good idea to have friends along, but her sort-of-boyfriend, Ethan, and her bodyguard’s son, Keane, just can’t seem to get along, and Kimber’s crush on Keane isn’t making things any easier. When a violent attack separates Dana from their caravan, the sexy Erlking saves her just in the nick of time . . . and makes it clear that he hasn’t given up on making her his own.

Arriving at Titania’s beautiful palace should be a relief. But Dana is soon implicated in an assassination attempt against Titania’s granddaughter, and is suddenly a fugitive, forced to leave her father behind as she and her friends flee for their lives. Will she be able to prove her innocence before the forces of the Seelie Court—or, worse, the Erlking—catch up with her? And will she save her father before he pays the ultimate price in her stead?

Editorial Reviews

Kirkus Reviews

At last, Dana meets a Fae boy who doesn't want to sleep with her in this third in the Faeriewalker series, which began with Glimmerglass (2010).

Nasty Prince Henry of the Seelie Court has come to Avalon, the city caught between the human realm and Faerie, to invite half-human Dana to be formally presented at Court. Dana and her father are sure there's a deeper game at play—don't both Fae queens want Dana dead because of her dangerous Faeriewalker powers?—but she has no choice but to obey the summons. The journey from the incongruously modern Avalon (why do Faeries celebrate Christmas?) to the Seelie Court is chock-full of all the necessary adventures, from monster attacks to opportunities for heroic self-sacrifice. Dana finally exercises both her magical powers and her intelligence in order to help herself and her friends. And of course, there's plenty of opportunity for chest thumping among her various suitors. Dana's youthful narrative style can be disconcertingly at odds with the steaminess she describes ("I was smushed up against him... [and] painfully aware that he, uh, enjoyed having me there"); this realistic teen heroine has an occasionally bumpy meeting with romance conventions. But Dana's grim-but-hopeful interactions with her alcoholic mother ground this urban fantasy in a welcome verisimilitude.

A previously passive heroine begins to see her capacity for becoming a powerbroker. (Paranormal romance. 13-15)

Fabulous Continuation of a great story!

Sirensong is the Thursday book in the Faeriewalker series by Jenna Black.

At first we got a glimmer, then a shadow and now we find song in this amazing series. I fell in love with Glimmerglass and its characters have developed so well throughout these three books.

In Sirensong we find Dana marked by the Erlking and trying to move on with her life even we there are so many oppositions lining up. The life of a Faeriewalker, a few in kind person who can move themselves and objects between our world and Faery are rare, but it seems everyone wants a walker in their pocket to continue their evil plans.

Dana is in a new conundrum: she has to travel to the Seelie court and be introduced to the Queen, and with her luck and enemies anything can happen. With so many forces against Dana, what is a girl to do with everything that is piling up? Dana still has to hold back due to the bargain with the Erlking and its effects on her relationship with Ethan, and then her family troubles with her mother and her fathers status, Dana has a it in store for her in Sirensong.

Jenna Black builds an amazing world and reality for the characters in the Faeriewalker series. I live the inner dialog of Dana, and the struggles she has faced. With so much power and yet such a personal moral code, Dana makes a beautiful, and strong character. Relationships can be made or broken when Dana's secrets become exposed and her friends are have to figure out what to do with Dana's powers and her connections.

Sirensong was an amazingly well written read that was composed of a great set of characters and fantastical world. Get lost in the pages and take a walk with the Faeriewalker.

    A standout read!

Finally Black takes us into Faerie! I've been waiting for this moment since the beginning of the series and couldn't have been more excited to finally see her vision play out. While I was hoping for a little more time spent at court, the overall journey was well worth the wait.

After the way things were left at the end of Shadowspell, I was on the edge of my seat even at page one to see where everything would go. With a zillion different ways Black could have rounded out this series, I think she did Dana and the rest of the gang justice.

Interesting twists and turns were laid out for Dana and Ethan, Keane and Kimber, the Erl King, and just about everyone else. While I enjoyed how Black pieced everything together, I'll admit to being a little sad throughout the majority of this edition. I knew in the back of my head that it was all coming to an end. Goodbyes would be said to these unique characters, wonderful settings and dynamic situations. It may have affected me more than I anticipated while reading this time.

Glimmerglass still stands out for me as the "best" of this series, but Sirensong was a fast and entertaining end to a fun series. And hey, the infamous hot posset made a final appearance, and I admit I was half tempted to whip myself one up to enjoy right along with Dana and Kimber. If you're a fan of this series, you'll no doubt be picking up a copy of Sirensong for yourself, regardless of this review, but I do think you'll enjoy it.

After i got past the 1st couple of chapters I couldn't put it down!

The book start out w/ a lot of whining and complaining from the main character... petty things like idw to wear a dress idw to fo to the party idw to go to faerie my mom drinks... i almost stopped reading it all together after a week away from Dana's incessant moaning I came back and it was well worth it great action and not too predictible solutions to problems... i hope it's not the last book b/c i def see a future w/ how it left off!!! :)

Not as good as previous 2

I loved the first one.... 2nd one was ok... not a fan of this one. To much crying over things she cant control. Was like Jenns Black was searching for more words just to lengthen it up and added alot of "crying over spilt milk" to do the job....

Great read, but ending leaves you a bit...

Sirensong is the last installment in the Faeriewalker Trilogy. The book starts much in the same way as Glimmerglass and Shadowspell: With Dana's complaining. If you have read Glimmerglass and Shadowspell (which I shall assume you did, as this IS a series), then you're probably used to the little "hills" that are Dana's moody fits, if you will; you make your way slowly over them or just go around them and keep on chuggin'. Aside from that, the only real complaint I held for the novel was the way it all ended. I was left with a feeling of "This is the end?" and just shrugged it off. It wasn't spectacular, but it was a reasonable close to the last book of the Faeriewalker Trilogy.

And to clear up something that seems to have confused at least one person... No modern day book could hold claims over the Seelie Court. From a few seconds on my favorite search engine, I could tell you that it seems Scotland is to take credit for its origin.

    Alright

I felt like the ending was too happy. Dont get me wrong I love happy endings but it seemed to easy of an ending for all of Dannas troubles I felt like the ending didnt really tie up the series. At the end I thought thats all? She freaked out and in the end there was an easy way out. The othet issue I had was that Dana became more whiney in this one and started complaining more about her life. That was slightly annoying. It took me forever to finish it.

Great 3rd book in the series!

I enjoyed reading Sirensong. The first 2 books were good in the series but this one was definetly the best one. The characters have developed, secrets are revealed, plans played out, and we finally get to see the world of Faerie. While I did enjoy this book, it kind of ended like it may be the last of the series. I think that Ms. Black can add more to this series and can take it in many other directions if she chooses to. (I hope she does. I would love to see more in this series!) With this being said, I read a few reviews that said it had a very PG kind of ending and they are right. I wish Ms. Black would have taken a darker kind of ending and I wish that Dana would have been with the Erkling more. After the last book I was so ready to read more about him and while he was in this book, I wished there were more heat or passion or romance between him and Dana. It is a very "PG", happy ending, but I can't help but wish that maybe there will be more in this series.
