I read this book when I was a young child, and it evoked such magnificent imagery that I have never forgotten it. It is a great tale for young children to read because it inspires a sense of adventure, rooted in the wisdom of the bushman. It is an easy read, for any child over the age of 8 years. It was made into a movie by Disney, but I would not recommend the movie as it was LOOSLY co-based upon this book and another.

I read this book at the age of twelve and it has stuck with me ever since. It is wonderfully phrased and and put in the simplest possible way. It is most definatlety- and I do not say this lightly- one of my favorite books and it comes highly recommended.

It is a difficult book to read mid highschool level; the content is complicated, and the author uses many proverbs of bush man.
