Horrible things move through the shadows of our world—bloodsuckers, Full Bloods and mongrel beasts, shapeshifters and minor freaks. For centuries creature hunters known as Skinners have protected humankind. But who protects the Skinners . . . from madness?

Unbeknownst to the human population, a pestilence is raging through an unseen community of low-level monstrosities. What seems, at first glance, a boon for the mortal cause has horrific connotations—as the Skinner team of Cole Warnecki and Paige Strobel races across the Midwest to uncover the shocking secret of the “Mud Flu.” For a nightmare of destruction and blood sacrifice is looming—one born of an unholy meeting nearly two centuries ago—that will pit man against beast, and Skinner against Skinner.

Meet the Author

Marcus Pelegrimas graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in Criminal Justice as research to become a maniacal super villain. When too many of his plans were thwarted, he went back to his first love: writing. He is also an active member of the Nevermore Paranormal ghost-hunting group. That one worked out much better than the world domination thing.

    Thoroughly enjoyed!

This saga just keeps getting better and better. New monsters, creatures, characters, and complications added to a vivid world and two captivating main characters (Cole & Paige) make for a spectacularly gruesome and engaging read.

    Wow...all there is to it!!

So not only did the Skinners series shake the foundation of vampire/werewolf lore but it took it in an entire new direction....that I LOVE!!! This series has been fantastic from the start and with each installment in the series I feel that it just continues to amaze, astound, scare, and at times make me bite my nails as I read them. Marcus has once again proven that he is the master of his craft. New characters are added to the mix and the ones we still love grow and mature along with the series. I could not put this book down until I'd read the last page and even then I asked "Where's the next one?"
All I can say is that I cannot....repeat, cannot wait for the fourth one to come out.

    Best yet of the series

This is the best book yet of the series. Great amounts of action, mystery, and exploration (of the possibilites of this particular universe). It was well written and aside from a few sappy (crappy) romance pages I really can't find any major flaw with this book. At the end I would have prefered a slightly more definative "beat down", but on that front I admit I am hard to please. I don't particularly like where the story is headed after the final ending of this book but that will be sorted out in later books in the series. This one though is an excellent read.

One of the best books I have read to date

If you like vampires and/or werewolves the Skinners series is for you. With the new take on the vampire werewolf lore, it's a great series to add to your collection.

    Wow!

This was an incredible addition to the Skinners series! I could not put it down once I started reading it, and that's not something that happens often for me. This one is full of twists and turns that are just completely unexpected, I can't wait for the next book to come out.

    Third in series delivers

The Skinner Series is one that keeps me coming back for more. The third installment delivered once again. I really enjoy all of the new characters/creatures that keep popping up and I look forward to those yet to come. Some of them are "old" creatures with a new spin on them which is interesting. I have recommended this series to several of my friends who are fans of the never ending vampire versus werewolf struggle. I think whether a vampire fan or a werewolf fan there is entertainment and enjoyment to be found in this read. Now I am just waiting for book 4 in October!

    Nide Addition To Series

ok if you are a fan of the skinners series then this is a deffinite must have. it have action, drama, suspense, betrayals, back info, henry, cole, paige, 2 new skinners not met before, the nymphs(love em), magic, and triumph. this book takes you in alot of directions fast and once you start it you will have some difficulty putting it down. this is not the best book i have read this year, but it was one that i couldn't put down because it came at me so fast i keep saying ok one more chapter.

if you have been waiting on cole to make his move and actually get somewhere with paige you don't wanna miss this either. i've been rooting for the poor nerdy game designer since book 1. i gave the book an overall 5* just because i liked the series already and was already wanting to read it more than the average person, but if i didn't already know about the series it would still be a 4* in my eyes.

    I Also Recommend:

    Exciting And Cool

This Skinners series by Pelegrimas is cool, compelling and completely entertaining. The protagonist, (named Cole), is a designer of computer games and "Skinner" warrior who utilizes his fighting abilities, materials (including skins) salvaged from defeated creatures and blood magick'd weapons to protect humanity from invincible Full Bloods, mutant half-breeds and the occasional rouge vamp and/or mongrel.

This latest installment complicates the conflict and expands the Skinner's world. After the last book I was expecting multiple violent showdowns, but I was pleasantly surprised by the mystery of the 'Pestilence'. There's still plenty of action, but the main ingredient in this book is the mystery of the Pestilence and the disembodied presence of the missing Full Blood Henry. Everything is interestingly turned around as a Full Blood becomes more benign and individual Skinners become questionable to manically evil.

The mystery of the 'Pestilence' begins with the arrival of a visibly ill Nymar at the door and his subsequent explosion in a wreath of black, undulating tendrils. Before dying, he warns of the "Pestilence" and then states that, "It will kill all of us." The mystery deepens as Henry's creepy voice begins to emanate from humans infected with the 'mud' flu and becomes riveting when Henry starts to possess 'mud' people causing free-for-all mob assaults. The tension and action keeps ramping up until the frenetic, action-packed climax is reached.

In addition, the main characters, (Cole and his skinner partner Paige), are brilliantly developed in this installment. Cole becomes a fully realized individual as he tires to favorably impress a female acquaintance and fails miserably. He's so fallible, funny and humanized that you just have to love him. And, Paige also develops into a real person. No longer the unapproachable taskmaster, she becomes emotionally accessible and sympathetic. Plus, she's pretty funny on occasion. The dialogue between Cole and Paige and other more intimate interactions are excellent altenating from witty to touching to invigorating to downright stimulating.

Furthermore, this latest book adds an entertaining new Skinner to the mix known as Rico (named after the Racketeering Act). The supes just keep developing in this series; and, the nymphs, (along with their A frame strip joint 'temples'), are quirky and imaginative.

I love this series and recommend it to anyone who enjoys dark urban action fantasy. Note, to fully appreciate this book the origin story (entitled "Blood Blade") and the sequel (entitled "Howling Legion") should probably be read first.
