With an agoraphobic mother and a barely-there father, Sang abhors the isolation keeping her in the shadows. The only thing Sang craves is a fresh start and to be accepted as ordinary by her peers, because for her being different meant being cast out alone.

When her family moves to a new school district, Sang infiltrates a group of boys nearly perfect in every way. Grateful for an influence outside of her parents’ negativity, she quickly bonds with the boys, hoping to blend in and learn from them what it means to have a natural relationship with friends.

Only the boys have secrets of their own and they’ll do anything to keep her safe from the knowledge of the mysterious Academy that they've sworn allegiance to. Bit by bit, Sang discovers that her friends are far from the normalcy she expected. Will her loyalty change when she's forced to remain in the dark, or will she accept that she's traded one house of secrets for another?

Meet Kota, Victor, Silas, Nathan, Gabriel, Luke and North in a story about differences and loyalty, truth and mystery, friendships and heart-throbbing intimacy.

The Academy, ever vigilant.

While I truly love this series, I think that people need to understand that this story does contain abuse and a whole lot of cursing. If things like that bother you, you should seriously think before reading this series. That being said, these books contain a spectacular story with lots of sweet moments that make you "awwwwww" outloud.

I am a 50 year old bookaholic. I am tired and frustrated. Frustrated becuse the next books in the series are not out yet and tired cuz I keep staying up late reading. I read A LOT of books and these have sucked me in. The characters are all "damaged" in some way yet strongly fight to get past it while helping their friends battle their demons and enemies. To me the romance seems normal and natural for these characters. Takes a lot to get 5 stars from me. I am going to read some more then take a nap.

As soon as I read this first book I was hooked. I picked up the rest of the series and finished all five books in a week. I love these boys and Sang and I want all seven of these boys in my life. Seriously, read these books - you'll be so glad you did :)

The title says it all. CL Stone has a wonderful way of introducing every main character. It will bring you in and leave you wanting more and to continue the story. There is abuse in this series so it is best for teens/adults to read. Introduction is the first book in the Ghost Bird series. You will want to read all the books in order.

It was definitely an introduction as the title promised. The author gives you enough to reel you in and leave you with enough questions to comeback for the next installment.

Introductions truly is an introduction to all of the characters in The Academy series.  The narrator, Sang, comes from an abusive home.   Her mother is a recluse and never leaves the house.  She lectures her two daughters about how dangerous the outside world is and forbids them from socializing with others outside of school.  A simple phone call from a potential friend does not go unpunished.   Her father is very withdrawn from the family and is nothing more than a provider from what I could tell in this book.  He goes to work every day and drives the girls to their high school registration, but that is about it. One evening Sang decides to spend an evening out on her own.  While on her way, a neighbor's dog knocks her down and causes some minor injuries.  That is how she meets Kota.  They will be attending the same school this upcoming year and are even in the same grade.  She quickly meets several of his friends and starts to develop real friendships for the first time in her life. Throughout the books she notices that these long time friends seem to communicate on a different level than most kids her age.  They are all very intelligent and appear to be holding back information.  She eventually learns that they are from a private school known as The Academy.  As part of a special project they will be attending the public school this year.  There are a lot of secrets the boys are not able to share with Sang before the end of the book.  We don't know what type of school The Academy really is, but we can certainly speculate.  Is it a school for spies like The Gallagher Girls?  Fortunately, I will not have to wait long to find out.  The next three books in the series are already available. I really enjoyed all of the characters in this series so far with the exception of Sang's parents of course.  I can't wait to find out more about The Academy and to hopefully see Sang come out of her protective shell.  She is still very shy and uncomfortable around others.  She is constantly questioning the intentions of even a simple friendly touch.  I'm sure Kota and the rest of the boys, who area already very protective of Sang, will be a very positive influence on her life.

I really loved the concept of this book. Abused girl finds friends and starts to learn what life is like outside of her own. It sounds like the start for an amazing book with a lot of depth, discovery, and emotional drama. Sadly I didn’t get my emotional drama in this book. I felt that the whole book was put in a monotone with maybe one or two instances of actual emotion. I kept waiting for the climax or the peak of the story, but that never happened either. This book has so much potential and it just failed to completely and fully work. Sang. I loved the character and the background story. I loved her attitude towards life and all her fears and anxieties. But I feel like the author failed to fully bring out all her emotions and display them throughout the book. This character, again, had so much potential. I should have been bawling through most of the book, instead I was calmly reading the story and nit getting any of the emotions I should have been experiencing along with Sang. The boys. I loved each of their characters and the personalities of each character. I felt that the author did a better job conveying their emotions than any of the others. Many ideas were presented with each of the guys and Sang as a couple but there was no follow through or even an hint of potential follow through. I was left hanging in the romance department with these guys. The three stars really goes toward the story line. The emotions and climax of the story really were a fail. But even with this being said I am really hoping the next book really brings it all together. So I will be looking for the next book in the story, I’m just not sure if I want to spend a lot of money on the next if it turns out to be like this one. Hopefully the next book will be getting a better review then this one. **** I receive this eARC from NetGalley.****

I enjoyed this book, even though it's aimed at a younger audience than me. I liked the characters. I liked the fact that there were things about them that I couldn't figure out yet. Looking forward to starting on the next one.

NOTHING like The Gallagher Girls series. Overly saccharine, naive, earnest, over-simplified, hard to believe, and utterly lacking in reason, explanation or justification for any of the major --or minor--plotpoints. Author badly needs a professional editor. And more writing classes.
