There was a little garden in front of the house, and the wife tended it carefully and grew herb. Vivien said, “I smelled thyme and lavender,” and for a moment she stood by the front gate and savored the mingling scent of the herb garden. I wrinkled my nose with distaste as I made my way through the mud and the back door. It was certainly an impressive mansion from the outside...
