Overview

Description: Renowned pro-life leader Judie Brown was appointed twice by Pope John Paul II and again by Pope Benedict XVI to the Pontifical Academy for Life. In her bold new book, The Broken Path, Brown addresses both the political intrigue in the hierarchy of America's Catholic Church and the challenges faced by modern Catholics in this great nation.

Neither Truth nor The Broken Path is always flattering: contemporary Catholic leaders in the Church, worthy of praise, are singled out as are others warranting greater scrutiny. But most importantly, Judie Brown shows each of us how we can have a positive impact for the glory of God and the integrity of the Catholic Church.

The Broken Path is a work of love for the Church: a must read for every Catholic with a desire to return our nation to a righteous path and our society to a culture of life.

Editorial Reviews

Ann E.
This book has been one of the most interesting and thought provoking books I have ever read on the subject. it is well researched and gave me a real understanding of what has happened to my beloved church these past decades. Not only has it been truthfully presented but has also given me much to use to defend or not defend the Catholic church and its many facets of abuse. Thank God for this author in taking the time to write it and to present it to all of us. I am sure Heaven had something to do

Judie Brown Covers a lot of material in this book and all directed at the failure of many of the Bishops in their duty to uphold the faith. If you want to see how politics effect our faith it is a good read. Everyone loves to hate the Catholic Church but what ever the government does to them it will do to the other religions. The book is very timely considering what is going on in politics at this time. It is an easy read, you don't have to be Catholic to understand it, and it may open your eyes

The Broken Path is an amazing, disturbing, thought provoking, and ultimately uplifting book by one of the true heroes of the pro-life movement. It's eminently readable and, at least for me, a real page-turner. Once I started reading, I had a hard time putting it down.

As upsetting as the issues raised and indictments made by author Judie Brown are, she is anything but a Catholic basher. She loves the Catholic Church and wants nothing more than to see it return to a path of righteousness

This book exposes why the Roman Catholic Church is in such a state of spiritual quandary in America. The renegade priests and bishops are the legacy of Vatican II, which is being played out currently. What we now have is an "American" Catholic Church in rebellion against the Magisterium. A must read book for all "thinking" Catholics.

I've read The Broken Path by Judie Brown. An amazing book by an amazing woman. The book shows what has gone terribly wrong in my beloved church. I had often struggled to understand the huge difference between the Church written of in the past and the one you see now. I've fallen in love with the Catholic Church of the past. Having read The Broken Path I now know what happened and where we need to go from here. Judie Brown, you have once again exposed the truth and put it in an understandable for

Amazing, disturbing, must read for all Catholics

The Broken Path is an amazing, disturbing, thought provoking, and ultimately uplifting book by one of the true heroes of the pro-life movement. It's eminently readable and, at least for me, a real page-turner. Once I started reading, I had a hard time putting it down. As upsetting as the issues raised and indictments made by author Judie Brown are, she is anything but a Catholic basher. She loves the Catholic Church and wants nothing more than to see it return to a path of righteousness. As she says at the end of the book's introduction "I am not going to stand or walk on a broken path and continue to watch souls go the wrong way. I love being Catholic and I want others to see why. It is my sincere hope that this book straightens the path for those who are concerned about what is at stake when a Catholic bishop or his spokespeople get lost in the weeds of American politics." From there Ms. Brown details sins of commission and omission by a number of bishops, naming names (including the bishop of the diocese in which I live) but also praises those bishops, sadly in the minority, who have courageously stood up for the true teachings of the Church. From the first chapter - How it all Began - to the final pages filled with hope and action items, each chapter transitions logically and smoothly from the last. Many chapters have action items of their own regarding how best to put the Church on the right path. If you're confused about why so many Catholic bishops don't stand up to courageously defend the most fundamental of life issues the Catholic Church teaches, The Broken Path will set you straight. If you don't understand how Catholic hospitals could be performing sterilization procedures and offering artificial birth control (both contrary to Catholic teaching and a culture of life), you'll learn the answers here. If you're wondering why a Catholic student is likely to be led away from the faith at most "Catholic" universities (and where to turn to find a good one) The Broken Path explains it all. Finally, my advice is buy and read this book. Buy extra copies for your favorite priests and your bishop, and, as Judie Brown wisely advises, pray for our priests and bishops.
